I was surprised at their olympia price, 70 cuid standing was outrageous.

But would definitely recommend trying to catch their new show....some fantastic little covers in there as well which make the crowd go mental inbetween songs. Royal Albert hall was were they played one of them 1st (won't name song because the element of surprise when you 1st hear it is fantastic)...and the place went nuts. Brilliant experience

Kasabian not a band ive ever been mad on but they have some good singles. While I'd not be pushed to go see them, have to say they were excellent when the played Seapoint in Galway a couple of months before they headlined Glasto. Was bizarre but fun. Liam G I could definitely do without

I totally agree. Seen them at King John's Castle and was pleasantly surprised. Went with a friend not being a big fan but was actually a super fun gig and would definitely go again if they ever came back to Limerick. But at the same time, their popularity is nowhere near their peak, so surely can't be headliner or sub headliner (considering they're playing King Johns Castle sized venues).

Like Kasabian but have only seen them live once and thought it was good. Haven't seen much of their live stuff since Serge took over but not as good for me but if no clashes would go see them some cracking tunes.

Will we get an announcement next week?

would Liam not be as likely to do that show at Kilmainham himself?

would be delighted to have the Definitely Maybe set at EP.

Squeeze doing a 50th anniversary tour next year. Long past time they dropped into Stradbally. See also SLF.

Doubt it, he was at kilmainham in 2022, noel was there last year.

Hes headlining R/L which is FESTIVAL REPUBLIC so you'd imagine he'll be at EP

Would have loved a weekend in Belfast, was slightly gutted it was the weekend of EP although I think it always it

LCD Soundsystem @ APE, 23 August.

Pixies, Jai Paul, Nation of Language and Floating Points also in the mix.

I mean, it's the right time of year lads.

    On the gallagher topic,

Was hoping a noel 3arena date might be announced to align with the UK arena tour starting this month, although I knew kilmainham gig in Aug just gone would make this unlikely.

I was blown away with his kilmainham performance.

Loved his 1st 2 solo albums and the gigs were decent but I thought the band was ****. That drummer with the bowler hat is surely one of the worst I've ever seen.

I was to quick to slag noel on the 3rd album and with the success of LG in the same year taking away from him a bit.

I loved the NG 3arena gig for the 3rd album with Chris sharrock and gem back but the few years after (malahide and st.annes) were just boring and bland.

However I really enjoyed the new album and think he nailed the setlist, new songs went down well at start compared to all that holy mountain scissors stuff. His 1st solo classics and dead in the water (one of his best ever songs IMO) then finishing with oasis

The whole band was on point and just began to remember how good he is.

Think I'm going to do a last minute trip over for one of the UK dates in a few weeks

Is there actually the demand for the Gobbier lesser spotted Gallagher for 5 shows on the island next summer? There's Thomand, 2 x Point and Belfast, throwing him into EP too seems like massive overkill.

He will have a massive audience if he plays. Singalong set for the masses.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,875 ✭✭✭endainoz

It's still definitely overkill though. I can't remember an EP headliner that played loads of big shows in the same summer. I do reckon all of his gigs will sell quite well all the same. The thomond park one will surely be a quick sell out. Massive gig for Limerick, good for them.

I'm a huge oasis fan and even I was surprised at how quick the DM arena tour sold out......just under 250,000 tickets when you add up all the venues. People will be practically giving away tickets closer to the time like the knebworth gigs in 2022 which sold out after going on sale.

But the numbers are impressive and demand defiantly there........its exciting times for younger fans who never saw the real deal that mainly leads to it.

I think you mean definitely rather than defiantly.

I'd wonder how may of EPs audience are actually listening to a 30 year old album though.

But they're all MCD / Livenation promoted yes? Surely even they must understand the concept of overkill?

At the same time EP is sold out so don't they don't have to worry about oversaturated acts. I agree not a big fan of having bands that have already played big summer shows the same summer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,093 ✭✭✭Fanirish

His 3 arena shows sold out instantly.

    Limerick will do the business.

if there was a cork show EP would be overkill but nothing announced yet for cork

Do we reckon there will be actual announcements on some headliners this week? A lot of the big festivals have been releasing theirs in the last few weeks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,093 ✭✭✭Fanirish

The website hasn’t been updated and that’s always a sign that announcement coming

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,098 ✭✭✭boomdocker

Agree, saw them last year - Serge is a great front man and they put on a great live show. You'd be surprised the amount of bangers they have that are great live

Surely it's just a sign that nothing has changed on the website?

John Francis Flynn worth catching? He’s here at the Róísín Dubh tomorrow and I’m liking what I’ve heard by him, similar to Seamus Fogarty and other alternative folk artists I like. Anyone seen him play? And does he usually have a band along?

I really enjoyed him at End of the Road. I'd say he'd be great in a more intimate setting like the Róisín. Great voice, lovely interpretations. Sparse enough set up over there, trying to remember exactly what he had, definitely a lad on fiddle, did he have more than the 2 of them? I can't remember. Old age is a terrible thing. Anyway, go for it Seath, you won't regret it.
