The sight of yourself and Rubick dancing to Rock your Body would sell tickets on it's own.

Rock your Body excellent tune Seathrun.

His Softmore album was also excellent then he took a long break for movies and hasn't had a good song since.

It shows the state of affairs/expectations when most of us would be very happy with Justin Timberlake.

The first gig I ever went to back in 2007 at the RDS when I was a kid. It was fairly impressive from memory he puts on a good show, his first album was mostly produced by The Neptune's (N.E.R.D) and second by Timbaland both really good, for pop anyway. I actually enjoyed his most recent album a few years back somewhat but had a lot of mediocre stuff over the years. Music tastes have changed/evolved since I seen him but like as mentioned, wouldn't go to a solo gig but would be very happy to see at a festival.

I really enjoyed N.E.R.D. back in 2018 at EP not thinking I really would, just had lots of fun and would reckon the same if JT ever played. Still find it crazy Timbaland and Pharrell are cousins, and had a band when they were young in the early 90s.

Ah now to be fair, we know we're going to get pop act headliners, but there are very different levels of quality of them and he'd be decent.

C14N probably put it best a few posts back, a lot of us wouldn't pay to see him but a bit like with Robbie Williams or others of that ilk, a good sunny day, bit of grub in the belly and a nice buzz going, that type of act can rightly hit a fun spot.

Well, wait to to you hear what has been discussed about Boardies that miss a year getting A Boot Up The Hole.

And if it degenerates into a Benny Hill-esque chase around Trailer Park, so much the better.

I think we all yearn for the early days of EP but that’s gone and there’s no point shouting at clouds. Personally I’m relatively happy with the Glasto-ish eclectic nature of current lineups from trad at Croi to the quirkiness of Fishtown, Salty Dog and Trailer Park, from some decent pop and indie on the main stage to the varied material in the tents.

I’d prefer the Mary Chain and Stooges on the big stage at the end of the evening but if we’re going to have pop then I’m happy with the Billie Eilish, NERD, Lana Del Ray variety. And the best of Timberlake fits into that category. Last Sept there wasn’t a single hour where I was struggling for an act to see. I expect the same this year.

If anyone is looking for Harvest Moon camping, I have a Deluxe Bell Tent for two for sale. Pink moon, the company who runs the Harvest Moon camping, won’t give me a full refund 😬 It’s quite expensive too - €1385. Charging exactly what Harvest Moon charged me

The Boardmasters line up the week before EP.

There's a good lot off of that I'd take. I thought the latest Chase and Status album was very good, had a lot of good tunes over the years. Very trendy at the minute too, I wonder could they be late night dance headliner.

Stormzy popping up a lot too.

Kenya grace seems to be playing a lot of festivals around then too, I reckon it's just the type of act EP would book for tier 2. Usually not the type of act I'd like but thought that new number 1 "Strangers" was decent, liquid drum and bass sort of all self produced.

Have also been happy with N.E.R.D., Billie Eillish, Lana, JT and all great artists in their own right but just goes to show where expectations are now, considering we've had plenty of poor headliners too over the past few years.

You’ll probably have better luck over on toutless.

I was actually thinking of NERD as a frame of reference for Timeberlake. Saw them in 2018 and it was the same kind of story. Wouldn't be buying tickets to see them play the 3 Arena, but they were headling at a festival I was already going to anyway so I went along and had a good time. Even if an act has some mediocre stuff in the catalogue, as long as they're decent performers and have a few decent (and lively) hits to get the crowd going, you'll be able to have a good time checking them out.

Well, Greta Van Fleet might have been nice from that list.

I would have been quite happy to see Bleachers or Belle and Sebastian off that list myself

Not an exclusive though as far as I’m aware. Can’t see them doing EP anyway as the lineup won’t be to their taste. They’re too big for Croi and they’re fully aware that they’d get frustrated with the yapping in the tents.

I’d take a fair few from here.

I've a feeling we'll get something this Friday. Likely didn't want to get sidelined by the recent big gig announcements the last week or two. Now these have passed I can't see it going beyond this Friday for an initial line-up announcement. People will want to arrange their summer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,696 ✭✭✭Fanirish

Invitations for line up haven’t gone out so might be March 7th or 14th.

launch party usually on a Thursday evening

Soft Play have festivals the weekends either side of Electric Picnic but nothing that weekend so I'd say a very definite possibility for a return... or have they ever played Stradbally?
