    For revolut? Doesn't show in my app yet. What are the locations listed out of interest?

    Definitely a trend for airlines. I’ve seen it myself and friends using different airlines have reported the same over the last year or so; Aer Lingus, Ryanair, TUI. They might be the 3 biggest out of Ireland too

    I have had revolut for about 18 months, it is handy, but only use it occasionally.

    Lately, its been asking me for my PPS number and I have just ignored it (was suspicious to be honest)

    someone today has tried to do a transfer to me and its not allowing them, I guess to do with this PPS scenario.

    Is there any issues with adding your PPS number to revolut?

    Yes for revolut. I wouldnt have noticed only for the push notificaion but now if I go to "add money" down in the "others" section deposit cash is an option. I just checked the map for waterford city there is about 10 or 12 places shown, e.g. a Daybreak shop and a carry out off-licence. They seem to be Payzone locations so that must be the link as I dont see e.g. multiple Daybreaks listed as locations.

    I am on premium I don't know if that makes a difference to what options are available.


    Edit: they aren't all payzone actually - the off-license isn't from what I see but most places are.

    Interesting I don't see it mentioned on their site or help sections they specifically say no cash lodgements available but will be nice to have it as an option. Wonder do payzone if that's who it is will take a taste out of the amount lodged.

    No issues, just make sure you do it in the app and not via a random email/text. I think all irish banks do similar now..

    No it's standard practice for banks to request it for tax reporting/compliance purposes.

    No, because here in Switzerland it would be a criminal offence for me do disclose such information. But it is not rocket science to make the leap... Visa, Mastercard etc... sell different processing products with different fees and features, so it is fundamental to the business that we can tell exactly who issued the card, where it was accepted and by whom if you are going to charge the merchants and issuers for the service.

    No issue, go ahead and do it. All banks and financial institutions operating here are obliged to ask for it. It it is required for a number of purposes, e.g. so that they can send an annual return of interest for savings accounts to Revenue, to assist with compliance with Irish tax legislation> it is also required to meet our obligations under FATCA/DAC2-CRS.

    Guys did the issue of sending credit card payments to AIB iban ever get resolved? It was working ok until it changed to Irish iBan

    Not that I know of I last tried in Dec. Let me ask support again. Its nearly a year later since they admitted that the fault is theirs.

    I sold off my crypto currency in the app, it was less than 2€ that I had, charged just 3 cent for the transition.

    Had two attempted card authorisations from eirion??? Going around in circles a bit with chat and they have frozen my card.

    I tested about a month ago and it still wasn't working. I have a complaint in with FSPO about it at present.

    I had a couple of € in crypto, I just cashed it in and it only cost me 3 cent. Last time I tried to sell it off it was costing me more than I had in it.

    Eir is Eir and Ion is their new payments system, so if you recognise payments to Eir, well and good, if not, then someone’s trying to impersonate them by the looks of it.

    Yeah ended up getting my card cancelled only to update details with eir to see they were going by eirion (a previous google search came up with an pharma company) Better safe than sorry I suppose

    Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

    I got a new card from them and now it's letting me transfer money as usual but it won't let me pay for anything it keeps saying I am locked out and I need to reset my number in an atm, I have done this and it still won't let me pay for anything.

    Bunq customer service is utterly useless open an account in 5 mins... yeah right. Attempted to open an account on 25th January and not open yet so I asked them in support and the will try to respond to my ticket in EIGHT days!

    They can get lost and close my account when they open it if they ever bother. Revolut script following customer service are miles ahead I just never knew it could be worse haha.

    I had a similar issue with N26; I signed up with my familiar name which I use on pretty much everything except passport, not on any bank stuff at all. Then N26 took about a week to manually verify me, which I was fine with really given that’s the timeframe for a regular bank. But then they wouldn’t take any proof of address off me, and they didn’t seem to have any way of overriding their AI-based system whereas a regular bank here would have just Ok’d it. Now I have an N26 account in a name nobody would recognise really. I pretty much only use it for the work canteen so it’s not that much of a deal with Christ there’s something to be said for a nice pillar-digital bank middleground.

    N26 when I signed up years ago when they launched I threw in rubbish in for name and this arrived after they verified me on video call with passport. I have since regretted having them fix it later haha.

    Revolut failed me twice today for the first time in years I would say. So Tesco in Stillorgan off-licence told me contactless is down chip and pin only. That's fine used Revolut card (Mastercard debit) chip and pin took a while and didn't go though and nothing in my app about it. Tried once more same result. Used my AIB visa chip and pin and that went through.

    Went and did my shop in the main Tesco where they were announcing the whole time about contactless down. Tried revolut failed again so used AIB visa again.

    Now I didn't try my Revolut Visa debit which I could have done.

    I have done no shopping in Ireland in about 20 years, but here in Switzerland it is not unusually to go shopping and discover one or other of your cards are not working... When I was paying for my groceries on Friday morning at the self service - they had an assistant there tell people, myself included that a particular card was not working today. I would not advise anyone to do all their banking with one single bank.

    That would be exceptionally unusual in Ireland, rare in the extreme. Your advice is largely irrelevant to people in this country.

    Well that's what the AIB Visa card is the revolut backup haha, that then is backed up by a N26 debit card that's backed up by an EBS debit card after that I would have to give up and leave with an abundance of shame 😆

    I completely disagree. Having an alternative payment method is sound advice applicable to everyone in every country.


    As per above happened me today and if I didn't have another method of payment I would have not gotten what I went to the shops for 🤷‍♂️
