Why you hardly think McGregor will beat him in the next election?

I'm on the verge of a site ban. Please don't rage bait me, I'm easily triggered especially late at night!

In Brussels they think he’s a great guy and isn’t that all that matters?

'Propaganda', 'misinformation', 'disinformation'......that could just as easily be applied to everything coming from the far right on social media about immigration and refugees (and they have been far more active in fact in the last 12 months, flooding the social media platforms with all sorts of stuff).

The far right are so busy and far reaching. An amazing force. Thank god we have every mainstream media outlet, radio station, newspaper etc to keep the plebs properly educated with the correct think

The old playing dumb - "there's no far right in Ireland". They love that one. Do you lads actually think you are fooling anyone other than yourselves? You'll be on ignore list so I won't see the playing-dumb, unfunny dad joke response.

Can you direct me to the post where I lost the argument? Perhaps read the post you replied to first.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,425 ✭✭✭lmao10

lol, another lad not addressing the post and posting the same response. Perhaps read the post and respond to that rather than trying to derail because the argument is lost :)

'MSM' and the government were accused first of ignoring or not properly debating immigration and refugees. Indeed, the Taoiseach has rarely spoken on the issue in the last 12 months (unlike the usual suspects pumping out relentless material to their disciples day after day on their various platforms). He addresses them today in a national newspaper and the claim is that he is lying and feeding misinformation into the sphere with the help of his media pals.

Serioisly you expect people to take the gibberish written in that post seriously?

So pretty the same old nothing to see here, it's all the far right.....

Simple question for you : are Dwyer, Pepper, O'Keeffe and all the others on social media far right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,972 ✭✭✭enricoh

They know the game is up, circling the wagons with the media in tow ain't working n ain't gonna work.

They hope that throwing roderick to the wolves will save them- it won't.

We've 130k refugees here now with family reunification to come. Multinationals Klondike drying up n zero plan of how to pay for this.

Read during the week that if Ireland had six more years with net immigration as high as in 2023 we would have taken in the equivalent of the population of Dublin.

It’s pretty obvious we can’t cope with the current level, reducing it needs to be a very high priority for Government. We already don’t have enough houses or hospital beds. It isn’t racist to point out what’s happening is unsustainable, it’s just acknowledging reality.

This continuous discussion about individual issues in individual towns misses the big point: Ireland is not able to cope with the current level of immigration and it needs to be slowed. If the Government acknowledged that and came up with more initiatives to tackle the situation things might settle. The only recent initiative I’m aware of is the reduction in benefits to newly arriving Ukrainians.

That's like asking are you FF /FG employee???

There idiots but there isn't a great far right conspiracy, people are getting fed up and starting to ask the government questions , it's in the top 3 of people's concerns according to the latest Red C poll ,

But your claim was the majority of the population according to the sunday indo wasn't concerned about immigration,

Seems like misinformation on behalf of the government

Roderick and the Greens wanted the portfolio and instead of direct provision he wanted and broadcast to whoever was listening the promise of own door accommodation. They listened in Algeria, Nigeria, Albania, Georgia and elsewhere and here we are.

He and the entire government deserve all of the opprobrium coming their way and it's going to ramp up as numbers rise.

There’s this view in certain media outlets that the public actually shouldn’t be concerned about immigration. In reality it is a huge issue for a country that is struggling with capacity in many areas, particularly with housing.

Limiting immigration shouldn’t be a left-right issue at all, it’s only common sense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,045 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

I would suggest that the likes of Dwyer and Pepper are cranks and extremists on the fringes but doing a very good job of moving their ideas at least into the mainstream via clever use of social media.

I don't believe this is the burning issue that is being portrayed though - despite all the background noise on social media, it's hard to imagine that most people in the country are discussing refugee centres and 'unvetted males' over their dinner tables. Even in those towns where the refugee centres are planned, you usually only see a few dozen people mounting a protest or blockade.

maybe these three should be allowed on RTE to have their say so that the public can decide for themselves whether they’re far right or not?

If it is not a major issue for the general public then why is it the number one issue at the moment for government and opposition politicians? The last couple of days has been wall to wall coverage from politicians on immigration. I have not seen as much coverage by politicians on a topic since Covid.

I think blaming him is correct.

He decided that to try to abolish DP, and replace it with "own-door accomm within four months of arrival".

He then put this in a message, translated it into 12 languages, and sent it around the world.

In my opinion, this is a near - treasonous act, and it has imposed substantial costs on society.

But all that blame will be completely wasted when he sails off to the sunset in 12 months time. Completely wasted. O'Gorman will be gone, problem will remain. All his actions have been implicitly sanctioned by cabinet. Will you accept FFG blaming Greens forever in retrospect too? I am no fool and I completely blame Leo and Michael. O'Gorman is only a temporary pawn. The fish rots from the head.

By the way, Fine Gael promised to end DP many years ago. They still have it on their website.

Government to end Direct Provision by 2024, but work remains to improve life for residents – Carroll MacNeill - Fine Gael

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Okay, but I think he can be blamed for sending the invites around the world.

Of course he can be blamed. He's had a massive negative effect on the country.

She's like the captain of the Titanic after it was hit by the iceberg.

Bad timing all round for her really, waited years to be elected and then got the main job just as the party is about to be annihilated in the next GE.

You know its bad when Labour are knocking at the SDs door begging to be let in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,425 ✭✭✭lmao10

To answer your question, I don't expect people like you to take the post seriously no. The standard tactic is to not address anything in the post at all, despite me asking you to address the post, you continued on this current trajectory. I expect another insult/derail in the reply.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,203 ✭✭✭✭Galwayguy35

The whole thing needs to crash and burn before any change will happen, its going to be a nightmare but its the only way because next time round it will probably be either SF/FF or FF/FG and a smaller party to make up the numbers and they will continue to ignore the problems associated with the numbers coming here.

Provide a post whereby we should remove all Algerians due to multiple high profile crimes involving Algerians as an example?

If Irish were committing more crimes in Australia I would actually expect this would be a factor in deciding to offer a visa to another Irish person. Rightly or wrongly it will be a factor. Australia also wouldn't let an Irish person who turned up without a passport in.

But then again you can't provide any arguement as to why importing multiple people without passports is a good thing and contributes to the country, and thus will just continue to detail and get into arguement.

This has been a slow moving shitshow for a whole, the wider population are now sick of it, thus 'vulnerable people' BS (oddly it seems ok to generalise this way) isn't washing anymore.

And no, I have no issue with foreigners and immigrants in general so all. I have a large issue with our impotent politicians and civil servants, who rather deal with a problem will continue to throw my, and your hard earned tax at it, while digging a bigger hole, and ensuring infrastructure in this country continues to be neglected.
