Hasn't been at any of the European dates so far - she'll probably turn up for a nice family holiday in Barcelona again - granted despite being there, she didn't play onstage at either gig in Barcelona on the last tour.

Bruce probably loving the break away 😄

Probably out on the tear every night, probably the longest he's been in Ireland

Cant say I agreed about the sound being good. There was some awful feedback during Ghosts at least towards the back of standing.

Enjoyed the show just wished there was something exciting in the encore. Although ARNIS was a lovely touch to go home on

Enjoyed the gig despite the rain.

The exit afterwards was as bad as I have ever experienced from a gig, seemed a little unsafe in places.

Poorly lit, signposted and stewarded , we ended being funneled through 40m of muck, trainers were in a state after.

We were told if you left the pit there was no re-entry and that if you needed toilets you would have to exit the pit.

I agree, even leaving the pit from standing felt unsafe going through the gate. Lots of pushing, with people running in and out or trying to orientate themselves.
No indication where the paths lead you. I wanted to go the Marina and ended up in Ballintemple, no markings at all leaving the site. Obstacles in the dark, that made people stumble.

Yeah. She was on stage dancing around with Michelle Obama though.

The cynic in me will always question these sign requests. Seems Santa Claus is a rainy night in Europe in case of emergency tune

First time I saw him live. Pretty underwhelmed tbh. If you didnt know his album songs (most people there) you knew few enough of the songs he played.... Nor did he attempt to engage with the crowd except repeating the word Cork over and over again. You think he'd learn something venue specific to say rather just the name of the place. Maybe he never does, but assumed he did make such efforts when you hear how he is supposed to be such a good concert artist

Appreciate his real fans may have had a very different experience.

Crowd Last night in lashing rain was way better then sunny rds last year. Card machines went down as per and just as I got to top of queue torrential downpour wearing a t shirt. In a weird way the rain added to it, lots dancing away on the pitch Anyway. Would have like the river and born in USA alright.

If you're going to see an artist though, you really should make yourself aware of songs other than their greatest hits.

I was in KK and he really did interact with his audience. It felt personal and intimate.

I've only seen him twice so I wouldn't class myself as a genuine hard-core fan but I could appreciate how much his avid supporters enjoyed the set list, singing along to all the words.

Its Aiken, the guy is a cheapskate.

He charges enough for the tickets so he should provide a decent service.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,771 ✭✭✭✭MisterAnarchy

Well even from last year the setlist has lost a number of big numbers.

Glory Days, Born in the USA, Out in the Street, Marys Place and My Love Will Not Let you down were all standouts for me in the RDS.

    All missing last night.

Few friends who went were very disappointed with the setlist.

I got the same from the south stand, really ear splitting on more than one occasion.

Its gas that people go to see an artist who has over 400 different songs recorded and get upset when he doesn't do their personal favourites.

Just stay at home and listen to the songs you like on a recorded live album if its going to disappoint you

Call me crazy but I've no desire to see the same songs played every time I see him, I'd call that boring to be honest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,771 ✭✭✭✭MisterAnarchy

The tickets were 168 euro each, which is alot of money so I can understand them being disappointed.

Born in the USA is probably his trademark song.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,771 ✭✭✭✭MisterAnarchy

    He does.

Artist requests a fee, the promoter then sets the ticket prices.

Ireland seems to be the only country on the European tour with flat ticket prices, i.e all seats are almost the same price. 158-168 euro.

You could get seats for 75 euro up in other countries.

A buddy of mine walked down from his house (local enough) and walked straight in with his missus. No tickets.

He got absolutely soaked but said he had a great night.

mate of mine was at it with his son - son said before the gig that the only song he knew was "santa claus is coming to town" - his Dad said - "well he won't play that" lol little did he know - he said it was fantastic - the whole audience sang along and Bruce said "only in Cork"

PS this mate is a massive music head - said it was the best gig he had been to apart from a U2 concert.. dunno what year or where

that’s not how it goes for shows anymore.
Bruce agent will inform promoter of guarantee, they also set out the % share of profits for promoter after expenses. Promoter provides agent with detailed budget for the show and and ticket price options that cover the guarantee, expenses and agreed profit for promoter/artist. Agent approves budget and ticket prices after back and forth.
after show is done promoter provides settlement statement to agent with breakdown of ticket revenue, costs, promoter % and profit due to Bruce. Promoter then pays over the difference between guarantee amount already paid and the profit due to Bruce.

for smaller shows that guarantee will be based on sold out capacity and so the settlement figure due versus guarantee amount might be a negligible amount.
depending on size or venue it can just be a straightforward guarantee fee.

I've standing tickets for Croke Park but hard copy and don't have them on my person. Does anyone know the entrance to take to get in to Croke Park for standing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 735 ✭✭✭RolandGoose

Probably Foster Terrace off Ballybough road if my 2016 memory serves me!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 333 ✭✭Sean Seoighe

Thanks a mil, I couldn't remember what route we took in.

The PUC gig was my 8th or so Bruce gig. Massive pit as usual, got a good spot, arrived to venue at 5pm, didn’t move at all until he left the stage around 22:25, came away drenched but happy.

    IMG_8644.jpeg

A 16 piece live band is relatively rare, and so in synch it was incredible, very tight throughout. He’s always changing setlists, so have seen The River, Born In USA, so many times before, it was nice to see other tracks played.
Nice tribute to E street members Clemons & Federici.

Little Steven was the most dissapointing, looked like he had zero interest. did not do much at all, and would have not been missed. Nils gave some amazing solos as usual, and was much more plugged in, Talent/Bittan/Weinberg & Turell all on great form, and the horns section outstanding, as was the choir.

The exit was as many have said was - chaotic, the main exit to left of stage was still closed, 15 minutes after he finished. so people started going into the stand, it eventually opened several minutes later, dangerous, unsafe, extremely poorly lit all around, once you got outside, and signage abysmal. so in short. same oul amateur shite as usual with the GAA/Aikens

Tbf if you're playing 28 tracks then there's plenty of scope to play the handful of massive hits and mix it up.

I ended up having an horrific night due to various health issues, which were compounded by the disgraceful exit system, and that partially flooded dark road we had to endure to get back to the city, and even though some very kind strangers tried to get me help, none was forth coming. I saw other people with disabilities struggling too, so shame on Aiken and whoever put that so called plan together.

However, while my experience was awful, I still think Bruce and the band put on an amazing show, as always. They played their hearts out. I did notice Stevie seemed a little off, but everyone else was on fire. I'm in the camp of having a diverse setlist. It's what makes a Bruce gig special. I thought the Santa Claus was hilarious. My highlights include My City of Ruins, and Rainy Night In Soho. The Pogues, and Victoria were backstage for this.
