Are you emailing your election candidates yet about this issue? You really should. Now is the time. Election in 3 months time. Ring is not running (thankfully, gombeen TD) but find out who has been selected to run in Mayo. The Dillon lad seems to have some common sense. Also email the clowns running the show in Dublin. Emails work. TDs see them as votes to be won or lost.

The alternative is to attack Megamanboo who has no say on government policy whatsoever.

We need to get ahead and quickly redefine what a 'Refugee' is at this stage, as what is happening is simply a horrible train crash happening, without the emergency brake.

When new houses in my local area are now being sold for 450k unfurnished- without any white goods, flooring, tiles etc...we are now at a deeply critical time.

Then we have 'refugees' who get fast tracked to the top of social housing lists qnd also given private rental properties, ahead of others. And others who have been on the lists years and years. Joke, just a joke.

They have made an absolute mess of this issue. I wouldn't be confident it will get any better in either the shorter or longer term and its clear from listening to Roderick, Simon, Mehole and Co, they really couldn't give a sh!te what the people think. They have bought into this and god be damned what the people want. Its a terrible situation, and largely the governments mess and there is zero sign of them sorting it in any fashion.

We will be paying the price for this coalition for a long time to come….and that goes well beyond just migration.

It's a lot easier to just pay fines . Or pay a third party country to process Asylum Seekers. Which will be agreed by the EU soon.

The government will use this as carte blanche to spend more money on asylum. Better benefits and services for asylum will only attract more asylum seekers here. More asylum seekers will then put additional demand on resources and services. We'll be back to square one, needing to add yet more money to the asylum budget.

In the UK you can apply to work after 12 months if a decision has not been made regarding your application. In Ireland it is 5 months.

So I bet my last Euro if an international applicant works after the 5 months they will receive free state provided accomodation in a IPAS centre, food,don't have to pay bills and get a medical card.

We are making it so attractive for economic migrants to come here abuse our asylum system. It is so infuriating for law abiding citizens paying their taxes. Our elderly relatives can't get the carers hours they deserve but yet we throw millions at sharks refurbishing buildings to house people abusing our good nature.

You seem to have assumed that deciding who is and isn't eligible for asylum is a quite straightforward process.

Why then do so many cases get overturned, often after lengthy appeal?

If it can take that long for our well educated legal professionals to decide who meets the criteria, how can you expect some lad in war torn Sudan to just somehow know?

I'm not claiming there are a large amount of genuine errors, I wouldn't know, nor would you, but the fact there are some makes it plainly inaccurate to label people 'bogus' or 'chancers'
