Hopefully that will be the catalyst for the rest of the season

if Connacht let Farrell go it’ll be some of their worst business in history

At least we finally saw out a close game. Hopefully can make a habit of it

Wasn't able to watch today, but looks like a hell of a game.

Time to get some revenge on the Italians next weekend.

Missed nearly the whole game but that's a great result, especially to seal it with a fantastic Prendergast try. They needed that win and they need to carry on this momentum.

Delighted that it's irrelevant now! Great win.

Two incredible moments from Prendergast in the last 10 minutes, first busting a gut to dive on a loose ball in our 22 and then beating their centre on the outside after a 50m break. Herculean stuff, and he does it for 80 minutes every week. Hopefully he can pick up some more caps as POM starts to wind down.

If Tom Farrell does leave, I hope it's not because we haven't made him an offer.

Hugely important win after the last few performances and results. The experience of Bundee was invaluable at key times.

Still an incredibly frustrating performance at times but it was important we didn't capitulate when it went to 20-12 and 30-19 and to be fair we didn't.

I'm not going to change my tune after one result given the muck we've serves up recently but it was a bit like the old days where we'd beat some half arsed French team to keep the season alive and paper over the cracks. After the disgraceful performance against Lions (that looks worse with each passing week) it's a small step in the right direction.

The optimistic side of me says we are on the good side of the draw. I'll try delude myself for the next week. 😁

We must ensure Tom Farrell stays.

I think we'll nick it against Benetton/Italy, they're not that good even with the internationals back.

MIke Adamson announced as ref for next weekend

There will be no fear going to Benetton and hopefully the team is out for revenge after the last game.

Not sure where this is going to bring us but let's see. I agree with Zeugnis when he says that negativity does not breed positivity.

I enjoyed the game, enjoyed the Bolton Jennings axis with TOH in control.

Still I'm reluctant to say how this will end.

Coaching has been shocking and I'm reluctant to say they can get a freebee on the basis of this performance

If the personnel from the Pau game is all available for Treviso, we should beat them. It was only a basic defensive lapse that cost us the last game against them.

Agreed but hopefully equally poor for both sides I suppose is all we can hope for.....

Where has the tom Farrell leaving rumours come from? Been out of the loop on that one?

I do find it mystifying that Mike Adamson is still making the grade. Him being involved automatically makes this a poorer game. He's one referee who is guaranteed to frustrate both sides. As long as Frank Murphy isn't the ref I don't get too bothered about it either way though.

Personally I haven't seen any rumours from decent sources but was more thinking it may be on the cards due to the way he hasnt been selected much this season bar an odd game here and there usually followed by a long gap until we see him (granted it could be injury related when we dont get many updates now about those) while we have been trying to shoehorn others (mainly Hawkshaw recently) into the 13 jersey.

Hopefully regardless of his contract status after last weekend he is fit to start this weekend as our attack functions so much better when he is at 13.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,319 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

Agreed - it's cup rugby, pick your strongest team. If the coaches are convinced Hawkshaw can be a starter at 13 in the future I understand the need to get him gametime there, but that can be done the following two weeks against Zebre and Dragons. I would go for something like the below for Benetton, making some guesses around injuries:

15-9, 1-8: O'Halloran, Jennings, Farrell, Aki, Smith, Hanrahan, Blade; Buckley, Heffernan, Bealham, N Murray, Joyce, Prendergast, Hurley-Langton, Boyle

16-23: McElroy, Dooley, Aungier, D Murray, Oliver, Jansen, Reilly, Forde

I actually prefer Carty to Hanrahan in general but the thought the latter had one of his better games for us at the weekend and goalkicking could be crucial in what's likely to be a tight game. McElroy and Dooley have disappeared the past few weeks but I'm not aware of either being injured.

Is Bolton unlikely to be available? I know he went off injured. Missed what happened. If he were fit I think himself and Jennings deserve to be retained

    Squad update:

Butler is undergoing RTP and won't be available

Bolton and Aungier are unavailable this week

McDonald and Killgallen both had surgery last week, McDonald should be available late May, Killgallen won't be available again this season

Jansen and Dowling should be available next week for Zebre

Hansen and Ralson should be back for Dragons game at the end of April

Cordero still on track to be available at the end of May

does this update suggest Boyle and SOB avairable this week-end? If that is the case very good. And I hope to see Devine (who was not used at Pau match) this week-end.
