    Lads,

did any of you guys pay for :

    Value Added Products €777
    (GAP & Paint & Fabric Protection )

Or is it just crap that you can choose to avoid ?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 42,110 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

get paint protection by a proper detailer after delivery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,478 ✭✭✭✭dodzy

So I can just refuse that €777 add-on of the GAP insurance and the paint/interior protection ? I'm sure it would not be up to anywhere near a proper detailers level of work.

Any recommendations for a good detailer in the Bray neck of the woods ?

Anyone get PPF (Paint Protection Film) on their seal? Thoughts?

I used Detailing Guys in Dun Laoghaire for Correction and Ceramic Coating on my Seal and I was very happy with them

    Really depends on your perspective.
Are you talking full coverage or just the front end?

I wouldn't bother if it's a PCP job. If it was a keeper I'd do it tbh.

I was thinking full coverage, but front only could also be an option to protect against stone chips, I guess. Do you have it on your car @Gumbo

Hi all first time poster in the last stages of purchasing a seal Design RWD. Speaking to two garages and one salesman salesman recommends to stick to the 90% charging while the other states that the battery has no recommended charging profile and can go 100% every time if required without effecting the capacity. Also what are typical car insurance costs with the higher HP, male over 40 full NCB

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,278 ✭✭✭RainInSummer

Life's too short to be worrying about charging. 100% and be there.

Too many variables in insurance to say, but I always seemed to pay over the odds despite being clean for 30 years driving.

I got a €32 refund moving from a 62kWh Leaf to the AWD Seal. I'm not even attempting to figure out why a more expensive car with more than twice the BHP is cheaper.

The blade LFP technology means charging to 100 percent isn't really an issue versus earlier battery setups and chemical stacks.

Insurance seems to be fairing well so far. What happens into the future who knows. The insurers data will dictate that. Right now it's negible pricing

No, i don’t have it. I don’t keep cars long enough to justify the €5k+ cost to be honest.

Might be different if I had something rare and special but not a daily driver mass produced car.

I'm moving from 520d to RWD Seal, 5 months left on existing policy, going from 12k cover to 50k and they are refunding me €60 for the remainder of the policy. Needless to say, I did not question their logic. As per Listermint's post above, charging to MAX is not frowned upon it would appear, with the blade technology.

My insurance gave me a refund of €106 when I changed mid policy to a RWD Seal from an Audi A6 (182) I charge mine up twice a week from 75/80% to a 100%. As for painting protection I will stick to the good old Collinite 845 which has stood me very well and other cars up to now. Will give it a good coat with Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0.when the weather gets warmer.

i suspect seals will be cheaper to repair than most EV's based on the fact BYD has 3 warehouses in europe for parts. there was a story on here of a seal which was rear ended and off the road for 3 weeks which is good considering the length of time tesla take to deliver spare parts or other manufacturers in general. the knock-on effect you would hope might result in lower insurance premiums.

Can that go on over the Collinite?

    Edit: Nevermind. No.

Yes you can do it both way before or after if you wish, but ideally for best results use the Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 as base coat after dewaxing, leave it settle in a dry inviroment for at least 12hrs and then apply the Collinite Wax.

Cool. Where did you get it out of curiosity. Not seeing a supplier in Europe that will deliver to Ireland.

Friend of mine in England got for me from Motorgeeks, and then he sent it over to me. that was about 3years ago. I know they don't post to Ireland.

lads, how long did it take for you guys from collection to online motortax window opening up ? What is the latest software version you guys are running? True to fashion, no V2L in boot but secured one before leaving. Radio signal poor as previously mentioned by others. Will get stuck into it at the weekend for a play around.
