Rear-end loader

One problem with those rear mounted loaders is the weight of the bale is a long way back from the tractor when you start raising it, but the New Holland should cope easily with it. A lot of those loaders mightn't be designed for the weight of a modern bale, so you were probably better looking for a more recent one, that was designed for use with a shear grab. They appear on Done Deal often enough.

Had a rear end Difco silage grab here. Solid well made machine but not the easiest to put on or take off, especially on a Sunday evening I found. Sold it a few yrs back. They would be ok for hay or straw but not big silage bales and def not big wet silage bales.

@Reggie. what about a forklift mast or one of the old ones with a shear grab. Could be done cheap with a tine graph in them. It would keep the weight close then the back of the tractor

Would be def better than the mast one but one would want good weight on the front. No doubt front loader is the best option. That's why you'll find these, in their various guises, lying idle in a lot of yards.

Reggie, get short chains and shackles and use them to tie the two halves of the round feeder together. Open chains, lift one half around to the back of the other and drop bale. I do it here, only takes 5 mins.

I can't see why a cable type joystick won't work. Just find room for it in the cab.
