is it just me but after a small flurry of M3 advertised under 30k and towards somewhat acceptable prices the past week has seen prices back up around 32-35k for basic 2021 or so models?

still the cars aren't moving on donedeal or carzone, I really don't understand why some dealers are sitting on a car for 4/5/6 months?? This can't be a logically business model for used car sales?

I track the same cars - they haven’t gone back up so much as they never came down.

any m3 that has a sub €29k price is selling, and nothing else is

OMG!!!..... A bargain that isn't a Tesla, who would have thought?!

Looks good for the money and has only done 5000km a year since new. That would be a great runabout for someone looking for something different to a Leaf. I wonder if you could get most of your money back on that in 2 years.

Yes, nice quirky alternative to a leaf but has it’s limits with an 18.8 kWh battery. Nice colour combination on it. No warranty obviously but the battery on these seem to hold up pretty well in terms of degradation.

This one is re listed again states deposit taken now even though the add has been withdrawn for the past 2 weeks. Makes no sense.

Smells like someone not happy with the offer and putting the note out to drive more offers.

18.8kWh was the usable battery capacity when new. Gross 21.6kWh. This compares to the original Leaf having 24kWh gross and usable abourt 22kWh. But the i3 is far more efficient and has had far less battery degradation over about 10 years, so will have a much higher range than a similar age Leaf. I get up to about 150km out of mine under good circumstances

i3 are not cheap and nobody knows how well their depreciation will keep off for the next few years

    Another wounded one 222 ID3..

Says easy repair, I have my doubts though could be expensive.

Hahaha, €16,750? He'd be lucky to get half that. We really need to get this stuff into its own thread. Seems more about a cult / hobby / lifestyle choice to spend a lot of time and money repairing cars rather than bargains. Does well on YouTube though...

There's not enough for its own thread the day will come through...

Had a look at the parts there's plenty available, can find everything noticeable in the pictures including a new roof lining and airbags and I'm at about 4k for parts and that's not including what I can't see, he's miles off on the price though... probably not worth fixing but someone probably will...reg isn't well hidden...

Won't make any difference to the only thing in that wreck that has any value: the battery

Price is way off and it won’t sell at that money but it’s a bolt on repair other than a rear quarter panel and one sill. Salvage price & parts availability will dictate if it’s financially worthwhile. I doubt if he’ll get more than 10K for it.

It needs an air bag kit, possible dash and steering wheel, roof lining, probably new seat belts, it's a wreck only thing do with that is nail up by the front hooves to the garage wall and take yourself off the grid.

Cars like this get repaired every day of the week. The numbers have to add up though to make it worthwhile. Air bag dash kits, curtain bags and exchange seat belts all available from breakers or specialists like Airbag Team. Roof lining and steering wheel will be fine. https://cms.airbagteam.com/

Don't sound like no bargain to me. A lot of hard work, money spent buying parts up front, huge risk. And way overpriced in the first place. Not a bargain, these cars should not be posted in this thread. Maybe take them to YouTube...

If you think that's over priced check out his range rover the chaps in Cloud Cuckoo land...

Fully agree it’s not a bargain as it’s badly priced. Ad indicates the seller thinks a non damaged one is worth €29K….

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,003 ✭✭✭gn3dr

Hopefully they'll drop a bit more so I can buy one. 😁

I've been watching them since December, mainly looking at 94 Ah cars with the range extender. The two 2016 cars I was watching that sold quickly were priced at 12.5k and 11999 ((although this one was a 60Ah). Anything more expensive than that seems to be sitting there so I think the market is deciding.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,055 ✭✭✭✭unkel

Yeah, realistically €12k is the bottom for them. Have a look in the entire EU, they don't sell for less there either. Unless you happen to come upon a bargain. There was a mispriced orange one for sale a while back for €8,500. Silly seller sold himself thousands short 😂

Are you looking at any i3 as long as it is the cheapest you can get, or do you have any minimum spec in mind?

How can 12k be the bottom for a car, any car ? Especially one with a reasonably limited market. I respect you love them and are really in to them. But..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,055 ✭✭✭✭unkel

As usual, don't take my word for it. Have a search in the entire EU and come up with a tested i3 for significantly less than €12k

This one is very cheap at under €11k asking. Wish he didn't hide the reg though.

As regards spec I'm looking for 94Ah plus the REX. I know you don't rate the REX but for me in the sticks it gives peace of mind and a bit of flexibility.

As regards the rest, I'd like Harmon Kardon, the big screen and leather. And for colour that gold'ish colour is least desirable for me followed by white. After that I wouldn't be too bothered although I do think they look good in black.

Having said all that though the spec probably wouldn't sway me from buying a good bargain. Sound system and leather etc isn't worth a few grand difference in price.

They have to keep dropping though, can't beat the laws of depreciation plus the new stuff getting cheaper...

No I understand that. But the Irish market rarely if ever follows EU trends which is my point. How does 12k make sense as the 'bottom' price this car will reach. It's still a car it's still got a small battery. It still has limited appeal.

Too many EVs coming online these days eroding the older pricing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,239 ✭✭✭✭User1998

If a car ‘bottoms out’ at a certain value that suggests the car will never go below that amount, which simply isn’t true for the BMW i3. They may have stagnated at that price but they will of course become cheaper over time like all cars do.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,055 ✭✭✭✭unkel

Looks like I didn't make myself clear. I'm not for a moment suggesting that any i3 will never go below €12k. It just seems a bottom in the current market (and has been for about the year or so I have been very closely following them). But surely give it another few years and you will regularly be able to pick one up for thousands less than that.
