What's that got to do with anything? I did not ask you what you drive. I have seen many on Audi and VWs lowered to whitin a millimeter of there life's driving with that silly whoosh noise. They look utterly stupid on public roads and silky too.

As zi said do that is not to say all Audi drivers are like that. I know someone who has one and drives it very slowly.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

And here's thinking there was some breaking f1 news happening with all the replies here

That's a whole sub culture within a certain age group and its abit unfair to associate the brand with these people when all of them would be driving considerably aged cars - hardly Audi target market.

Interestingly, the boy racer types moved from honda to vw as insurers just wouldn't look at covering them as young driver in Honda meant boyracer.

It became so much easier to get insured on a passat that they moved over and went about modifying them. Should soon be moving on to next respectable car type to fool insurers for another while untils claims rise again.

I have seen a few in Renault Fluences lol. They do not last long if you do not treat them nicely. Hopefully they don't last long there.

You and me both, bastards had my hopes up for something.

Audi and drug dealers...get a mass said for yourselves lads.

Think there’s only a handful of drivers who would have a chance of taking a decent amount of points off Verstappen over a season, bit less potentially beating him over a season.

Think the problem of even a Hamilton or Alonso going for a season would be the head start Verstappen would have. Think beating Verstappen might be a multi season job for an exceptional driver.

I’d love to see Norris or Piastri there but the contract situations wouldn’t line up for 2025. Maybe Norris would upset the team dynamic a little and only be forced if the car wasn’t dominant. Someone like Piastri with a perceived high ceiling going in early in his development and growing with a top car would be a great match but contracted to end of 2026.

Yep same. Haven’t been on boards in a few days and saw 20+ new posts in here. Disappointed. 😂

Monster moving to mclaren makes sense for their marketing. Mclaren has good social media and the drivers are younger and probably match their market better. Lewis keeps his personal sponsorship.

Makes sense for Monster. I've grown up with Lewis so it's difficult to see him as old, but he's definitely not their target market anymore, but he's still one of the biggest names and kultiple world champion so keeps the deal on legacy grounds. Mercedes slide from the top spot is evident though.

It felt inevitable by the end of the season that he'd be kept on. Seems like a nice guy, he'll need to really so wonders next year to have a chance at a year 3.

Also I think they mentioned on the race that this means it's possibly the first time ever the line up for last race of season is the same as the line up for first race of following season.

No surprise in fairness but he really isn't good enough. Another year for him won't make a difference I'd say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,972 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

Yup, first time ever that the whole grid will be the same for 2 years.

Let's see how long that lasts...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,042 ✭✭✭✭El_Duderino 09

Makes you wonder what their strategy is. Next year seems like a waste for him and them if they're going to get very little from him and then drop him and start again with a new pay driver.

Presumably they just want one decent driver and one pay driver in the cars. Must be depressing when they think about it.

I guess Williams are confident of finishing ahead of haas/sauber/AT next year if they're keeping on Sergeant, bridge to P6 is obviously far too big.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,413 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Who's the alternative option though? Sticking with him for 2 years is good from a strategy point of view too for the Williams young driver programme - means they can show they stand by drivers unlike red bull.

Well, The team formerly known as Alpha Tauri did a swap mid season.

    This too shall pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,558 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

It is a shame Lawson or Drugovich doesn't have a seat, Sargeant didn't do enough to keep his seat but Williams must see something in him. Maybe Williams have enough faith in Albon to keep them off the bottom of the constructors but when AT made the upgrades the car looked fairly decent with a pretty solid driver line up. You'd wonder what Haas at doing, they are only there to make up the numbers it seems

Norris, Russell, Leclerc etc. The young pretenders. They're all such anodyne personalities. Boring bas---ds. At least Max, out of the car, comes across as engaging and reasonably interesting.

Separately, why is Alonso sticking around? Does he seriously believe he can win another title before age finally catches up on him ? AM are not going to improve significantly beyond their current level and could be usurped by Alpine next season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,413 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

I'd argue to opposite. Max comes across as obsessed and driven to the point of never letting his true personality out. Lando and Charles seem like good craic. George Russell is a massive Tory, so I'll allow that.

Re. Alonso, I think he feels he has the skills to put together a proper challenge if he ends up in the right car. While the current AM might not be that challenger, Stroll is obviously throwing all of the money he can at getting there. And Alonso doesn't look like age has had any impact on his ability yet, so keep driving I say. He deserves at least 1 more win at least.

I see Nico Rosbergs Extreme E team won the Constructors in that and I think the drivers too. Delighted for them. It was a miracle that the car made it home in the final with a broken front wheel. One car ended up a lap behind and the other two crashed out spectacularly.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Won't we have two new team names next season? Ruins the continuity of every driver driving for the same team next year for the pedantic pats!

Yep, alfa Romeo becomes Sauber. Alpha Tauri becomes something truly stupid that hasn't been announced yet.
