Love seeing goalkeepers looking stupid when the ball is nestling in the net they should be guarding. Thanks to Odhran Lynch for two moments of joy so far 😀.

What they get from him coming out certainly isn't worth the cost of the goals he concedes.

Derry's heads not in the right place. Donegal (or Armagh) weren't worried about the Div 2 final, Derry was their target.

No idea either what it is.

It might be a leftover from some other game there in the last while.

But if it's supposed to be a piece of marketing/public service announcement it's doing a terrible job of it.

Certainly not to contest kick outs that are landing well into their own half.

    Shocking kicking by Derry

Third division Clare are in the Sam Maguire championship thanks to their defeat of Waterford and securing a place in the Munster final.

Promoted Down lose out unless they make the Ulster final.

    Brilliant finish

AND LYNCH IS OUT OF HIS GOAL AGAIN

Never seen such stubborness not to change things up. One flick and Donegal are away.

Then again, Glass isn't exactly dominating around the middle either. Another 'meh' performance.

Keeper is an absolute fool has cost them the game. Glad a team has been caught out by that shite.

Someone is telling him to do it,going up to contest the Donegal kick out is madness

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,389 ✭✭✭enricoh

Mickey Harte throwing the game to concentrate on Sam? Can't believe keeper still pottering about, Donegal could have 5 goals out of it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,863 ✭✭✭robbiezero

Crazy. It is one thing to support your attack when you are in possession. At least you have the ball and are a long way from your own goal

Another to contest an opposition kick out that is landing in your half and you are being destroyed on.

Well someone needs to be sacked cause it's cost them the game.

Delighted to see Derry getting rolled over. Odhran Lynch is a joker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 735 ✭✭✭soap1978

Definitely agreed but Derry will have there eyes on the Sam then a hard run of Ulster championship

Reminiscent of Donegal blitzing Dublin 2014 AI SF. No coincidence who was behind it.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Harte has always made good use of the back door. His reward for beating an all Ireland winning manager today would have been playing another all Ireland winning manager (most likely), and then the final.

still can’t imagine he’d have wanted to lost at home like that, but the difference is fixable. Figured McGuinness would have a trick up his Sleeve but usually a manager learns/changes after the first hit…

That's a big blow to them as regards Sam. Tactically they were taken apart and they're going to have to change their goal keeper strategy.

Dublin got caught like that 10 years ago but you wouldn't see that happening to them now.

Derry's best chance may have slipped them by. The semi v Kerry last year. Crissie McKaigue etc were playing minor in 2007, a lot of miles. A few key men over 30 and also some with hard campaigns with Glen.

Get a great break before their next game will be a big help ,I wouldnt write them off but it's hard to see by dublin at the min

A lot of pressure on Mickey Harte now. Is he the man for the modern game or has it passed him by. Only as good as your last game.

I don't mean to sound ageist, but men like Harte and O'Rourke, mid to late 60s. Maybe younger men have their finger on the pulse.

They'll get a break etc but looked very naieve.

Ciaran Whelan correctly calling Lynch's stupidity "mindboggling".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,371 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

He has just won a league and stayed in div 1 comfortably. I think it is just rewriting in hindsight creating a narrative.

Mick O'Dwyer and Pete McGrath did a great job as managers in their twilight years.

Derry's style suits Harte, but Donegal just did it better.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

It is actually an easier route when the hype dies down. Even Mayo managed runs through the "back door" to the business end of the championship. Less pressure, less notice.

I had to laugh at Peter Canavan aka "God" blaming the league on Derry's defeat. Implying the other sides were smart not to get to a league final. But completely ignoring the fact that BOTH sides had got to a league final, played on the same fecking day!!!

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

    I see it differently GormDubh.

He won the league. In 5 years time very few will remember who won the 2024 league. The championship is where it's at and always has been at. My county, Laois, won the League in 1986 beating Down, Dublin, Monaghan en route. The year is more remembered for the Battle of Aughrim, losing to Wicklow with 12 men.

Pete McGrath's big wins with Down 1991, 1994 were in his 40s. Mick O'Dwyer organised teams like Wicklow and Clare in his twilight coaching years. He was winning at a lower level.

I've a feeling we're looking at a tired Derry, who missed the boat over the past 2 years.

At the end of the day championship is what you're judged on, there's no hindsight. I'll take my words back if they are a force come AI semi stage.

Derry will be a Seed 3 now. As a Seed 1 last year they got Clare as the Seed 2 in their Group. They could both be in the same Group again.

The paint on the pitch was a message to "Stop the Killings". Some people broke in overnight. It was partly scrubbed out before the game.

Today showed there is still life left in the provincial championships.

Div 2 Cork put it up to Kerry and were leading by 4 points at one stage before Kerry got the win by 3.

Real get out of jail card used by Galway and heart break for Div 3 Sligo who looked heading into added time were going to get a famous win.

Last but not least Donegal who played their league football in Div 2 this spring taking out the Div 1 champions. Goals wins matches and Jimmy is winning matches again for Donegal.
