would be hilarious if one of these 2 games gets abandoned. england out at the expense of scotland.

the ICC must be loving their decision now.

Finally play under way, 11 overs per side.

revised down to 10. england finish on 122 which is surely too much for namibia to chase.

Save for the Oman game, the English bowling has been atrocious in this tournament.

Davin for Namibia retired out to let Wiese in as England were never getting him out.

They were never getting them but a decent effort nonetheless of chasing that by Namibia. Wait and see now for England. Rain Scotland's best hope but you never know.

england qualify (most likely) with a straightforward win.

scotland beat SA overnight or the match is abandoned, scotland and SA will go through.

I know it was a decisive must win game for England but it had the vibe of an exhibition….

Why the didn’t Namibia just allow Wiese to open the batting, instead of in a competitive World Cup fixture, an opening batsman retiring to allow him to come out and face a few overs…? farcical, poor form from Namibia…. Ok unlikely to win the game but jeez, it’s a World Cup. Standards !

Can’t see Scotland laying a glove on Australia, so I’d say England can rest easy.

reasonable start by Scotland vs Australia…

Aussie bowlers starting well but a fair few sketchy deliveries now. Scots punishing them…..

    54/1 off 6 overs.

    Too many short ones.

Ah Scotland! You have missed a huge opportunity there. Lack of bowling depth showed in the end.

Hard luck for the Scots, strong performance against Australia but short.

You'd feel sorry for the Scots, don't normally waste much empathy for them in sporting matters. But unlike us, they made a real go of it and just fell short. I think that lets England qualify which is a pity, would have done them no harm at all to have to pack up their bags early. The organisation and choice of venues leaves a lot to be desired. The US ain't ever going to take up cricket in any big way.

the US put on an excellent World Cup in football back in ‘94..I got to witness it first hand…

But their cricket people on this occasion really didn’t do cricket, their / our sport any favours or justice ……dreadful pitches, terrible outfields, questionable facilities and total lack of crowds / atmosphere….. staff and fans wandering behind the bowlers arm, practically every match I watched that happen, seemingly no deterrent ……. Too many failures…. There has been exciting cricket at times too but the above has detracted from the overall enjoyment and experience…. You’d have to wonder what enabled the ICC to choose that bid. I’d say $$$ had a lot to do with it and ‘growing the sport’ there.

Pakistan vs Ireland later, we won’t win but be nice if it was a bit competitive… don’t see it happening…. Be nice if we could even put 160 runs on the board and take a few wickets…and just see..

I’d say confidence is pretty low and players would be just looking forward to getting on that plane.

dreadful pitches, terrible outfields, questionable facilities and total lack of crowds / atmosphere….. staff and fans wandering behind the bowlers arm,

A lot of the above can also be attributed to the West Indies.
Bit unfair just to label it all to the US

Ah lads, thought I'd look in on this one - two down first over :(

160 did you say? Be luck to get 60!

5 down now for 28. Unbelievably poor

It could be argued we are one of the weakest in the tournament now. Major regression the last few years

Yeah. You can blame the pitch all you want but some of these shots are horrendous. We're behind the lake likes of US and Canada.

    33-6

This ranks as one of the most humiliating performances ever by a full member in a world cup. An associate nation would be embarrassed by these performances. This has to spell the end of the road for the openers in T20 Cricket. There's nothing to be achieved keeping them around after the. Go for young openers and let them develop. They couldn't do worse.

The top 4 have contributed 67 runs in 3 games at an ave of 5.6. Steller stuff from a very experienced top order.

Stirling's performance as a captain is indefensible. A 18 yr old debutante wouldn't play a shot like that at 4/2. Its all well and good for Tucker to score 3 50s in build up, buts he's disappeared when needed. As for Tector he's not a T20 player, brilliant 50 over player when he can play himself in, rubbish when he has less time.

All that said looking forward to seeing the exact same top 6 play the next game in Sept...

bit of a comeback, not one to influence the result but at least we might get up to 120 and something of a less embarrassing total….

    Being 32/6, i don’t care if it’s vs Pakistan but that’s disgraceful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,192 ✭✭✭wazzzledazzle

Don’t worry, the next collapse is only an over away

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,597 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

next wicket fell a delivery after I posted 🤪🤦🏻‍♂️

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 20,337 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

    we might get 100.

Ireland's top order run totals in this World Cup
    Balbirnie 22
    Stirling 12
    Tucker 22
    Tector 11
    Campher 23

Absolutely pathetic! Those scores wouldn't even win one game on it's own.

    8 down

Mark Adair obviously missed Delaney, couldn't wait to follow him back to the pavilion.

Happens time after time. Whenever there's a partnership, the batters involved seem determined to get within an over of each other. The squad seems to no cricketing intelligence at all. Surely at 79/7 you try and scrape 120 and see what happens, not wildly slog and hope for the best.

Bazball tactics with club level players
