I'd say behind the scenes they already have decided a date for it.

Its going to be a bloodbath for them no matter when they call it, its hard to think of a Government that is more hated than this one by both the left and right for different reasons.

Obviously the man is an idiot but he was given a hospital pass and I think a new department should be set up specifically to deal with immigration.

I also feel like he's a bit of a patsy or fall guy for a lot of things However,the fact that he's not smart enough or brave enough to speak about this tells me all I need to know about him.

i think Harris could be in trouble. Wicklow boundaries have been redrawn and has been reduced to a 4 seater.

John Brady (sf) will get in with high Bray following, as will Jennifer Whitmore (sd) who has done good work for schools places, especially in Greystones so could hoover up Harris supporters.

So that leaves 2 seats between Matthews (gp), Donnolly (ff) and Harris (fg). Then throw in any possible, right wing or other independent, things start to get interesting.

Of course a lot will depend on timing of any GE ans what has happened in the country/area in the lead up to it.

Harris or Donnelly, Not sure how are the viewed in the constituency, I think Harris will have the edge as he is Taoiseach and a party leader. But then again it will come down if they have a little agreement that they don't campaign in each others turf, like in Meath East were McEntee does not campaign below Slane and vice versa for the other FG TD, the reason Regina lost her seat. If Harris wasn't elected he would be the first sitting Taoiseach not to be elected in the history of the state. Currently Varadkar has the dubious record of being the only sitting Taoiseach not to be elected on the first count and not to bring in second seat for the party.

i suppose the thing with FF voters is, who Donnelly gets as running mate and whether the party faithful play nicely with transfers. Snell is going to walk the locals but not sure whether he wants to step up to a TD. Only time will tell.

Well Pat Casey will probably hope to be running mate, but turning up at protests or meetings doing an imitation of a statue defending FF ministers aint going to cut it anymore.

Donnelly I think is toast, die hard FFers will see him as a sleeveen that joined so he would be a minister, then did shag all as a minister and did shag all for his constituency.

I think Harris will get the middle and upper Greystones votes, but little else.

And a fair few people in Greystones that have had difficulties with their kids getting secondary places might wonder what their higher level education minister did for them.

He couldn't even be bothered turning up at any of their meetings unlike Whitmore.

He is saying all the correct stuff but is any actually implementation going to be started, if he really wanted to make change, get rid of ROG and Helen ASAP, toughen up the Justice department, merge with Integration, all good and well to talk big things but start doing, I'm wonder is it all waffle for the elections

Just on the thread of the title, does anyone find it ironic that Simon Harris is called the 'TikTok' Taoiseach (used as a pejorative) when MLMD, the Taoiseach in waiting has more TikTok followers than he has?

Real things that are happening (and happening reasonably quickly) like cutting the payments to AS to be in line with other countries in Europe is not corporate bluffer speak.

As I say if a local councillor suggested this a year ago they would be branded far right and senior ministers would condem them.Common sense is beginning to come through.

As I mentioned before,I'm not affiliated to any party and think Simon is a decent guy but out of his depth.This doesn't mean he can't get any credit when he does a good job on something.

Still have no idea what SFs masterplan for immigration is (which really is madness when you think about it)
