For those who no longer have the option to disable Chime It appears that you can actually mute the warning for the whole journey but you need to do this for new drive cycles.

He said that in the original post where he said it's annoying having to do it for every drive.

I stopped updating a version before that 3 strikes version came out, but have still installed the camera cover anyway as I’m sure at some stage down the line it will need an update, or if Tesla ever get their hands on it they’ll 100% update it, even if I insist they don’t…

It's borderline embarrassing that someone would complain about having to tap an icon within easy reach ONCE on a drive in the event that the software is showing an incorrect speed limit.

I keep my car up to date with the latest software.

I like the recent updates, however I don't use the autopilot unless occasionally when on motorway. I get the odd collision red warning when on rural roads, usually when a larger vehicle looks likely to pull out (or has half pulled out from a junction). But have yet to get the anchors thrown out..

Not embarrassing at all. Especially for someone who is in & out of their car doing short journeys all day. I must get in & out of my car over 10 times a day sometimes so it would definitely be frustrating having to turn it off every time. And lets be honest no one abides to 30km speed limits and there are plenty of other speed limits that I break regularly so it would definitely frustrate me. Its the same with new cars having mandatory lane assist that needs turning off every time, or stop/start that needs turning off every time. Its a common complaint across the board.

One should only have to do it once and that should then be the preferred default setting.

When I set my phone alarm, I set it up for the weekdays same time every morning and I don’t have to do that every night before I go to bed. Same with my car charger. I set it once for the times I want and if I want to interrupt that new default setting, I can take action to override or change it. I don’t need to do it every time.

It might sound ridiculous to complain about only having to do it once per drive cycle, but the point is that it shouldn’t be necessary at all. It’s just more stupid regulations. I find it very annoying that I have to accept or reject.

It’s the same cràp when I start my Leaf, it asks every single time for me to accept or reject telematics before I can access the infotainment system. We have the same nonsense on websites where we have to manually deselect cookies rather than it just being default preferences. When does one more button become too much?

    Hi Folks,

Came back on ferry from UK yesterday and alarm icon on screen is not working. It was fine on way over, turned it off getting on ferry going over and turned back on when I got off no prob.....any thoughts???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,580 ✭✭✭eagerv

iirc if Sentry is on then the Alarm controls grey out.

Yes sentry is on so that explains it, thanks so much. Why is this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 66 ✭✭Joni Mitchell

So if sentry is on can u not control the alarm on/off......what if I go on thd ferry with sentry on can I not turn the alarm off?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,580 ✭✭✭eagerv

Dunno, one of Tesla's little idiosyncrasies I guess. I normally have tilt intrusion turned off, but every time I use Sentry it automatically turns back on again.

Just noticed today that since 2024.26.7 update we now have Air Quality Index displayed. I am probably a simple creature, but I love info like that..😊

Yes its a feature and next to it it is local weather forecast which is dynamic and moves as you do …it also shows the AQI as one of the data elements . its really good to have

Software updates seem to have made the traction warning now with volume and heavier correction. I know it's dumb, but on an open empty road it's sometimes fun to kick out the rear wheels a wee bit on the RWD on the odd turn.

power trunk upgrade now available from Tesla for 2019/2020 Model 3 for €800

    very tempted…..

Very nice first world option to have. I missed it on my M3 after having it on previous cars. I don’t know if I’d pay €800 after the fact to fit it. If keeping the car long term then maybe worthwhile.

Would love them to offer the retrofit ambient lights for the MY/M3.

I might go for it… the plan is to keep the car for as long as it serves us (so expecting at least another 6+ years out of it…but many more if it still works…)

We recently spent 3 weeks with a Rav4 in Lithuania with the power trunk, and I got used to it!! and yeah.. missed it when we got home!!

If you're looking at €800 for that and maybe another grand on tyres etc then new 3 gets more tempting, I'm in mine a few days now and it's significantly better all around versus my 221 M3.

It's not always the cost of a new car, for me it's the cost to change

I still cannot justify upgrading to a newer car…. our current car still does everything we need it to, so we'd be upgrading for the sake of upgrading… and thats not very good for sustainability!

I really couldn't be ar$ed will all the bells & whistles a newer car comes with…. as well as the hassle involved with changing.

I wasnt interested in any of the bells or whistles either, but the suspension and sound proofing is like night and day I have to say. I didn't test drive before buying, in fact I haven't test driven any of the 5 EVs we've owned!

The 1st time I ever drove an EV was a test drive in a Model 3 about 2 weeks before we collected ours (which we ordered about 6 weeks previously)…

We ordered ours without driving it, only sat in one in Sandyford and decided it was the way to go.

I'm sure I'd love it if we got one. We just don't need one!

The only negative I can think of is that in most cars with auto tailgate you can open it by using a button on the key or kicking your foot under the car. I assume with the Tesla you would still need to press the button on the boot in order for it to open? Not ideal if your hands are full

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 42,576 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

In that case then the convenience is worth it then 👍

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 42,576 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

On the older cars yes, but the newer ones has hands free opening.

Hi guys, potentially looking at 2nd hand model 3s.

Hoping for a LR AWD, but would settle for a rwd with the 60kwh (57,5 usable?) lfp battery version. Do you know roughly when did that come to place? Think late 2021?

Was the previous version to that the 52,5kw/h usable LFP? Did that come with heat pump?

Thank you in advance, finding hard to get the exact timelines so I know then what exactly I'm looking at...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,263 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

every LFP RWD comes with a heat pump, as the heat pump arrived after the 1st refresh interior came in late 2020 (when the cars were still coming from Fremont).

Once production switched to China, every Model 3 RWD had both a LFP battery and a heat pump…
