Morning all, I have been to ATN a couple times, didn't go last year as couldn't convince any mates to go - same scéal again this year but going to go on my own as I need a festival fix! Am a bit of an introvert so it's mildly daunting but looking forward to it.

Have ye any tips for enjoying a solo festival? I usually go hard enough on the hedonism but I'll take it back a notch or three given there won't be anyone around to pour me into my bed if I mis-judge anything..

Really looking forward to the Prodigy, Wallopers, Sing along social, King kong company - and arcadia of course!

I'll be staying in the campervan area - M/mid 30's

Pink Moon is going to be located in the Boutique campsite, not pre-pitched area. Was confused by this myself but Pink Moon team confirmed this to me

solo festivals are great as you are your own boss and don't have to follow a crowd. Wander like mad and do all the stuff you wouldn't get to do when part of a group. Sign up for the posh dinner - stuff like that. Chances are you'll probably meet people you know anyway, but at least you are not tied down. Enjoy!

Ah solo festivals are the biz! I love it particularly from the music point of view, being able to hit every set you want, no compromise, no keeping people happy but I love all the little conversations you end up having, all the people you meet that you wouldn't have in a group. Just enjoy it buddy, leave yourself open to everything. You'll have a ball!

Still tickets available for this. Are ATN not missing a trick by not selling day tickets? I'm sure plenty of people would spend 100 quid to go for a day but might not be able to commit to the full weekend.

Heard an ATN ad on local radio today, not sure if I heard that before. I mean it's a pretty good idea, I listen to a lot more local radio than dogsh1t national radio.

May well be in the same boat myself, there will be plenty like this. I'm introverted too but I still need a nice dose of social interactions. This will be my 5th ATN and I usually set up a boardsie whats app group on the Thursday and I am happy to do that again this year if folk want it. I know plenty have met up over the years this way and it is useful way of disseminating on the ground info too.

I got one in halfords before the plague that is still going strong after plenty of festivals! Foldable too. Have to say that none of its outings were particularly rough, it missed all the rain at ATN last year and only had to deal with a little dry mud on the way out.

They still sell it it seems! https://www.halfords.ie/camping/camping-furniture/halfords-heavy-duty-folding-trolley-506142.html

In case of difficult terrain, something with rubber inflatable tyres is preferable. A garden cart is perfect and very robust. https://www.heavins.ie/products/greenblade-garden-utility-cart-wagon-180kg-20145?variant=42041787252872&currency=EUR&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwnei0BhB-EiwAA2xuBkF5oKms0SLRJ0D3Lkag5OWD4u5P98i_48tbHGYNunmMKvhJUfGXVRoCKE0QAvD_BwE

I had one of those until last year... it's fourth outing. I stacked it very high, wrapped everything tight and then one person pulled while the other pushed and steadied the load. It did a great job. However, last year the weight combined with very bumpy conditions of the fields on the way in caused the rusted supports underneath to snap and the whole load fell over! That was not fun to try to lift it the right way up while fully loaded and try to make it the rest of the way to my chosen spot!

Just spotted more campervan tickets seem to be available now on ticketmaster! Was delighted to nab one, hope it’s not some sort of mistake!

I was gonna post earlier that the radio ad on TodayFM this evening said there was more available. I looked on ATN site and they said sold out so didn't post it in the end. Good to hear you're sorted.

I was in the same situation last year and said I'd go anyway, and enjoyed it so much I didn't ask any of my mates this year 😂😂 lovely to just get away and chat to random people and take in every part of the fest without worrying if your mates like what you've brought them too etc..! El directors whatsapp group does be great too for meeting people 👌

Anyway I'll be in the campervan site too if you want a drinking buddy 😊

    Hello all 😎

Delighted to have found this thread, it's my first ATN. Getting lots of great tips here. I know it's a bit of a walk from general campsite to main area/other stages.

Roughly how long of a walk is it, provided it's not a mud pit?

    Thanking you in advance

Female 40s, been to lots of festivals but it's been a few years 😉

It can depend where you camp.

If you camp right near the entrance it can be only a five minute walk to the belonging bandstand.

Everything is very close together from there.

To be honest, it is all pretty close together. I have camped both my visits in the general campsite. Because I'm a bit of a sad loner, & go on my own, & like peace & quiet, I camp at the 'far end' of the site, but it is truly only 5-10 min walk, or so. Certainly doesn't feel onerous.

Anyone know when the earliest time ticketmaster allow to transfer a campervan tic?

Anyone know if the showers were open on Friday morning last year?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 828 ✭✭✭mgkelly

No direct knowledge, but imagine so. But, who needs a shower anyhow?!

    Great username, BTW!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 5,204 ✭✭✭Stillill42

Yeah that sort of thing has been my best experience.

For sure the inflatable tyres are the way to go for uneven/bumpy ground. That’s why I settled on a wheel barrow but I think I might go with one of those hand trucks this year as I think I could store it in my tent and not have to be going back to the car therefore.

With the hand trucks do you just drop it low-ish pull it along behind you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,292 ✭✭✭El Director

I cannot find the direct link to it but this is the Dunbes one -

I saw it in person and it does look decent. Wheels are wide but not inflatable.

Do they release a printable timetable closer to the time or is it just the App?

    Cheers
