Excellent work - thanks. On the Energia site they say that the Standing Charge for Rural is the same as Urban: €236.62 - is that a glitch on their site or can anybody here confirm their Rural rate please?

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators Posts: 7,015 Mod ✭✭✭✭graememk

For DN it's €378.10 for rural

    24 hr 301.72

Got it from bonkers, there is somewhere in the website that has it, but can't find it

I gave up looking 😂 It's like a maze trying to find out simple facts with utility companies.

Did you give your MPRN number? Without it they will probably quote an urban standing charge. I entered MPRN just now and was quoted €300.91 on the desktop website. Other platforms might give erroneous results.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 asmokinshadwo

Yeah I did put in the MPRN and it's still €236 for the Smart Drive tarriff. Where I live is definately rural. I did it on my laptop. Even if it's actually €301 for Energia standing charge it's still cheaper than Electric Ireland - their €435 is crazy. They're who I'm with currently - I just got my PV and Battery installed on Friday and switched to Home Electric + Nightboost. As I knew it would my Standing Charge jumped by over €100. I'm planning on switching in the next couple of weeks. I think other companies will announce reductions soon.

Got my panals installed today. We had a snart day/night meter installed back at the start of the month. How long after the panals have been installed will we start getting paid for surplus power going to grid and do I need to contact my current electricity supplier?

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators Posts: 7,015 Mod ✭✭✭✭graememk

    Basically straight away.

And no you don't have to contact your electricity supplier.

Just make sure you get confirmation from ESBN that they received your NC6 form because sometimes they lose it or the installer might not have sent it in. Keep the email confirmation to be safe!

This, keep on your installer for it to be submitted or better yet CC you on the email to esbn. Its the kind of admin stuff that gets forgotten after an install.

After switching providers late last year and losing access to my online account, I'm struggling to calculate how much I gained from microgeneration in 2023. Any advice on how I could calculate it? It didn't all come back to my account as it was incorporated into bills.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,258 ✭✭✭con747

Are the bills not itemised to show your FIT payments?

    Edit

I think you mean you can't access your last account to see payments? Can you go through your emails and see if anything there? Search the trash and bin in your email account?

do you have a smart meter? Do you use much electricity at night? Immersion? Washing machine? Dishwasher etc…?

Looks like the Energia website has been updated, hopefully a bit easier to see import/export usage now.

Where do you see that, I can find it. I was swapped to a smart meter in Nov I think, and still can't see my data ?

Was given a prompt when logging in today for the new insights, it is under usage.

    Hi All.

First post go easy. I got my NC6 confirmation from the ESB.6kw of S face panels & 10kwh battery in Wexford.

I'm with flogas fixed rate with a digital d/n meter (not smart).

What are options regarding FIT ? Am I out of luck being on the fixed rate? Will I need to get a "smart" meter? Can I get a smart D/N yet?

Ideally I'd just get deemed export or has that ship sailed ?

    thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,139 ✭✭✭Mr Q

I'm with Flogas. Had a digital d/n meter until about October and I was getting deemed export.

They then changed it to a smart d/n meter so the export is measured and paid based on this. So getting a smart d/n meter isn't an issue.

I think at the time I was told I would lose the deemed export if didn't change meter by a certain date. I don't know how it works for someone starting to export currently.

    Thats great Info Mr Q.

    I suppose time will tell.

Question for the pinergy folk here on the export.

Got my first bill and it's showing as 25c per unit however their site says that's VAT excluded:

    image.png

Should they pay us 27.5c in that case? Or am I not reading that right?

Hi folks, I am with Energia on their D/N EV plan with a standard D/N meter as I have avoided the new smart meter until after the winter period.

I finally received x2 month bill in post after a delay due FIT calculation from ESB. My FIT payment has dropped from €67.03. (Oct - DEC 2023) for 279 units @€0.24 to a €7.09 FIT for the period (DEC - Feb 2024). Energia blame ESB for the FIT calculation.

I have 20 PV panels with 6kw inverter no battery. A €60 recuction in deemed export seems incorrect.

Is this correct, as I thought the Deemed Export was a fixed amount on size of inverter or are ESB networks penalising me for avoiding the smart meter?

Any thoughts before I contact ESB?

    Many thanks

Further... I just contacted ESB who say its Energia who are in charge of the calculation and any issues with FIT calculation they need to investigate - I sense an incoming merry-go-round!!

If you are receiving deemed export it doesn't matter what you generate because it's based on inverter size not actual production.

When you say "I have avoided the new smart meter" ?? Did some one contact you to install a smart meter and you refused?

If so that would make you no longer eligible for deemed export. There are new smart meters which allow you stay on your existing D/N plan. Am assuming you just mean a normal Day/Night plan. (8/9 till 11/12 depending on time of year) An EV specific plan is more likely a Smart plan with a 3 or 4 hour special cheap rate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10 HMacN

I never formally refused I just avoided the phone calls ;)

    Yes I'm on the standard plan 8/9am - 11pm/12am

I would have thought they would have to inform one legally if removed from Deemed Export / FIT

Ironically I received ESB letter in post saying over coming weeks meter will be swapped out

Wondering if anyone else had same issue?

Does anyone have any issues with loads on the enerhia ev smart plan 4 hour window. Charging car, charging 10kw batteries heating water and running dishwasher and washing machine

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,886 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

Not with a Zappi doing its thing. I only have a 3hr window with Pinergy so I charge the house, car, Eddi and do washing, drying, dishes all in that time. Car charges too but the Zappi balances the load.

Correct. Here's an example. Charged during the 3 hours. Hit max at times, other times dipped to balance the load.
