" Craic" as in laugh... but honestly can't see it this year, hopefully contend soon but playing catch-up currently, can't see any cutting edge to make the difference.

I am more optimistic this year. We have a fine squad, a couple of players back after missing out last year and 3 or 4 added from the U20 All Ireland winning team. I expect to be very competitive.

Yeah we were neck and neck with the best in the countr last year, every game in munster was down to a point wasn't it? A few breaks of the ball and we'd have been right there in the last 4

  • Awful pity about Ben O’Connor being stolen by Munster. He would have been an important piece of the puzzle.

Cork do not need to win the league as per previous poster suggestion. Limerick didn’t need to win a league or Munster ahead of the 2018 breakthrough. A look through Limerick’s selections for the league that year shows a gradual convergence towards what eventually became (and by and large still is) our starting XV.

  • Edit; brain fart 😳

Memory playing tricks on you there, Diarmuid Ryan scored the winner from play. In fact the Clare half back line scored 5 points from play in the closing 7 minutes as Cork collapsed.

I have great time for them but how are we still starting both Lehane and Kingston and not trying someone new?

Lehane should only be an impact sub - nothing more than that.

Is the full back for UCC the other night from Cork? Looked a right player - that said maynooth were poor

I agree, he has had his time and isn't the solution going forward.

Why is Horgan, Lehane and Kingston all starting? Horgan is one of the Cork greats but we need to be blooding new players in at this stage. Horgan hasn't many days left in the Cork jersey. He shouldn't be starting in the league imo. Great player but starting him in the league? I don't think that's a great idea imo.

Lehane and Kingston are tried and tested and are not the solution going forward, they always go missing on the big days. Until they convince me otherwise my opinion on them will always be the same. We aren't going to win an All Ireland with those two players starting come championship imo.

I kind of agree and kind of don't with what is said here on Lehane and Kingston. The problem is consistency with them. They play really well sometimes but then go missing others. Horgan has been unbelievably consistent and we haven't had the warm up games with the cancellations. So as manager, you should get your main players game time straight away. Then see how they are going and filter in the new players off the bench. We still have Carey starting in midfield and Hayes up top.

I think we have targeted the league this year just from comments Pat Ryan has said and things I have heard. Of course I have heard the "they are flying it in training" cliche as well so it could be all bollox!

Also remember, these players pushed limerick all the way and only beaten by a point. When you add in the new players from U20 and Coleman, Connolly being back, I think we are in a very good place. Robbie O'Flynn was injured for a bit as well. Its obviously not as easy as GAA maths but if you think about it, I would like to think all of them missing might have got a couple of points to help win us those tight games!

From what i remember we came back well in that Clare game, only to be pipped at the post at the end. Certainly with the exception of Limerick we have no reason to fear anyone, and we did nearly end Limericks season last year.

Sometimes it's harder to get off a Cork team than get on it! Lehane is a great lad and he tries his best etc, but jesus he's had about ten years to step up to the plate at this stage. Do we need to give him another ten years? I hate singling a player out like this, but Limerick or Kilkenny would have got rid ages ago.

It's not even about getting rid of them. They are often the form players in the county championships so I have no real issue with them on the panel it's just that playing both together doesn't work when the game can so often pass by both of them

Lehane looked a real prospect when he first came on the scene. It's a shame he never really kicked on from there.

I agree. I think Ryan needs to be ruthless. Lehane has gone missing many a time when he was needed. Never performed to his potential when Cork needed him to do so. Don't like singling him out but you can't expect different results by trying the same players time and time again. They won't do that in Limerick or Kilkenny. You don't perform in those teams then you are shifted out asap. We won't be winning All Irelands with Lehane, Kingston, D Cahalane involved. Said this time and time again. Too many ghosts from past Cork unsuccessful teams still involved. Just doesnt work. The only exception is Horgan and he's just one of the best Hurlers ever who seems to be top class every season.

He was talked about as one of the greatest emerging talents at the time. He had some unbelievable skill and touches but as years went on he just didn't have it when the pressure came on.

Cork getting a right going over by Clare at the moment. ,

How saunderson isn’t our keeper this year is beyond me, the amount of times this goalkeeper pucks the ball to the opposition year after year is absurd

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 609 ✭✭✭Corcaigh84

Lots of head high tackles alright. I'll take being level or better going in at HT against that wind.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,015 ✭✭✭Vinnie222

A Lot of that is down to Cork players not winning their own ball .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,766 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Half time and Clare have done all the hurling yet we are only a point down. Feels like we haven't got going at all. A few flashes here and there but we really look like a teams first day out which it is!

Hopefully we grow more into it now with the help of this wind. Clare have done numerous bad tackles so I can see them getting a red unless they tidy it up.

Footballers look to be just about to be beaten by Louth. Not surprised by that result at all

Footballers beaten by 2, 2-9 to 0-13. What do we need now to get into the Sam Maguire?
