I'm so hopeful for our country now seeing Harris rolling his sleeves up, hitting the ground running, and finally tackling Ireland biggest concern - recognizing a Palestinian state. Fitting that this should happen six months after their terrorist attack on Israel. When done it will lay the groundwork to begin negotiations for Palestine's membership to the EU, something I know a majority of Irish people want to see happen.

Oh I am "OK" with it now. Not "condone" anymore. What other words would you like to put in my mouth?

And yet you refuse to answer straightforward questions - how would you solve it? Take your time now. How would you solve it?

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

You'd have to wonder how long FF will put up with this showboating. I think Martin and Harris will clash as we get closer to the elections.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

We had an election ,my friend, and its still valid.

There will be a GE in less than a year so cool your jets and use your vote in less than twelve months time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,225 ✭✭✭creedp

Why so sensitive about me mentioning you drove a diesel since as you have now repeatedly posted that you have previously posted that you drive a diesel? I was only trying to rationalise why someone responding to a post about driving ICEs decided to only reference diesels.

The only reason that would happen is so that people are put under the illusion that there's any difference at all between FF and FG…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,088 ✭✭✭Clo-Clo

How can you be critical of his performance in his post when he was been lambasted on here before he even started

Majority was about his education levels.

Wow. And meanwhile McEntee was let continue in the job. Light sentencing for abusing children.

Another nail in the FG coffin.

    https://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/harris-says-becoming-taoiseach-quite-a-rollercoaster-1612487.html

He said he first got involved in public life as a “moody opinionated teenager” campaigning for better school facilities for his brother with autism in Co Wicklow.

Mr Harris added: “So to go from there to here, it’s been quite a rollercoaster. But, I intend to give it my all.”

So not much has changed since then, still very much self opinionated.

As usual your free to make your own twisted conclusion, from a post.

I never said I was OK with online abuse in any form, who ever it is targeted at.

    Or that I condone it.

@Cluedo Monopoly Twitter use to be a very effective media tool for politicians. We will see if it is still effective in upcoming elections and the next GE. And yes there is report tools on twitter.

@Clo-Clo Don't know how you've interacted on twitter if all your seeing is online abuse. Are you going out of your way to find it?

How Did We End Up With Simon Harris as Taoiseach?! | The Millennial Cynic

    3,300 views 12 Apr 2024
Today I take a look at our new Taoiseach Soundbite Simon Harris, and ask how on earth we ended up in this mess. A Taoiseach no one wants, propped up by a government no one wants. A Taoiseach who failed upwards into the highest office in the land, aided and abetted by a Fianna Fáil party undergoing an identity crisis.

The other interesting thing about that video (and she makes good points), is the background picture and the placement of certain (you'd think prominent) ministers wayyyy at the back, or almost hidden by others.

    Stage-managed to the last.

Varadkar stated that, ““Twitter, as it used to be called, has always been a bit of a sewer as far as social media goes”.

Why would you want to stay on a “sewer”? Why would a ‘bright young man’ use a social media network he himself calls a sewer?

Politicians these days seem to think that they know best, and the proles should let them get on with it and look up to them like royalty. They work for us, not the other way around. Ireland is a country, not a business or a commodity. It is being run into the ground but because of the leprechaun economics it looks like we’re rolling in money and the politicians look upon that as success. A very hard reset is needed politically in Ireland. I can’t see it happening though.

I have no idea what this post is about to be honest 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,391 ✭✭✭corkie

Brought up in the comments of the youtube video I linked earlier.

Is that under the constitution if the Taoiseach resigns, then effectively his cabinet has as well.

That is why they had to go to Aras for seals of office.

Haven't check the constitution if that is true.

You’re complaining about Twitter, a sewer, as described by our former leader and other politicians like Simon complain about abuse on it.

If you went into a pub and you thought it was like a sewer, and people were abusive towards you, would you stay? Would you go back the next day, and the next, and the next?? The poor me nonsense doesn’t work when you keep putting yourself into the sewer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,088 ✭✭✭Clo-Clo

You see, the difference here is in the pub the person would have to walk up to you. Identify themselves and also to everyone else in the room

They would get thrown out of the pub, be a total embarrassment to their families and friends. plus if done at the wrong time risk losing their jobs etc

If they done it once, they would get thrown out, next time they would be barred

I would be more than happy to sit and have a pint with civilised people

    So who is talking nonsense?

I have 2 accounts one for my blogging and one for my journalism. Is there anything wrong with that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,074 ✭✭✭skimpydoo

I have just explained about my multiple accounts and if you don't like my explanation please jog on. Why are you happy to attack anyone who is anti government?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,074 ✭✭✭skimpydoo

I am not a fan of government and voted no in the 2 recent referendums as it was the right thing to do. I would be voting yes for this because it is the right thing to do. People won't be voting no because they have a gripe with the current government like they didn't vote no on the recent referendums because of a government gripe. They will be voting for what is the right thing. It's also worth noting that all the major political parties advocated a yes vote in the recent referendums.

Well maybe try reading it again slowly. I got exactly what the post is about. Is this your way of getting out responding to it?

I asked for clarity, got it and responded on this thread as you would have seen

I just pointed out you ran multiple accounts on twitter

“Happy to attack” well if you can see me attacking someone then call it out

I am more than happy to discuss a topic but I don’t feel the need to attack the poster or post sectarian nonsense

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,225 ✭✭✭creedp

You must live in some Utopian world if thats how you see a bit of robust debate in a pub ending up. I see this kind of codswallop going on with kids in school these days. Even if certain kids look sideways at another they are accused of bulling by over protective virtuous parents. My sister was telling me that her son was accused of bullying by the parents of a girl in his class because he didn't want to sit beside her (she didn't like him and the feeling was mutual!) at a schol choir. Thankfully the principal told them to take a rain check (or cry him a river). Can you imagine the potential snowflake that child could turn out to be if that's how her parents are rearing her

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,088 ✭✭✭Clo-Clo

Doesn’t really matter where I live does it?

if you walk into a pub and someone starts abusing you then yes the person will get kicked out or more likely their family/friend will pull them out and tell them to cop on. That’s not in any utopia, it’s just how grown up act in public.

Not sure what the story has to do with anything?

People won't be voting no because they have a gripe with the current government

They will though. I would love it if I thought everyone voted according to an actual view on the referendum at hand, but they just don't.

I don't agree with delaying/cancelling it for what it's worth.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,225 ✭✭✭creedp

Great that everyone gets on so well, no wonder people end up in echo chambers if everyone is constantly clapping them on the back and cheering them on for being a great guy. Come to think of it maybe you socialise at political party annual conferences.

    Just ignore it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,431 ✭✭✭combat14

simon harris seems more interested in being a Palestinian middle east politician than running the country and solving the housing, health, immigration, education etc. crisises facing his own country caused by FG over the last 14 years - doesn't seem like he is off to a good start

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,088 ✭✭✭Clo-Clo

    What are you talking about?

Just because people aren’t abusing each other to their face I live in a “utopia” or a “echo chamber”?

Another little dig in the post about the “political party annual conferences” 🤦‍♂️

Time maybe to put the device down?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,225 ✭✭✭creedp

Didn't realise it was a dig at you, just a general comment that people attending political party conferences operate in an echo chamber where no criticism is profferred or acceptable. Tbh I think you take it all a bit too personally.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,074 ✭✭✭skimpydoo

By pointing out I have multiple accounts on Twitter/X you were insuating something. Why bring it up?

Pleased to see he has set up a task force on safety in Dublin. I believe the report will take 6 weeks and then hopefully we will see it implemented and positive changes in the city. This is such a big issue for me and I am glad he seems to be taking it seriously but only time will tell... I was disappointed that he kept Helen McEntee in justice as I feel we need a change there.

I am pleased that he took such a strong stance on Palestine and is giving it the importance it deserves. I am proud to see Ireland and Spain reported around the world taking leadership on this issue.
