Maybe they have not approached him or maybe he is too proud to do that and give in to what might be a rival. Who knows.

Why are Piastri and Stroll listed as driver 1?

I was going to say the order was by driver height per team but Hulk wrecks that theory. 😂

Not sure what the order is in the constructor pic either. Unless @rameire knows?

    Honestly do not know,

    The images are from Formula1.com

I cannot work it out myself.

Each pairing is in T-cam order, black then yellow.

Traditionally the driver who finishes ahead in the championship gets the black T-cam but Hamilton and Norris both requested the yellow T-cam so they could match their helmets. I'm not sure about Alonso but it probably has to do with Stroll Sr - in 2019 Stroll Jr inherited the yellow t-cam from Ocon, but when Perez got the boot and the team was rebranded to AM Stroll Jr took over the black t-cam and Vettel was given the yellow t-cam, which Alonso inherited.

Edit: it's also interesting that they're still using the neon green for Russell's driver number. He started out using it on his livery last year but switched to blue at some point. I prefer the blue, the green was too close to Hamilton's yellow. I miss the neon numbers and colour patches they had on the W14, it made it very easy to distinguish them, but they've gone with no colours on the numbers or halo on the W15.

    Cheers @gryfothegreat, mystery solved.

I was watching the Autosport race preview on YT and they said this will be the 20th anniversary of the race! Had to Google it to make sure and yep the first Bahrain GP was in 2004. That is depressing! 😁

Yeah in 2011 there was no GP because of civil unrest.

On the other hand weren't they one of the countries with double races during covid so maybe nets off

F2 free practice on now, these cars don’t look too bad actually. Think it’s that Harry Benjamin chap commentating along with Alex Brundle, good combo.

FP1 for the big boys starting now in a minute. Will be interesting to see if there are any new parts on the cars since testing.

Haas in a world of pain, Alpine between heaven & hell and the rest within a second.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,115 ✭✭✭rameire

I hope Haas are really not that far off, pointless running if they are.

Especially with the reasons given for Andretti not being accepted…! If they’re not bringing something to the sport then wtf to the FIA think Haas are doing 🤷🏻‍♂️

The only hope for them is if they're carrying enough sandbags to fill the Sahara. I don't think so though.

Results from FP2. Merc looking in good shape unless they running in a higher engine mode. RBR were looking better in the longer runs though. Quali going to be fascinating tomorrow afternoon.

Its going to be a long and hard year for this Alpine fan.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,284 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

    Rumoured to be 10kg overweight...

Long runs looked terrifying from Red Bull, and the data suggests they didn't turn up the wick, along with cooler temps. The Sky broadcast team were creaming themselves with a Merc 1-2

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,946 ✭✭✭duffman13

Actually crazy the reaction from the Merc performance yesterday. I think they'll definitely be more competitive this year but it's FP2 and people losing the run of themselves.

If Hulkenberg being within a tenth of Verstappen doesnt give them a clue as to yesterday's times then I don't know what to say.

Alpines pace is probably the only team consistent in terms or performance seen through testing and free practice. It'll be interesting to see how this season goes after dumping Ottmar mid season but it's a poor start for them

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,131 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

Read elsewhere Alpine are 10-15kg over the weight limit. That's nuts

Marko said it was the much cooler temps and gusty wind that might have been the cause of the lack of pace from the RBR. I doubt they had the engines turned up full beans either, the suggestion being that Merc had. Probably add into the mix that the Red Bull is kinder on its tyres which hurts them in quali compared to the race, same as last year.

Whatever the reasons, it does look like quali will be tighter which will make the race a bit more interesting, for the first few laps anyway. Come on Max!! 😁😁
