To be fair the rain was nothing more than a drizzle and was on/off, the temperature was 18-19 during daylight so this helped.

ATN I found to be very similar to EP but with some exceptions, I was a little surprised to see the number corporate stands, minimal art installations.

Distances: Smaller site so shorter distances from car to campsite etc.

Timing: It’s a great time of year for a festival, higher temps and bank hol weekend, Less time to book off work.

Site: It’s a beautiful location & grounds, but not flat, rolling hills, constantly climbing or descending, lots of filling/drainage type rocks layed down in parts, some quite large, trip hazard. From word of mouth vs EP I was expecting there to be more “space” but it’s a tight site, a busy period there in terms of people traffic is just like EP, the combo of night time + hill + rocks can be a little hectic. I was there in some light rain, but after a dry week, I felt the ground was very soft under foot, I would not like to experience ATN in extreme wet.

Campsite: Usual festival, the site I was in was super clean, they had litter pickers on the pathways, the odd dirty group. Some campsites on a slope so tendency to slide or roll during the night.

Food and Drink: Nice selection available, vodka, whiskey, baileys, white claw, Guinness, rock shore as well as the usual good and bad food traders. Cashless. Had several delicious pints of Guinness.

Stages: The rolling site and tree coverage means there’s lots of outdoor stages close to each other, but thankfully without huge sound bleed. Lovely days, the circle and Schweppes all outdoor and within ~200m of each other. Lovely days was my favourite, really comes to life a night time with an electronic act. Great to see Arcadia again, but to me the location is restricted and bottlenecked, needs to be in an open field to allow for crowd overflow.

Crowd: Great mixture of all ages, I’d say ave. Age was early 30’s. Calm, considerate, friendly, no large groups. The crowd really make a difference.

Freeflow: Saved the best for last!! 24 cans in first time only. This was perfect for me as the amount of alcohol consumed over a festival weekend is much less with age. We took cans home! Freeflow has a huge impact on the festival, you don’t need to skull cans in the campsite, you can head off @12 with your bag o cans, take your camping chair if you wish. This meant stages were well attended early in the day, opens up new music discovery for everyone! no security checks, no dealing with buzzkill jobs worth security guards multiple times per day, no emptying of pockets, finishing up cans, or having the wristband checked. No security check makes the site more intimate, it’s really easy to be on time for an act or nip back to the tent.

    Distances: 8/10

    Timing: 9/10

    Site: 7.5/10

    Campsite: 7/10

    Food and drink: 8/10

    Stages: 8/10

    Crowd: 9/10

    Freeflow: 10/10

    Total: 66.5/80

Would that be a fair score going by your report? It sounds very good anyway. Could be the future. One thing you didn't really review was the music. But maybe compare everything with EP in a few weeks and see which comes out on top.

Must pick up a power back online. Why recommendations of a half decent one that will do the weekend or what I should be looking for?

Yeah, agree with Penfailed, go for 20,000 mah up if you can. I've had this one for a good while and it's great, tough getting the Ankar one's in Ireland though.

    https://www.xiaomi.ie/xiaomi-power-bank-20-000-mah-50w-fast-charge-black-eu/

This is off an Irish site and have had it years as most don't ship lithium-ion over seas, seems to do up to 55W fast charge for a lot of devices if you have that on your phone, very handy to get your phone quickly charged 50%+ in 15ish mins if you head back to the tent for a quick tactical can. Would recommend buying a 2nd or 3rd cheaper power bank then even a smaller/cheaper dealz one or so just to have a backup, had one years ago get wet one year when a tent leaked.

Also as @Fanirish earlier gave a heads up on, Flight Facilities confirmed this morning Electric Picnic booking! Excellent booking, have never seen them but have always really enjoyed some of their music, really looking forward to that one now another high up the list. Also the fact this was just published probably means announcement imminent, its gives hope. https://flightfacilities.com/tour

really starting to think we're not getting another announcement not even the usual irish filler

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 982 ✭✭✭dav09

There's no Coronas, The Script, Gavin James or any of that usual dreadful bunch announced yet so that means there is definitely is one to come but they're leaving it extremely late. That and with Flight Facilities self confirming today means it's incoming soon, just hoping it's a good one.

Poor quality - but less of it. "We've heard your feedback folks."

    Shrewd from Belvin.

    this the new Bacardi?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 982 ✭✭✭dav09

Yep new Bacardi stage and by the looks of it a way bigger stage, you'd never had anyone of that caliber in recent years on Casa Bacardi.

Game changer of an announcement for me. The Blessed Madonna is always excellent, seen Jytoy at The Warehouse Project recently as support for Skrillex/Four Tet/Fred again and was really good, a mixture of hard house, garage, dnb etc. also excellent not someone I ever thought would be booked for EP. DJ Seinfield usually isn't bad too whenever I'd seen him, few more there too. It's actually shaping up nicely now, one more decent main arena announcement and honestly would be very happy.

not a place for me but I do often listen to blessed Madonna on the beeb 6.

That's a decent lineup, I'm a fan of Blessed Madonna and DJ Seinfeld. Will check out Jytoy and a few of the others.

On the line up posters, 2024 (54) Vs 2023 (82) were still short 28 odd acts, CMAT and 9 others still aren’t added to the poster, so taking this into account around 18 more.

These 18 will be spread from EA, Rankins and Three stages, so I expect some calibre to be announced.

Can I ask, where can one find get this map/overlay? I was wondering what the situation will be re showers in the campervan section this year (does this map even show this type of facility?) as it really is a good distance from the gen pop showers now that it has moved across to what used to be the green carpark.

Newspaper adverts have the last announcement on them. I'm not sure why EP haven't updated the online posters to this version.

There’s 1 shower block in Hendrix, that covers possibly 65,000 people at a guess, I severely doubt they will put a dedicated shower block for 3000 campervans given campers have a built in shower. (I know it’s not that straightforward with camper showers)

The Guards released this some time ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 152 ✭✭Himselfe

Cheers. Ah, I've seen the Garda map. Not much info on there re facilities but gives a good indication of the layout in fairness. I didn't realise there was only one set of showers to cater for everyone!

A lot of caravan's/campervans don't actually have a shower in them, ours included. Considering that we're paying an extra €100 for the privilege of using what is essentially a designated car park for campers and the like I think a little extra like a shower wouldn't be too much of an ask.

Even silver camping had showers as far as I recall.

that plus Smirnoff Is 80 plus acts and not fat off what’s last year poster had

But last years poster didn't cover casa bacardi so don't think comparing like with like. Bar terminus poster was the main arena tents and main stage so still well short
