Solis or Sunsynk 5KW inverter?

Hello all,

We have spent the last 2 months researching solar and have made the move to purchasing the parts for a self install.

We have currently purchased:

1 X PYLONTECH US5000

1 X Eddi (an energy diverter for hot water will definitely suit the way we live/use electricity)

I was all set to get a 5Kw Solis inverter, until I spotted a lot of the posters on the Daily pv production thread use Sunsunk inverters.

I am now really edging towards the Sunsynk inverter.

I have a couple of questions: Can I now essentially remove the eddi and use the diverter feature on a Sunsynk (or keep the eddi and still use that

Is there anyone choosing the Solis over the Sunsynk?

I don't have any experience with the Solis, but the Sunsynk is a good piece of kit. People are apparently having issues getting them from suppliers in Ireland as Kellihers have stopped selling them.

There have been quite a few issues lately with the Sunsynk app being offline. I installed solar assistant to circumvent this and it gives me 2-3 second interval data too.

Regarding the immersion function on the inverter, my understanding is that it's pretty crude and is basically an on/off switch. Eddi allows variable power based on the export.

I've chosen Sunskynk instead of solis but my installer hasn't installed it yet, so i will let you know if it was worth it or not :), but after sometime researching I prefer the flexibility of the sunsynk and that gen port for future expansions.

Also solis depends how big you battery is, it is not able to keep more that 65/75 amps for charging a battery that means in winter to do load shifting would be more problematic.

My first option was Fronius/Victron but after realising i need go to NC7 route i discarded that option :(.

It looks like kellihers will have them again at the end of this month, but nobody can confirm this.

Looking like the Sunsynk route for us, can order from infinite-solar.co.uk, we are on the border here and have a NI address we can use.

Any other input from anyone else would be great also.

I replaced my Solis with a Sunsynk (actually Deye) and would recommend it. It's a much better inverter IMO.

How did you get on with the Sunsynk? I'm doing a similar install, but looking at the Deye inverter which is pretty much the same as the Sunsynk, curious how you find it?

I actually did the math on this and if you were to buy the same 9 inverters and all DIY packs, will only cost about €55.000, that's some mark up right?

@godskitchen defo go for the sunsynk, much better kit, and itstechnologies sells them, about 1400 ish and delivery in about 2 days.

Why would you need an NC7 for Fronius/Victron and not for Solis/Sunsynk?

I recently for a Fronius Primo GEN24 5kW on an NC6. Would recommend.

The fronius GEN 24 is hybrid but you are in the expensive side of the batteries. In my case I wanted to use and Fronius on grid ( a different model of GEN24, no hybrid) and the victron managing the fronius and the battery, that's why I needed to go to NC7, you have to two inverters even when it is just the fronius that is producing, from ESB point of view you exceed the 5.5 KW mark for microgen.
