Smart Meter P1 Port

Hi, which meter did you get installed? Sagemcom XS211 (CS 50001)?

I got one installed today, I'm not sure if the P1 Port is enabled by default.

It seems these are the same or at least similar to the meters which are used in Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg.

I am going to hold off on buying a SlimmeLezer+ or HomeWizard P1 Meter for the time being and instead check if I can read any data from the P1 Port using a Raspberry Pi, or even a laptop. If I don't get anything from the P1 Port, I will ask ESB Networks to enable it and see what they say.

These meters usually output data in a format that complies with the DSMR (Dutch Smart Meter Requirements) standard, but I'm not sure if Irish ones do, and if they do, I'm not sure which version.

Any joy with this?

Just had my smart meter installed today, same model.

Just to give some feedback on an alternate way of doing this. I'm really happy with my Shelly EM. It's easy to wire in yourself (as long as you shut off the main breaker and are very careful), and it works flawlessly with Home Assistant.

I gave up on trying meter based options.

yeah i have a friend in holland. Allthere P1 ports are open.

A poster above mentioned "ESB won't activate it. They say it is the phase of the smart metre roll out"

As in never going to happen or we will open it up in the next phase?

Any use ?

To be honest, this should again be something the regulator focuses on. My brother over.in the UK can see instantaneous readings from his smart.meter with a small screen inside the house. He can genuinely use the smart meter.to monitor his usage, not some crappy 30minute.readings.from a web page.like we are.given

So looked into it once I got home.

My meter, a Kamstrup Omnipower Single Phase ST supports:

IE 62053-21 and 23

And the only thin I've found so far for it is:

Anyone know when the next phase that will unlock the P1 port be?

Getting my smart meter installed on Monday next. Is it fairly useless from a HA perspective until P1 port is opened. Is there any kind of API that can be plugged into?

can the frient catch the wifi signal fine to connect to HA?

wonder where should be the router placed for frient placed outside the house?

I had sent them an email last week as well and got this as a reply:

This is not available at present but is in the planning stage so will be available to all customers with smart meters in due course.  We do not have an exact date yet.

Won't hold my breath for now.

If they are serious about changing behaviour they should open the port straight away and offer a P1 dongle with small display you can put in your kitchen at a very low cost.

Was looking into this recently and got a reply from ESB networks and thought I'd update this old thread, P1 port access should be coming at the end of 2025. It's slow progress!

Currently the P1 port on all the smart meters is disabled and will not send any information if the customer plugs in a device. Port 1 enablement is planned for Q4 2025.  In 2017 the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) agreed a phased approach to the smart metering roll out and ESB Networks will have an In-Home Channel available by the end of 2024 - in line with the original plan.

The solution is envisaged to facilitate connection by a wide range of apps and devices that customers can purchase or that may be provided by their electricity supplier.

We are engaging with our meter manufacturers and working through the details of enabling the P1 port.  Please bear with us over the next few months as this work is conducted and look for updates on our website towards the end of this year.

Any links to the device? I would like to see how it was connected to the meter.
