Don’t like Ocon at all either. Truly unlikeable that chap.

Anyway, Piastri struggling a bit compared to his teammate unfortunately.

Max looks up at the TV screen every time coming down pitlane.

So much for that new directive to prevent slowdown or stopping in the pit lane…

    Mercedes in trouble

Yeah track evolution saved them there.

    Some lap from Hulk.

Hulkenberg often does well in quali, ill be surprised if he comes away with points tomorrow.

Similar to last season so with Stroll being well beaten by Alonso.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,341 ✭✭✭✭MadYaker

Most drivers on the grid would be well beaten by Alonso in the same car.

Some great single lap runs, really interested to see the race pace on the front runners

Max on pole position. Very close but same outcome as the last couple of years.

Nearly 1/4 of a second between Max on pole and Leclerx in P2, foreboding.

However 1/4 odd of a second between Leclerc in P2 and Hamilton in P9.

Didn't see all the laps but noticed Max got 2 good tows there at the start of both laps.

Yeah decent lap from Russell. Sergio only 3 tenths off Max’s pace wasn’t too bad, starts 5th I think so he should get a podium.

    Disappointing from both McLarens.

Very close qualifying session, looks like there's basically nothing between the top 3 teams over one lap with the only difference being how much the drivers extracted out of the car on the lap. McLaren just a tiny amount behind the other top teams and Alonso being Alonso getting in the mix. The entire top 9 are close enough on pace that any of them could be on the podium depending on how tyre wear and strategy goes tomorrow, it should be a great race.

Doesn’t like any of the big driver gaps have changed in the off season but early days I guess.

Hopeful that Ferrari have been working on tyre preservation but the LeClerc and Russell interviews acknowledged a big gap is still expected.

Interested to see will the DRS after lap 1 keep a battle for 1st going materially longer.

I doubt either Ricciardo or Tsnouda are getting anywhere near Ferrari tomorrow so I doubt RB will be any threat. 😜

    This too shall pass.

Ah well that's that then. Championship over before it's even begun.

Just think about where McLaren were this time last year and where they ended up.

    This too shall pass.

I was hoping Ferrari would have Red Bull over one lap at least...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,152 ✭✭✭✭PsychoPete

In fairness they have 50% of RedBull over one lap, Verstappen is just a robot

The start of this season looks like it could come down to race intelligence and fortunate track positions. Not the walk in the park people expected for Redbull
