Farage is a dangerous guy though. He's very slick and will garner a lot of support just because of his intellect in knowing how to conduct himself. It's obvious what he is through and through but he's got the guile to conceal himself when need be and put the right face across. I saw him on that Loose Women show doing well even though what he's saying is utter tripe. He's miles ahead of any "patriots" we have here as he knows how to skirt the line and can talk himself out of issues whereas the lads over here can't get past their own egos and get a thrill out of being edgelords.

Farage got a roasting on Question time last night, very hostile crowd. The questioners were very hostile, look at the guy asking the question lads.

No. He just called out on his nonsense. You can spin it all you want but the truth is self-evident.

Surely the BBC should be impartial though, especially in a debate with candidates in a general election.

Calling out candidates is a basic tenet of journalism.

Yeah, but a BBC employee asking questions is not a great look is it ? Could you imagine if RTE did an election debate and one of the questioners asking hostile questions was a staff member of RTE and everyone found out about it. It would not give a look of impartiality on behalf of the broadcaster would it ?

What do you think journalists should be doing then, if it's not asking questions?

What would you say if an employee of RTE was asking hostile questions to a candidate in an election debate on RTE ?

I am on about BBC staff in the audience asking hostile questions who are not journalists.

How do you know they're BBC staff? What evidence do you have? The BBC have been aggressively promoting Farage for over a decade now.

I see you've abandoned your nasty Channel 4 conspiracy theory.

Agree with all of that. The nearest equivalent to Farage in Ireland would be Niall Boylan, a smooth media operator throwing out snappy soundbites and clichés. If you listen carefully to what they are saying though, there's very little substance to it and they are short on detail….it's all designed to appeal to the emotions.

As you say, most of the 'patriots' are inarticulate cranks who can barely string a sentence together.

Not a good look is it ? He is on Facebook this morning going on about how great he was.

«Meh! Channel 4 are being mean to ReformUK by pointing out racism in the party!»

«Meh! The BBC are being mean by asking about racism in the party!!»

    And maybe next week:

«Meeeeeh! The electorate are being mean by not voting for us on account of racism in the party!»

Here’s a wild idea I’m sure noone has ever thought of; how about not forming a party on the basis of block-headed ultra-nationalist chest-thumping in which it’s pre-disposed to make racists feel at home within it. How about trying that first before moaning to the rafters when people notice the plain bloody obvious.

Another tedious link dump. I think we're done here.

You asked for proof you got it, what more do you want ? He works for the BBC doesn't he ?

Here is another audience member Salman Mirza he is called, just a normal guy off the street no doubt.

    No agenda that lad.

How many times have pro EU MEP's have appeared on Question Time vs, the dozens of times of Farage has ?

How many times have the SNP, the UK's third biggest party, been on compared to UKIP / Brexit / Reform ?

Most importantly how often have sh*t stirrers been allowed spout bare faced lies ?

Journalism 101 : If one says it's raining and the other says it's not, it's not your job to quote them both. Your job is to look out the window and find out which is true.

None of this is proof. You keep crapping out links that prove absolutely nothing.

It is the guys own website. What part of " For the past year I have been 1st AD on BBC Doctors." do you not understand ?

Have a look at his CV includes Assistant director for Holby City and Dr. Who. What more do you want ?

Is your point that dissenting voices should not be allowed attend or get to ask questions on question time? Should politicians only get soft ball questions put to them?

You made claims that something insidious was going on at the BBC. I've asked for proof and you've given nothing. You seem to think they should have been worshipping Farage.

Well like the crowds here and the world over they appeal to those who fall into one or all three of the C categories.

Incorrect you asked for proof that he worked for the BBC. Now you are asking for proof the something insidious was going on, make your mind up.

I don't think it is a good look to hand out one of just a few questions to someone working at the BBC when you claim to be impartial and independant in a general election debate.

I've been clear the whole time.

I think we should leave it there since you've produced no evidence.

As a reform supporter, do you agree with Farage kicking out the 3 candidates for racism?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,335 ✭✭✭lmao10

Agreed. He got exposed a bit when pushed about the usual climate change denial and could only retort "I've seen some documentaries" lol. He's the closest to Farage though I'd agree. I think a good few of the others are going to get themselves brought before the courts due to their ego and edgelording getting out of hand. Glad Boylan didn't get elected though. If they had any smarts, they'd be all getting behind him and putting him at the forefront but as I said, their egos and edgelording come first. Which is great for the left in that sense but they are still quite dangerous also as they can rile the susceptible people up.

Boylan is already back broadcasting on Classic Hits btw. His sojourn into politics was very brief.

That led by donkeys stunt with Nigel Farage is genuinely hilarious...the clapping stopping ha.

It's sad to see a sizeable chunk of people fall for his grifting nonsense again and again.

He's going after the same demographic that support the far right parties around Europe. Often elderly, living in rural areas, low standard of education and so on….these voters are more likely to buy into the 'return to traditional /conservative values' spiel and to feel under threat from the modern world.
