Will his new radio show have a phone-in piece, or interaction with the public? Would be better to just get people on air asking him when he's going to pay back the money he owes.

All my Christmasses would come at once if "Trevor from Birmingham" called into his show and after some #bantz with Tubs, asked him when he plans to return the €150k he took!

nkm doing a good job of keeping Tubs in the news. He attended a black tie event in London, wearing a green tie.

but he did also squeeze in a quality point

It is the kind of image that almost demands a caption competition. :)

"Double Oh Tubridy -- licenced to bore."

The publicity fluffers might want to give the impression that Tubridy is doing well in London but he seems to be just seat filler material rather than an A-lister.

Not exactly a black tie event when you go wearing business dress. Still, it's a start for him. He's at the 'cleaning tables' stage of his McDonalds career. Next move is to try to get up to the 'flipping burgers' stage.

Probably showing my age, but I only recognise one name on the list of actors in that programe.

No offence to Ms Garrihy and her fiancé ... but ...

Why is the cost of this ring important to this story and why is the shop where they bought the ring?

The pair posed outside the doors of the store and sharing their delight, they thanked the shop for helping them find the perfect sparkler. Appleby Jewellers returned the sentiment, sending the in-love couple best wishes on their engagement.

One wonders if RTÉ DG will have to oversee the wedding plans!

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

This engagement announcement has been brought to you by Appleby jewelers, how romantic not.

    I am surprised she didn't say: -

"I was so surprised when we arrived, I didn't know my bubo knew where I shopped for all my jewelry and accessory needs, and then the fab staff who I know by name help show us to the exact price range we were in, after all I only just got my doer upper house finished... you know the front door was by Porta, and the house refurb by ARO Architects and the garden brought to me by The Gardener.ie, oh and what am I wearing well... H&M have a new season ..."

Unfortunately, this is life now...we're going to be told constantly how great he's doing, and how he doesn't need us anymore (unless you have the Q102 app or live within Q102's transmitter range.) It's like the drunk woman on the dancefloor hours after her boyfriends breaks up with her, belting out the "I don't need you anymore" part of Cher's "Believe."

So romantic. I imagine either Doireann or her boyfriend spent an afternoon on the phone last week to various Dublin jewellers, saying "If we buy the ring from you and post about it constantly on social media, how much will you knock off? It'll be great exposure for your business." Appleby's were stupid enough to fall for it. Thankfully, it seems fewer businesses are now accepting "exposure" as payment.

The problem you have in RTE is it's a run like a bog standard Irish state body with all the ineptitude, waste and cronyism that that entails, but with the glitzy caché of a big media operation which means they think they need to be renumerated in a corresponding fashion

That's it a great description. At least those working in bog standard state companies know their limitations and how lucky they are. In RTE they are full of delusions ,you have the likes of Sharon ni bheolain and clare Byrne thinking they are celebrity newsreaders on sky news when they are just convent girls that got good grades in school and got lucky

What celebrity news readers does Sky News have?

just convent girls that got good grades in school and got lucky

    Da Fuq?

I think he means to say that many of the people in RTÉ aren't all that good and are potentially over paid and largely lucky.

What did Sharon do that shows she thinks she is a celebrity newsreader on Sky? Is there such a thing anyway? That's a genuinely horrible, sexist comment and I hope the proper authorities deal with it appropriately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,540 ✭✭✭RoTelly

    Oi!

He did also mention Clare Byrne.

I'd argue that Sharon often trips over her words and has to correct herself. That's just an observation.

Clare I tend to think like a lot of interviewers is simply a newsreader, I find many news / Current Affairs presenters to be like this, simply reading off a script. I think this could be more to do with producers than the presenter.

A spokesman for RTE confirmed that the station received "three phone calls and one email with feedback. No complaints."

The spokesman continue "funny but on the 3 phone calls one wished to say that this is some of the best news they've heard, the second called wish to thank turbriby for getting rid of the Sunday night episode, while the 3rd call was joyous in their response they said they couldn't stop smiling with the news and the email with feedback was suggesting we cut it to 2 nights a week with a preference that we axe the show, so we've had no complaints about the show whatsoever. Everyone seem to think axing one night is good but if we could go further even better, we in RTÉ think this is a complete win and shows the audience are with us with our new direction."

I thought the rte 'stars' were told recently to stop plugging shops, car brands, hair transplant etc?

Seems some just can't help themselves.

We should blame the rags that publish this "news" too. Who reads evoke? Presume the same contingent that follow RT on Instagram God help us.

I thought KB would have had something to say about this news story. It's undermining his authority when he tells them to stop plugging stuff, and they openly do it again, when it's obvious the couple got a discount or a free ring for getting this company name mentioned.

You're either the boss or not. I'd put out a line now to say any more of it and there will be disciplinary action taken.

One way of getting around the idea of sponsorship etc, would be at your grandmother's funeral.

    Stella Starman RTÉ's newest Star

Stella's Grandmother dies surrounded by friends and family. Starman's grandmother was very happy in Oaklands retirement home which cost 10k a year, it over looks stunning views of Howth head. Starman took to instagram clad in a black with a black vail from ValleyVails the number 1 vail shop. Recently Starman was seen out walking her grandmother in a Wheelchair by Wheellies, along with her dog Putch, who'd just had a make over with MidMadraWax dog specialist. Starman was massively close to her grandmother and a recent photo saw them dining out in the exclusive DinnerDine restaurant, meanwhile Starman will be seen at the wake handing out mugs of tea and sandwiches, from I am A mug Cafe, which recently opened its 4th coffee shop in Carrigstown.

Kevo and the leadership team could only really send their best wishes!

Unless it is in their contract specifically prohibiting this (and I doubt it is) KB cannot control what people do outside of their work.

I'd imaging the only way an rte name would be punished is if they plugged something on air for personal gain.

I think Dathai O'Shea got told off for plugging his plugs on Oliver Callans show.

It's undermining his authority when he tells them to stop plugging stuff,

Unless they are hocking something grossly offensive like Nazi memorial, KB has no authority.

    How would he?
