Someone said earlier Kylie was over awed and wasn’t able for the main stage. The same Kylie who’s played the pyramid stage at Glasto. Laughable.

I’ve been thinking about this on my epic voyage back to Eindhoven, via Amsterdam.

    She was amazing. Absolutely brilliant.

What a weekend! I had tempered expectations as the lineup was a little threadbare for my liking and I was working but I was pleasantly surprised with the fun I had meeting up with friends, bumping into Brian Kerr and random conversations with new people. Great buzz.

First year working as a volunteer which saw me at the PUDO Gate welcoming punters in on Thursday and Friday. Big shout out to the hardy folk who were there from 07:00 Thursday morning! The weather certainly played a part in it being a wholesome experience with my fellow volunteers and the hordes of revellers patiently waiting in the queue. Got a great tan!

Highlights: NAS was unreal, a real belter of a set. Faithless were class. In the pit for Kasabian and had a great bop. Dec Pierce's Block Rocking Beats was oldschool personified yet with a great mix of young and young at heart attendees. Staff camping which was a quiet green field site with hot showers and clean jacks. Cannae go wrong.

Lowlights: Lack of basic facilities including toilets. The ladies' queues in the main arena were shocking. The rubbish. 'Nuf said.

One thing that was immediately clear from working on the gate was that if you didn't purchase an early entry pass, you were not getting an optimal pitch for your tent. It was way busier between 16:00 and 18:00 on Thursday that at any other time over the weekend. Was there enough capacity for general camping? Anecdotally, no, which necessitated the use of overflow sites. This isn't a new phenomenon but it's an issue that needs to be urgently addressed at the planning stage, especially if the early entry allocation is increased for 2025.

I might return next year but based on this year's lineup, it won't be with an early bird ticket.

My thanks to everyone who contributes to this thread, the tips, the spats and the general joie de vivre of all things music. Better living through music!

This rebranding talk seems a way they'll eliminate the loyalty codes.

On that I noticed there was a Three presale today. Any news on prices?

I'm glad they got to see their true popularity across the nation before they leave us. The traditional media boycott really hurt them but that doesn't work in the digital age. Spotify, YouTube, twitter etc you can't stop the people from signing anymore.

Just imagine how legendary they'll be when they do pass on.

Is the traditional media boycott in the room with us now?

Great weekend, TCM, Nas and faithless was a great double bill, Kasabian really should have been in kodalines slot, 2nd half of their set was magic, stranglers great but the surprise act of the weekend was RAYE, absolutely owned that stage, can only see her going stratospheric next year....surprised there wasn't more chat about her set after? Couple of comments on here about her not belonging as a sub headliner, couldn't disagree more

Not a fan, to put it mildly don't think they are good at what they do compared to others, but that is an unbelievable crowd.

Tent neighbours were not impressed with Raye, didn't see her myself but they did enjoy gerry cinnamen so that might explain where their tastes lay.

lots of experience with booking them, never really had an issue, was always online when they started selling them and just held the line so to speak with a dedicated browser window, don't faff about and refresh and don't panic.

Kylie's shows in the 00s ("Showgirl" 2005 and "Aphrodite" 2011) are two of the greatest pop shows I've ever seen. Huge sets and live band and amazing choreography and she sang really well. When she split with her creative director combined with the cost cutting switch to digital screens and backing tracks in general, she went south (her last gig in Dublin was awful). Her current push to the forefront is a mystery but anyway fair f*cks to her for giving it large in 2024 from a pop career that should have lasted five minutes in 1987.

Agreed. So little effort to pick up your rubbish and take your tent home.

Imagine, if we were smelling that stench of piss coming from the right hand side of the main stage, Kylie was defo smelling it too…..

Preface: I love traditional music. Planxty are one of the most played bands on my Spotify account.

The Wolfe Tones are crap. This weird nostalgia that seems them dragging in a new generation blows my mind.

Consequence of peace, simple as that. Generations change as do opinions.

think that's an element but there's more going on there, there's got to be some sort of meme-ification/social media element as it's not like all the kids rushing for the stage are spending their time at home listening to their folks old records of them.

That's exactly what I was discussing with my friends. We are all in our 40s, except for one guy who turned 50 at EP.

All these lads singing "up the Ra" never saw a bomb go off live on TV or had machine guns pointed at them crossing the border. More power to the young wans and young fellas, but I really hope it's a decent sort of Patriotism and not an "Ireland for the Irish" surge among the youth.

It's cos their songs are played by pub bands up and down the country every weekend of the year. Pure saturation.

Lowest common denominator stuff. "Ooh aah up the ra" is a catchy little refrain with a hint of "edginess"

Any Eco regulars get chatting to the head honcho Steven. We're hearing wars and rumours of wars that it may not be back.

Here's where we were pitched on the Monday morning.

No offence intended mate. In truth there was as many footie shirts in the mix as any other sport. Prevalence of both has spiked in recent years from my experience. As well as seeing their backs whilst they pished against a fence or on the floor 2 metres from a urinal.

The carnage elsewhere is jawdropping. Oxegen levels of filth, laziness and disregard.

Ha no young people are listening to their parents records! I can see how it's difficult for anyone over 40 to comprehend how they are so popular they are these days (not a dig, I'm not far from 40 myself) but they've ridden a massive wave since the sky sports sh1te from a while back. I don't see any conspiracy here, just a younger generation that aren't afraid to be patriotic. Not afraid to be seen glorification of "terrorists" etc. As I said above, it's a consequence of peace and it's actually a positive thing imo.

Actually Im pretty sure I made the exact same points last year when the main posters here couldn't get over it.
