Smart Meter P1 Port

I had a smart meter installed recently and was wondering if anyone knows if the P1 port is disabled remotely by ESB Network? I read on other threads that they are locked with tags, that is not the case with mine where it just has a pastic cover? I was thinking of investing in a SlimmeLezer+, which would integrate if with home assistant (if it works).

Hi, which meter did you get installed? Sagemcom XS211 (CS 50001)?

I got one installed today, I'm not sure if the P1 Port is enabled by default.

It seems these are the same or at least similar to the meters which are used in Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg.

I am going to hold off on buying a SlimmeLezer+ or HomeWizard P1 Meter for the time being and instead check if I can read any data from the P1 Port using a Raspberry Pi, or even a laptop. If I don't get anything from the P1 Port, I will ask ESB Networks to enable it and see what they say.

These meters usually output data in a format that complies with the DSMR (Dutch Smart Meter Requirements) standard, but I'm not sure if Irish ones do, and if they do, I'm not sure which version.

Hi, I got one and tried it on the port but it doesn't work. I've had no luck with either ESB networks or Energia trying to get it enabled. Yes, that is the same meter I have.

No update, ESB won't activate it. They say it is the phase of the smart metre roll out.

Just to give some feedback on an alternate way of doing this. I'm really happy with my Shelly EM. It's easy to wire in yourself (as long as you shut off the main breaker and are very careful), and it works flawlessly with Home Assistant.

I gave up on trying meter based options.

To be honest, this should again be something the regulator focuses on. My brother over.in the UK can see instantaneous readings from his smart.meter with a small screen inside the house. He can genuinely use the smart meter.to monitor his usage, not some crappy 30minute.readings.from a web page.like we are.given

If they are serious about changing behaviour they should open the port straight away and offer a P1 dongle with small display you can put in your kitchen at a very low cost.

It's moot until ESB open up the P1 port but Frient now have a P1 version of their Zigbee Electricity Meter Interface 2.

The version reading the optical pulses has been very reliable for me so far so not sure what advantages the P1 version offers other than not needing batteries (as I understand P1 provides the power for it).

Was looking into this recently and got a reply from ESB networks and thought I'd update this old thread, P1 port access should be coming at the end of 2025. It's slow progress!

Currently the P1 port on all the smart meters is disabled and will not send any information if the customer plugs in a device. Port 1 enablement is planned for Q4 2025. In 2017 the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) agreed a phased approach to the smart metering roll out and ESB Networks will have an In-Home Channel available by the end of 2024 - in line with the original plan.

The solution is envisaged to facilitate connection by a wide range of apps and devices that customers can purchase or that may be provided by their electricity supplier.
We are engaging with our meter manufacturers and working through the details of enabling the P1 port. Please bear with us over the next few months as this work is conducted and look for updates on our website towards the end of this year.

In the early trials they offered a little tabletop display offering real time info etc and no one used it so it was dropped.
so basically they trulls what you wanted and no one uses it
