Now would be a good time to suggest Russia takes in the Palestinians as refugees.

Play Putin at his own game.

Sounds like a few thousand men in Dagestan are about to get a free trip to Avdiivka (terms and conditions apply - free trip does not include a return journey, uniforms, equipment and weapons must be paid for).

The chin strap beard brigade seem to optimise the image of a knuckle dragging anti everything scumbag these days like you see in the dagestan video. Apes around here are copying those mutton heads in UFC MMA etc thinking their hard men, fcukin clowns.

Or maybe not....this has all the hallmarks of a Putin rent a crowd scheme, organized by the local branch of the FSB. Planes land and depart from Makhachkala all the time, just normal airport traffic, but suddenly there's hundreds or even thousands there waiting for a plane? Thats not happenstance, Mr Bond, that's enemy action......

Doesn't this make Putin look like a fool when there's a "riot" down in the provinces, and he has to blame Ukraine and ye olde Anglo-Saxons for it? If his enemies are able to organise a riot (which they didn't) inside Russia, that's pretty embarassing for the authorities. So why would he bother with it in the first place?

IMHO Putin has dug himself into yet another geopolitical hole with his support of Iran/Hamas Islamists, tho’ he should have known better considering his Chechnya experience

Looking like an incompetent fool (yet again) is probably the least worst option for him now. The propaganda wing can at least try to spin this narrative and Russian thought police can control it and get more vodka infused meatbags for the trenches

The alternate is admitting to the world that

    * The Nazis all along were in Russia and there is a deep anti semitic culture and history

    * These Islamist Nazis clearly want to kill Jews for being Jewish despite Putin’s claims that Russia is a harmonious multicultural empire

Hence ending up higher on the Israeli shitlist of 2023

there seems to be a certain Schrodinger's Putin at play, at the same time he knows and directs all but is simultaneously the most incompetent leader of all time. I hadnt heard it was an "Anglo-Saxon" but that it was anti Russian accounts on Telegram out of Kyiv and the Russian authorities didnt pick up on it or counter it in time, so not exactly all knowing Putin

It's the continuation of Putin's Kremlin's ability to call on the mob to wreak havoc wherever. Inside or outside Russia.

This was a warning to Israel to not pursue its warning that when Putin's boys Hamas are dealt with that the full force of the Israeli military will concentrate on helping Ukraine destroy and rid the Russian military in Ukraine.

It's a terrorist warning that the Kremlin can call on the official denialability terrorist mob to attack and kill Israeli citizens on Russian soil or perhaps even outside whenever it chooses.

this seems like the perfect Schrodinger's Putin post lol

The west took way too long dithering about what weaponry they would send Ukraine to help with their planned Spring Offensive.

Can we send tanks ? if we do, will it upset Putin too much and escalate the war ?

Who'll send the tanks first ? the US, Germany the UK ..who ?

Can we send ATACMS ? Yes \ No \ maybe so ? - If we do, will their deployment upset Putin and escalate the war ?

Can we send F16s - If so, will their deployment upset Putin and cause an escalation ?

Who'll send their F16s first ? - You do it, no YOU send them first...

Do we have enough 155mm shells - Yes \ No \ Maybe so ?

If we dont, can we all get together and make a plan on how the EU \ US can manufacture more ?

Can we send cluster ammunitions - NO theyre inhumane...but the US has millions of them - Oh Ok so lets send them - BUT - if we send them, will that upset Putin and cause an escalation ?

Whilst all the above was playing out, Russia had ample time to dig deep - literally - to dig trenches, lay 1000s of mines, lay dragons teeth to stop tanks and entrench gun placements.

There is not only one line of defense either, there are up to 3 with each being miles long.

The Ukrainians, if they had received the weapons they requested late last winter to prepare for their spring offensive would have gained way more territory than they have thus far in their current offensive.

Their lack of momentum lies solely with the wests dicking around on what they could and could not send to Ukraine without perhaps upsetting the poison dwarf in the kremlin.

To the Ukrainians credit though, even with the delays in weapons deliveries, they still managed to break through in places and reclaim territory that is rightfully theirs, these endeavors were way more costly in both men and machine than they should have been, again, if the west hadnt dithered like they did.

Threatening Israel is probably an even dumber act than starting the Three Day War

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,854 ✭✭✭✭silverharp

I wouldnt use the term "breakthrough" they pierced certain lines, months later there is still a line on the map right beside the village of Robotyne.

the question is always what will happen now, not dissecting the past, As that song goes, you gotta know when to hold them and when to fold them. The US are happy if Ukr keep punching Russia so wont be inclined to give Zel the tap on the shoulder as the US doesnt have any skin in the game, and Zelensky is stuck with the Macbeth problem of ...tedious as to go o'er.

The best interests of Ukrainians as of today is to minimize future deaths

Be careful of that Time article

it was written by Simon Shuster who is … Russian

he emigrated to US and then went back to Russia and works for Moscow time and produced all sorts or articles since 2014 which gave rise to the memes we seen on this thread

How do you propose minimising future Ukrainian deaths?

The Ukrainians would need to be honest with themselves first, if they dont honestly believe they cant get back materially more land in a year, its time to negotiate, the risk is the Russians have decided to win on the battlefield and the war ends with Ukraine in a weaker position with 10s of thousands more of their men dead. The problem is this is a sunk cost fallacy writ large. The risk adverse strategy would have been to use the summer offensive as a feint while they built their own Suroviken lines and make it near impossible for the Russians to gain any more ground while keeping their own army intact.

300,000 burst vodka infused meatbags pushing sunflowers out of Ukrainian mud disagree with you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 843 ✭✭✭m2_browning

How do you propose they trust Russians to not go back on these negotiations, again?

There is a long list of treaties and assurances that Russia gave Ukraine which they shat upon multiple times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,854 ✭✭✭✭silverharp

assume you cant trust them, whereever the lines end up, the Ukrainians build their own reinforced lines. If anyone has learned anything from this war Ukr has learned that land invasions in the drone era is painfully expensive. Their military strategy in the future will be to turn their country into a poison pill.

Their current strategy of destroying the remaining half of the Russian poorly equipped personnel who are being thrown into pointless meat assaults and ever dwindling equipment, accomplishes that and offers an opportunity which lead to the complete collapse of Putin’s regime itself

Which not only would buy Ukraine decades but offer a path to regain all their territory and people and kidnapped kids

I'd say that first off, the fact that it happened at all meant that Putin allowed it, and it made international news and was a clear signal to Putin's new found friends in Iran that "Russians" support them. Then the crackdown was for the benefit of the Israelis' that he will protect Jews, as he is trying to maintain a good working relationship with Putin, because ( up to now ) he (Putin) has ignored Israeli strikes in Syria. All that's changed now of course, and especially since Amir Weitmann head of the Libertarian Party in the Likud party went on Russian TV and publicly promised retribution to Russians who had helped Hamas.

I have zero sympathy for them. Anyone doing business with Russia, even before 2014, knew the risks they were taking.
