For the many illegal IPTV providers that are available. On the most part, what is the experience with picture quality and reliability of the stream (buffering) ? with or without using a VPN and having adequate broadband speed. Do they all relay their streams in 1080p, 720p or both? Any compression artifacts? Has anyone changed providers because of these problems?

most providers have a similar EPG to the likes of sky/virgin and offer usually a UHD/HD & SD versions of the main sports and movie channels. If you have good fibre broadband the UHD channels are as good as anything you’ll get with a dish and receiver.

Moment of silence for anyone using a VPN for IPTV in Ireland 😆

Always been reliable for me. All main channels have SD, HD and FHD versions. Some sports channels have 50fps and UHD options. Movies have UHD versions available. With the same provider now nearly 2 years.

I have 90mb fixed line broadband. No problems with others using Netflix etc. The only time it buffers is when the PS5 is downloading something. Its a network hog. My router cant limit download speed by device mac address. If anyone knows a work around Im all ears.

anyone recommend a good IPTV provider ?

I understand these types of questions may have been asked before but does using a VPN actually make any difference when streaming from an illegal IPTV provider?

Are ISP's aware and throttling that particular connection?

Unfortunately that sort of question cannot be answered around here.

From what I understand if you have your broadband through the likes of Sky they can pick up on the iptv use and can throttle your speeds. If that happens you'll need the VPN as a workaround.

Happened me, started getting alot of buffering, ran a speedtest and was getting 0.5 meg, at the same time on my phone the speed was 350 meg. After a few days I contacted my guy and he explained that's what was happening. Once I ran the VPN it improved immediately.

If you don't think Sky can see what goes through their network and identify IPTV traffic your deluding yourself. There is reason you have to use Sky DNS servers.

I know for certain Sky are throttling one IPTV provider.

So why wouldn't they just cut access completely?

I’ve never seen an IPTV provider with what I would consider to be satisfactory stream quality. Most fall down with compression artifacts and poor frame rates.

If they source the picture from an official stream, or from any pay TV provider - it’s going to be encoded twice (at least) before it reaches the viewer.

Because it's a game of whack a mole. They could block one site and they would register a new one or use a different ip.

They could also be trying to track down the source. I mean from what I'd hear it's pretty much unusable when they are throttling it.

Anyone wanting to do this properly needs to be buying a formuler box ( latest version z11)they have developed their own app for running IPTV you can record fast forward/ rewind pause live tv. You can set up your own favorites, hide all the channels/ categories you dont use it's as good as sky imo. Buying a loaded box is a rookie mistake most are rubbish. Been using them for years with a decent service. The box is pricey but pays for itself in the long run

I know someone who pays 30£ per year..... Or so I heard😁 and that includes 4k stains which look nice. 😁

Im use tivimate app for a few yrs for my iptv, great little app.

I've got the z11 pro max, a little pricey but I have it a year now without any issues.

The MyTVOnline3 IPTV app is amazing. I used a few different apps on previous android boxes and was happy with most but I can't get over how much better and fluid the formuler app is. I don't do a lot of recording but I know it's there if needed. It flicks thru channels like no app I've used before.

I'd love an official Netflix app on it as the side loaded one isnt great but I have one on my TV so it's not a big deal.

Had that too it's good but the formulera app is better imo

A friend in the tech sector tells me they can take down whole servers but its very time consuming and extremely expensive. So are you going to spend all of this money targeting people, a lot of whom, would never pay for the legal service anyway.

I have seen it happen particularly before big pay per view boxing / MMA fights.

Ive a USB flash drive plugged in to the box that does the trick

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,411 ✭✭✭.red.

You can set it to record on the box itself or on a USB stick or I think, an SD card.

You can only record on the channel that's playing but if you pay for a second subscription you can record one channel and watch another. I haven't done this so can't say how well it works but from looking online it seems to be good.

I generally don't record anything as the catch up function works so well.

Regarding taking servers and streams down its just not practical. Its whack a mole.

Any legit iptv provider will have multiple servers available for the same event. My guy does. He's the best.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,525 ✭✭✭Nigzcurran

Would love to try out the catch up option, can't find one anywhere

I and many friends had to use a VPN a few years back when Eir blocked the connection to the IPTV (no issues when I connected to other ISP's). It was an issue for maybe 2 or 3 months until provider change their IP I persume. Haven't heard of any issues since which need a VPN on when watching IPTV in Ireland.

I've bought a few android boxes off this lad and delivery was always very quick. I'd an issue setting one up(through a fault of my own, not the box) and he was very helpful thru WhatsApp.

He just sells the boxes tho which are completely legit, not IPTV, you'll have to search that up yourself.

On a side note, I dislike the term dodgy box, nothing dodgy or illegal about them. You can obviously put some dodgy apps or content on them if you so wish.
