For the first time Harris' betting odds have shortened to under evens, currently at 10/11.

Trump is still very slight favourite at 4/5, but it's tracking wider all the time. It won't be long now before Harris becomes favourite

Furthering Walz's bona fides with middle ground reality ... seems he's also of a family whose children came from IVF: so if they want yet another talking point Walz can speak to how they used IVF, like many normal people, and appreciate its value - again casting the MAGA nuts as deeply weird in comparison.

Your making claims about the Dems without any evidence to bolster them. On what basis are you judging them to have low IQ's - be specific now - show us your workings.

I’d love to see Walz put him on the spot about his and his wife’s muddled messaging which seems to be:

If you don’t have kids, fùck you, but if you’ve been trying to have kids you’re okay, but if you’ve used IVF to try, fùck you.

But I really can’t see a VP debate happening any time soon - republicans have little to gain from it and Vance does enough damage with just him on the podium.

"Kampala"? Is this the new "Kinky Kamala"? For crying out loud you MAGA weirdos…try harder.

Can't try harder? Then stop putting all of your effort and energy into supporting a loser. Then it might be easier for you.

Certainly the more I see of Walz and especially clips from his speech last night, he's a great pick for VP. I know there was a lot of talk about picking this guy or another to try solidify votes in those states, but I think Walz seems like such a great all-round pick that he could still appeal enough to most of those voters, balances out Kamala a lot, and will run rings around Vance in any debate.

What's worse is Trump has been calling her Kamabla on his social media, which also makes no sense and is just…. weird….

I don't get the Kampala thing at all. Is it a subtle way of trying to be slyly racist?

Kampala is the capital of Uganda, and she's half Jamaican half Indian, so if they're trying to subtly racist, it's also pig ignorant (which is no surprise)

He reminds of Biden 2008: Obama/Harris playing the statesperson Good Cop, with the VP as attack dog & there to make the snark and quips; something all the more valuable in these social media times. Harris will speak to the details, Walz telling MAGA what extremists they are with less filter.

I hope there's gonna be a VP cos watching sassy Pa Kent go up against a paper tiger like Vance could be box office political theatre.

Maybe…but I would be very surprised if that much thought went into it, let alone even knowing that it's the name of the Ugandan capital.

I'll bite, how would Trump handle it better with his noted history of capitulation to other military powers and giving state secrets to foreign powers. I await to see how this genius of modern politics handles this plotline to the next Call of Duty game.

I mean a lot of them struggled with the spelling of "Joe" often mistyping it as "Brandon". Kamala is a 6 letter name so theres hope their literacy will allow them to spell it correctly. They are trying their bestest so deserve a silver star if not quite a gold one. They are nearer to getting it right than they normally are.

interesting the odds have kept getting shorter for Kamala. She is nearly the bookmakers favourite. Although tbf Trump was long odds with them when he won.

Agreed - Trump is desperately trying to find a stupid name for Harris that sticks.

He can't argue policy or anything substantive so he needs to have a "crooked Hilary" or a "Sleepy Joe" to fall back on because his intellect just isn't capable of anything more.

He has tried at least a dozen different names to try to get one of them to gain online traction and thus far has failed miserably.

This Kamabla nonsense was probably a typo to start with and now he's trying to see if it will stick.

He's also a racist so mis-spelling and mis-pronouncing non "WASP" names is normal operations from him

Yeah I can't imagine it popping up as one of the results when Trump googled "Capitols of sh*thole countries"

They're not. Threads borked. Might need to close this one and start a new. It works sometimes.

What has Uganda to do with American politics?

Edit: I see Flaneur got there before me.

Vance held a small rally in front of a sign saying "KAMALA CHAOS".

Then they had the great idea of having people stand in front of the sign as he talked.

Trump's campaign team once again only hiring the best people.

Is it not fair to say that many of the posters waxing lyrical about Harris and Walz were waxing lyric about the wonders of Biden and fully supported his bid to stay in power until 2029, right up to the point where he was removed from the race by the doyens of the Democratic Party.

Why should anyone take your endorsement of Biden’s replacement seriously when you would have happily supported a clearly incompetent Biden were he still running.

In his own wierd way, he is campaigning for Harris. He just has to keep being on the ticket and talking…and he's helping her. Comparing Walz to him is also helper her. So, this stupid sign planning seems somewhat fitting really. "Vance for Harris" should be a new PAC :P

How much more 'load' do want to put on those loaded questions?
And hide behind the "just asking questions" shtick?

I don't recall posters "waxing lyrical" (your phrase). So no that's not a fair thing to say.

I recall posters saying a Biden administration, or similar Democratic administration, to be much preferred over that of the election stealing, rapist, fascist, racist felon Trump. That an aging Biden was still the only grown up in such a contest, and could be trusted to have a capable administration. Unlike Trump, who was happy to jeer on a crowd threatening to hang his VP, and who is down to a handful of people from his first administration who will still endorse him.

And note those are all fair to say comments about Trump, well supported by evidence already produced on this thread and forum, which you claim to be familiar with.
Nor is it whataboutery. It is about establishing standards.

Who do you endorse for President and why? I ask because you seem to have taken an interest in such endorsements, so it is an entirely reasonable question to ask, to establish standards.

    It's quite simple really.

Firstly, nobody was denying Biden's age was definitely a factor, he was a good bit slower and a worse orator than he was four years ago, and even then most of us would have preferred a different candidate four years ago. But people supported Biden in 2020 because he was a better candidate than Trump. Same goes for 2024. Nobody was denying age being a huge factor and would have preferred if Biden hadn't chosen to run at all again, but still would have supported him because he is a better candidate than Trump. Because despite Biden's age, he has not been deemed to have any actual medical or cognitive dehabilitation which would have meant he shouldn't be President. He's gotten shocking old, no doubt about it. But "clearly incompetent"? No.

Secondly, if Biden won and during his second term he did start to become impaired to the point of not being able to continue as President, people would have more faith in Harris and the entire Biden administration to see out the rest of his term, as there are existing rules and means for Biden to have either stepped aside, or been forced to if required (the 25th Amendment).

Thirdly, the opposition is Trump, and people are far more cognisant of the dangers posed by Trump returning to office. So even if they had to Weekend At Bernie's Biden around on the campaign trail, still a better option than Trump.

All people have to point to with Biden is he was slower talking, moving, stumbled over his words and trailed off on sentences. Signs of getting much older, naturally. That neither constitutes "clearly incompetent" or any kind of significant cognitive impairment which should have disqualified him from a second term. The reason the Dems convinced him to step aside was because it risked him getting a second term at all and was looking more and more likely to hand the Presidency to Trump.
