Organ donor opt out

I am an organ donor, have been for years but there is something about this that im not comfortable with, im actually thinking of opting out because I think there is something very off about this.

what do you guys think? any conspiracies relating to this?

Why? Does the fact that there are hundreds of people awaiting organs not make you think this is a good idea or do you think that Leo is just wanting to harvest our organs for a big "eat the rich" type banquet?

For the record, I've carried an organ donor card for a number of decades and also gave blood and then platelets (until a health issue unfortunately put an end to that).

Because im not naive, and I don't care if the UK and other countries have an opt out system, that doesn't mean it is right.

In general I wouldnt trust most Governments, I know the person is dead but these are your organs we are talking about, its very arrogant of the Government to do this in my opinion. and what will the next step be? that they will take your organs from you when dead even if you dont want that?

Make it easy for what? It will back fire on people who need organs, and hopefully they bring in legislation that states anyone who isn't willing to donate can't receive any organs.

But you do want yours donated as you said earlier. Just changing your mind now not to make it easy for the government. You made your donation decision for a reason and I would assume that was to help others.

So you have discussed this topic with loads of people and of those that you spoke to, "a lot" of them are against the idea? Did they say why they were against the idea that they might help someone after they are dead?

You're wrong. My left arm is like a pin cushion from giving blood donations. I got a call a few years back to see if I could give blood to help a new born that was AB+. If I get hit by a bus tomorrow, I'll be happy out if my scraps make a difference to someone else. If you want to do something useful, go give blood.

In the past I did a lot of campaigning re organ donation, and a friend got 25+ extra years, doubled his lifespan having had a lung transplant, having had his own lungs destroyed by CF. I had Ulcerative Colitis, so couldn’t be an organ donor, and later was diagnosed with MS, so instead I am giving my brain to neuro research.

Maybe they will transplant my shrivelled brain into some poor sod who will have to experience life as I do 😁🤣

Giving blood is a great thing to do, I used to do that before I got sick, hope I didn’t pass on any horrible disease 😢 to a recipient. Later during and after colectomy surgery I needed at least 8 units. Blood is always needed.

If they're that passionately opposed they can simply opt out. If they're so ill informed to not be aware of the system in place, that's their fault and nobody else's. And the reality is, most won't want to opt out.
