The proposed two state solution is actually giving cover for Israel to implement an apartheid regime. They have no interest in a Palestinian state as they covet the entire territory. With the growth of settlements, this solution is disappearing as a viable outcome. Israel definitely does not want a one state solution where Palestinians have equal rights. That leaves ethnic cleansing

Not my politicians

Israel is playing into Hamas's hands by continuing the slaughter of innocents. Daily, they are losing sympathy, allies and resources. Within Israel, the government is increasingly shown to be a hateful, divisive, reactionary corruption at odds with most right-thinking and peaceful Israelis. Their armed forces are now fighting on 3 fronts and are taking losses all the time. When you think back to October 6th, it cost Israel nothing to subjugate the Palestinians; their cosy delusion is now in tatters and Hamas are playing them like a fiddle. The justifications for their actions in Gaza have become ever more risible and transparently false as the days go by. Israel might well win this war, but they will have lost much more besides.

Hamas know the value of Terror. The October 7th attack was designed to provoke this outrageous reaction and as some have pointed out, it echoes the Algerian War which lead to the fall of De Gaulle's Fourth Republic. Israel need to call an immediate ceasefire or else they will have no option but to double down on their campaign of ethnic cleansing.

In no way do I support Hamas's actions or their disregard of human life by the way.

Oh my, oh My!! now I wonder why Israel would want to control what goes into (and by definition, what comes out of ) Gaza???; By any possible chance, would a crowd called Hamas ( and others??) be trying to smuggle in weapons that could be used against them? Oh, I forgot Hamas have managed to smuggle them in on an industrial scale, no longer any need for border controls and ugly "Prison" accusations.

But in any case, now that Israel is fighting to control Gaza 100%, if it succeeds, then that will solve the border issues. Israel will control it, all of it, including the Rafah crossing with Egypt.

There would be no issue with Israel inspecting trucks for arms and weapons etc.... imagine it like sanctions placed upon them.

However, Israel dictate everything on the border. Israel choose how much food to allow in (nearly half of what's actually needed since 2007) now unless they are afraid of Hamas making potato launchers or booby traps with banana skins, there's no justification for it. Can baby formula be repurposed into rocket fuel? I'm sure the IDF would argue it can to justify it.
