How long more are the hard-working Paddys and Mohammads of this country going to have to put up with this?

I wonder what the cost of all this criminal activity has been over the past year or so, half a billion, a billion?

Private security costs alone for all the IPA centers in the country must be huge, not to mind the property destruction, damaging garda vehicles, attacking emergency services, deploying public order units etc.

How many homes and services could have been provided with this money?

I think it's long since passed time to clamp down. I'm not one normally for long prison sentences, apart from violent and sexual crime, but the public cost here is huge, and they won't seem to stop regardless of how rejected they've been at the ballot box. Maybe ankle bracelets might help, should be easy to monitor when groups of these chancers start congregating and lock them up for a spell?

Time to bring in the hate-speech bill too to tackle the keyboard warriors egging them on online.

Drew Harris would want to watch that he doesn't start losing even more credibility. Not the most popular in some sections of the Gardaí and treading silly ground on RTE news reports over the protests in Coolock. He echoed McEntee that a significant problem is 'misinformation & disinformation' being spread on social media. This phrase was parroted by RTE several times but when during a report, Harris was asked to explain 'misinformation & disinformation', it was just ignored. So what exactly was this 'misinformation & disinformation' that was spread on social media? Members of the public sharing news that workers had arrived at the site earmarked for 500 asylum seekers and that people were gathering to protest? What exactly is 'misinformation & disinformation' concerning this type of social media use? As he said himself, it wasn't a secret that the site was to be developed for this purpose. Reads to me that this 'misinformation & disinformation' slur is a handy label to throw out, in the same sentence as 'far right', when the public oppose what the state wants to do.

RTE then proceeded to list the names, addresses and occupations of several people arrested. All typical Irish names of the general area. The only odd one was a Philip Dwyer of Tallaght, he being the chap who goes around filming such protests. Assuming that's what he was doing, videoing the Gardaí public order units and not throwing bricks at them, why would he be arrested. Is it now a crime to record what is happening?? What future for any sort of journalist if the state can label them as spreading 'misinformation & disinformation' if they don't like what's being reported??

Who were these men, real criminals caught thieving? They are Calin Scintei of CityWest, Manoli Codrin of no fixed abode and Mariaus Crisan of Swords, in their 20s, one at least needs an interpreter. Prime examples of the sort of young thieving criminals arriving here, being put up as guests of the nation and then repaying us by robbing us??

Maybe Drew Harris would be better off doing his job to stop the inflow of criminality into the state and arranging for swift deportation, than accusing local communities of spreading 'misinformation & disinformation' :(

Typically you are only worried about the cost of things when it suits you.

Could argue for a more robust immigration system as well but then that does not suit your agenda either.

That site is prime site to build apartments for people. It's gas the government keep banging on about communication, and consulting local communities. But it's meaningless.

Its the latest buzz word and phrase to discredit people with opposing views. The authorities treating the citizens with contempt, thinking they're above us, so obviously we must be misinformed.

Surely some in government or behind the scenes need to be asking to put a stop to this immigration policy, surely they can't be that far out of touch.

I’d imagine it would not go down well if anyone, let alone the state broadcaster, did the same to someone with an accent from Africa.

I 100% support the protest, but I dont support what the little scumbags done. Major difference in what started as concerns to what it ended in, I fully believe half the lads seen their mates going and went with them and wanted trouble.

Same way some posters on this thread think that concerned citizens want anybody who isn't Irish out, no we want a control on who comes in and if they have previous major crimes like murder/rape. Ireland like the rest of the EU will always have those from a poorer place come to their country and make a better life for them and work for that while contribute to that country and that's great cause helps with growth & economy but then you get absolute wasters who come in and engage in activity that is not legal.

Also before you or anyone says "Well Irish do that" we all know but they are native scum and very hard to stop that
