Prendergast is developing real well...cant see anything but Leinster pushing on and winning now

Terrible from JGP, but the referee just ignored a clear steal on the deck from Leinster.

Mad he is still on after 73 plus minutes. Terrible pass..

    Great from Russell, squandered sadly.

Think we're going to lose this.

Our pressure game has been excellent and we've been dominant up front, but if you do nothing with the ball you're asking for trouble.

Is there something to be said for a drop goal

Even Trimble can't believe that absolute farce of a call.

I'm back to wondering if he's just a cheat again tbh.

It was either make up a call or rightly give Leinster a penalty under the sticks. You knew what way that was going to go.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

    Awful by Frawley

Nice safe one there from Frank, easy to give Leinster penalties on their own line

Not too upset by the loss. We're a work in progress and it's clear we've a lot of things to improve on in attack and in defence. Nienaber is new in and Goodman has a new role also.

But it's clear that we lack a lot of imagination from our backs in midfield, especially when Ngatai isn't on the pitch. Some of that will be improved when we actually get some continuity at 10 and in selection in general. Been a lot of chopping and changing of partnerships with players coming back from the World Cup and with the Christmas rotations.

    Oh Harry.

We didn't need to go for the most metres possible. Get to the edge of the 22 and work your way from there.

Under my breath I had just muttered "a nice safe touch" in they general direction of Byrne.

    Thats unacceptable stuff.

Well fought, Ulster, well fought. Congrats.

I know JGP makes some daft decisions And conditions are bad and all….but THIS IS no risk SA Neinaber ball.

We going to have to get used to this.

Thats a bad kick to finish with - but a kick in the backside Leinster might need going into the business end of the season

Terrible terrible terrible. 10 man rugby now, has Goodman left for Ireland already.

Frank Murphy had a great game it will be a shame when he retires.

Donal must be still full of the Christmas cheer with that POTM award. Burns had a good game but Big Joe was the best player on the park for large portions of that game.

Sadly I think you're right. We won't win anything with it either.

Game was lost in the third quarter where Leinster kicked dreadfully and couldn't gain any sort of territory.

That is unacceptable from Harry Byrne.

Joe McCarthy best player on the pitch and almost single handedly kept Leinster in it.

Prendergast at 10 in two weeks.

Thought Frawley might take on another long one at the end.

The attack really is brutish and lacking in incision.

Harry Byrne at the end. That's really poor. Just not good enough.

Harry was very poor when he came on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,999 ✭✭✭almostover

I agree but his poor calls benefited both teams. Leinster's 1st try was a stonewall penalty for Ulster. 2 men break away from maul and crash into an ulster player. Easy penalty for obstruction and not given. Overall Murphy isn't a great ref but he didn't affect the result overall.

Harry Byrne made 2 poor kicks at the end. That was super costly. He's fallen behind both Burns and Prendergast after tonight.

Fair play to Ulster. Good win for them.

Frank Murphy is not up to standard as a ref. Just awful across the board.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,370 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Billy Burns points to Leinster's lack of consistency in selection as an area Ulster could exploit especially with the kicking game.

Bit of a slap in the face for our coaching set up. We're not playing well enough, and maybe not coached well enough, to rotate en masse as we used to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,886 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

Byrne didn't lose us that game for all that was a big mistake

    Our defensive system did.

Harry B has much to learn. Criminal at end. In saying that, Ulster were the better team over the 81 mins, they managed the conditions better and had more variety to their game. No complaints.
