Is there no actual prize? Just a trophy??

Didn't they used to win a jeep or cash or something? A trophy won't pay for their physio!

I think the prize is the exposure, Marie Louise in particularly is definitely going to gain more followers and was already trying to become "a fitness fluencer" not knocking her at all, I was delighted she won, but, she definitely entered Gladiators for the exposure. She was on Lorraine this morning and I expect to see her do the rounds on other chat shows. Some of the other contestants were also on it for the exposure to increase their profile , there were some who seemed genuinely in it for the competition, but, not that many. Even Finlay who I would have thought wasn' into the exposure wants to become one of the Gladiators next season.

ML annoyed the crap out of me tbh. Her showboating was boring and she looked stupid on The Edge in the heats dancing when she should have kept going. My kids were dying for her to win but I was secretly rooting for anyone she was against.

The men's final was cracking! Insanely quick.

The ladies less so. Aneila was very lucky to make the final, I think she got through as a fastest loser twice? The fact she lost the semi to a woman basically on one leg says it all.

Loved this series. The men's final was brilliant - both competitors were really impressive throughout the competition and either one was a deserving winner. Two really likeable guys. A huge shame that Zavia couldn't compete in the women's final - Aneila was a poor substitute. But I think Amanda wouldn't have won either way.

Legend makes the show. I'll miss it every week now!

Agree the ladies final wasn't great, not great having a contestant who was already beaten twice, in the final, a shame zavia was injured, Aneila was never going to win the eliminator especially as she had lost to an injured Zavia, despite having a lead. The men's final was very good, the wall probably tipped things slightly in Joe's favour, had they had a normal race, Mus might have won that event.

The only aspect about Gladiators that's slightly unfair is a contestant can get lucky and face a Gladiator who is weak in certain events while the other contestant can face a Gladiator who is strong in a certain event. Sometimes you can see they try to even things up by making a weaker contestant face a weaker Gladiator e.g. Viper is obviously weaker in most events than the other Gladiators. Or in powerball there will be 2 Gladiators on one contestant and only 1 Gladiator on the other contestant.

New series started tonight. A great first episode - some really strong contestants and it was very close in the end. Brilliant tv.

Agreed. Brilliant opening episodes. Was surprised to see a few Gladiators being beaten both in duel and the one up in the air.

Some very close calls between the 2 contestants aswell both in The Wall event and the Eliminator!

I was beginning to wonder was there an unwritten rule that only smaller men were selected for the show.

Its good to see a tall strong lad like Finn who is well able to hold his own against the gladiators.

Speaking of which it was a bad night for them.

Yeah, great fun as always. Legend will be a big loss for the rest of the series with his injury though.

That is harsh on Tyler to lose in the eliminator....Josh had less events in his legs.

Both finals almost identical, in that the leader fell just at the right time for their opponent to take advantage, the winners both had time to rest before taking on the eliminator. Exceptionally harsh on Tyler in particular as Josh was fresh in, not really fair when a contestant gets dropped in mid competition.

They need to look at having an agreed time penalty in the Eliminator for replacement competitors, based on how many events they have skipped.

Also the issue of bringing out the ladder to assist a competitor who falls at the rope climb or monkey bars part of the Eliminator needs to be addressed. That's not fair if they went on to win either (ie Vogue). I do think though that very short competitors, such as Nikki last week, are at a disadvantage trying to reach the monkey bars and maybe a higher step for those under a certain height to stand on to reach the bars should be considered. I think they used to have that or similar in the original series.

Football has gone to extra time but hopefully it will be on after, maybe at 8.30pm.

I think they need a couple of rule changes in things like Collision. Like contenders can't block/push gladiators out of the way. The women did this a lot. And if the ball touches the ground, the points don't count. Think Powerball has this rule and it would stop ones diving. Of course, having to stay on your feet the whole time unless knocked down would also be a good one.

Dunno what Steel was at on Hang Tough. He didn't seem to want to commit to grab on to the contender, which he should've done when his tactic wasn't working.
