lets keep AWB on the pitch till 82 mins. doesnt seem like a proper injury in fairness but still, playing with fire for no reason

    Who got injured?

AWB I think. It looks like a slight knock.

So many chances wasted and handed to Liverpool. Onana,Casemiro,Lindelof same shīte again and again. Mount playing out of position. AWB almost played the whole match. Sancho up front. Not a great tour.

Need some good signings and fast, particularly in CB and DM

Or maybe we should stop playing him out of position, just a thought.

granted we havent seen Zirkzee yet but we are still incredibly weak in the striker position and looks like all eggs will be in the Hojlund basket again.

We wont be consistently good with Onana prone to game costing disasterclasses. We really need a new keeper by right but its down the list of priorities.

Watched the game this morning and 3-0 didn't really reflect the overall performance. We looked cohesive in attack and Rashford looks sharp. Defense is a huge problem though.

We've no senior LB fit at the club, which is unforgivable after last season. Amass did okay but he's not ready to be starting every week and it's going to take Shaw a while to get fit after his holiday.

AWB should have been off long before he got injured, the club are trying to sell him FFS.

Casemiro was poor protecting the back 4 and it wasn't that he had huge areas to cover. He just couldn't make basic tackles and was very poor for the first goal.

The fact we start the season next week with Evans/Lindelof/Maguire as our CB pairing is another blow. Losing Yoro was unlucky but these things happen over a season so they need to do better in the market.

This tour has been a disaster and I really hope they stop going to the US and stop playing PL teams on them as well. We've lost Yoro and Rasmus for extended periods, Maguire is a doubt, AWB limped off.

I think that tour may have being provisionally agreed before the Feb announcement when INEOS came in but you’d hope they don’t go back next year. Surely there is top facilities in Europe the club can use and I 💯 agree about the PL teams

Scoreline wasn't a reflection on the performance. Similarly to the last few games, we have been pressing very well as a team.

If Zirkzee is half as good as people say in terms of linking up with the wide players then I think we might be in business if we keep this style of play up. Shaw and Martinez will make a huge difference to us.

Hopefully we see Zirkzee and Bruno get some minutes next week. Might be too soon for Martinez as he's only back at Carrington tomorrow.

Last night mot as bad as the scoreline would suggest, and we have yoro, martinez, maguire, Shaw, mainoo, Bruno, garnacho, zirkzee and hojlund to come in.

We do, desperately imo, need at least one cm signing. Case and eriksen will be effectively useless to us imo.

The defensive midfield position has once again become the biggest worry for us. Hopefully Ugarte gets done because even with a fully fit squad we are brutally weak in that position.

The problem isn't that Shaw and Martinez will make us better. It's that their replacements are poor to non-existent. We can't expect either player to line up for 60 games this season. So when they are out of God forbid rested the drop off is huge.

Midfield is still a problem. We need a defensive 6 that can't actually tackle and move. Erik is trying to shoehorn in a player who's well last his peak in Casemiro and another who isn't the first cousin of a 6 in Eriksen.

It's actually baffling how we are a week from the CS and none of this has been addressed.

CM has been a problem since 2010. It cost us too many times too

Lads, complaining about preseason results is pointless. We know MDL & Mazraoui at a minimum will be added to the squad next week. I also expect Rabiot and Ugarte to be done by the first PL game. CS is nice to win and all but ultimately it's just another preseason friendly and shouldn't be taken too seriously

Utd's season officially starts next week with the PL starting the week after.

By a few accounts, MDL and Mazraoul are dependent on sales, whichakes the decision to play AWB for over 80 minutes even more baffling.

Bar a serious turnaround over the next 6 days, we are about to start the season with a weakened MF (Armabat gone and no reinforcements brought in) and no fit senior LB at the club.

All this has nothing to do with preseason results and everything to do with awful squad management yet again. This was a team that were lucky to finish 8th last year and needed serious investment in key areas but that just hasn't happened.

where is Shaw ?? he has been missing in action for most of last season, then miraculously gets himself fit for the Euros, and then pisses off on holidays, on his day he is a good left back, but he spends most of the time injured and he seems to have no loyalty to the team ( if he did, then he would have been back training, considering he missed most of last season ) he needs moving on…

Would be nice to get the two lads signed early in the week and get a run out in the Community shield before the season starts.

I assume a lot on the tour won't play and the lads back from holidays will come in for it.

    Onana

    Mazourai De Ligt Martinez Shaw

    Casemiro Mainoo

    Garnacho Bruno Rashford

    Zirkzee

There's a high likelihood only 3 or 4 of those players will actually start next week. Onana, Casemiro, Rashford, and maybe Bruno (purely because he's a freak of nature and plays every game).

Martinez, Garnacho, Mainoo, Shaw, are only back now I think and will be nowhere near ready. Dalot and Bruno are a bit ahead of them but are still a bit away I would imagine.

It'll will be a bit of a ramshackle team against City and could be messy. Most of the first team haven't kicked a ball together since the FA cup final over 10 weeks ago. We won't really know where this team is until after the international window at the start of September.

Most of them were playing in international tournaments a couple of weeks ago. They aren't unfit. A week of training together will be fine. We'll have a pretty close to first choice XI out against City

Garnacho, Zirkzee & Dalot don’t have match fitness. It will be 5 weeks since Bruno played. 4 weeks for the other three including Shaw who only has 180 mins and will need to be managed regardless. I’d expect a behind doors friendly or two like last year to get people caught up.

ugarte off for the minute. we need a top quality CM so badly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,695 ✭✭✭✭FourFourRED

I wonder who the other options are. Has there been any genuine names mentioned recently?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,902 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

I'd let it die now. Or if PSG decide to urgently sell just offer 40m max or something. Show we arent gunna get fúcked around anymore.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,902 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

Having signed Palhinha and wanting to develop Pavlovic, maybe Bayern could throw Laimer into the Mazraoui/De Ligt deal? Surely we could get some kind of 3 for the price of 2 - cheapest player free deal?

Getting worrying for midfield. Ugarte is the only guy we've been really linked to. And now he's off the table?

    Gonna end up resigning amrabat.

Not a good ineos summer at this point.

Cant really blame them, we are being low balled with sales, PSG asking for too much. We have no money to spend.
