Tesla says it has worked to improve the interior quality – one of the main pitfalls of its predecessor

Say what? I'm diving a 231 model 3 and it has a lot of flaws but interior quality isn't one of them

Let’s see if Ireland gets the same price cut, but it looks like it’s actually bringing the base uk price more in line with Ireland.

It appears to be a better car in almost every way, and a big chunk off the price, so there’s no doubt it will drop the 2nd hand market a little more

That's exactly what I'm hoping. I am looking for a model 3 second hand. I can wait until the new year.

    Hi Folks,

I had my heart set on a model Y but actually now love the look of Model 3 Highland, love the headlights and the front bumper, and the interior looks better (although I wish Elon had left an indicator stalk but anyway). I hope to order in black for 44k as the grants were kept in the recent budget until 2026 so all good in that regard. When I go in to order the car on Tesla website it is telling me I will have the car in Jan/Feb 2024, how realistic is this in your opinion?

As realistic as anyone can guess to be honest. I’d expect if to be near bang on.

Is it still the case that tesla standard model does not come with anything like mats or charging cables and I need to order this before taking delivery?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,258 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

No, they always came with charging cables (a Type 2 AC cable and a UMC (3 pin ‘granny charger’)), and since sometime in 2021/2022 they all come with floor mats.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 42,548 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

That’s not a case here. Internet pub talk.

My 2020 car came with all 3, mats, granny and 32a 3 phase 7.5m cable.

Thank you! then I have definitely decided to go with the standard model over the long range! so exciting!! now the final choice is the colour hahaha...

If you originally chose the Model Y I presume you need the extra space or the height? There will be a very mild refreshed MY coming next year. It's available to order in China but it's only a matter of time before it's available to order here. It will have the same 0-100km/h time as the M3 RWD, slight more range due to different tyres, slightly different dash(no wood), and black plastic wheel caps instead of the current white caps.

It looks like the finance deals are up but it's 6.9% for Model 3 versus 3.9% for Model Y.

When do people apply for the financing through Tesla, should I wait until closer to the delivery date in case they drop the APR?

Also, I assume the mileage you choose for the PCP only matters if you plan on trading it back in to Tesla?

I tried placing the order but it comes with "Your card number was invalid. Try again" ... it is a revolut card. do they not accept revolut?? i assume they just see a visa card

They do indeed. Try it on a different phone or another browser.

Proof that money (or access to leverage) doesnt buy taste or class.

Harsh. Maybe they just like gold. Life's better with a bit of difference.

How do you know he has money. Getting a car wrapped isn't that dear. Or maybe he is some arab on a visit and got the car gold plated. Well if so then yes I agree with you.

They might just be a fan of Sloane Street videos from 2015

I think there is a qr code on the driver's door. Hard to see in these pictures and I only saw it with my bad eyes coming out of the roundabout but I believe I saw something resembling a QR on it. Let's assume a publicity stunt. I found it funny

Owners, don’t ignore the servicing of the car. I was lucky. Mechanic said my oil filter was completely worn and needed replacement today.

Currently it seems like it would actually be better value to buy a new Tesla than buy 2nd hand. Am I off the mark here? Do we think the 2nd hand price of a model 3 will come down significantly prior to the year end or the beginning of next year?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,146 ✭✭✭sk8board

In a word yes. New is the best value tesla still.

Not many cars on the 2nd hand market. LRs are the best value if you can get a good deal. A late 21 or 22 car was €65/67k new, but obviously significantly less now with all the price cuts. Not many owners getting out of them to crystallise the loss, except those moving to the Y maybe.

the only benchmark of sorts appears to be 2020 cars selling in the €23-28k range, anything more and they just sit there. I’ve some private sale ads saved for months and months asking slightly more but not selling. they’d have been roughly €48k cars new I think, and they’d be US cars with the chrome and different batteries, so it’s about right for 3yr depreciation.

Best value at Moment is Model 3 LR RWD (still a few in Inventory for immediate delivery with cheap finance which saves thousands over life of loan for anyone avaialing of finance)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,863 ✭✭✭poker--addict

Definitely - I also have several used cars saved for months and they aren't moving. For an extra 3-4K in many cases you get a new car instead, 0Km, full warranty, no unknown driving history, and possibly 0% finance if timed right.

I suspect sellers are anchored by the price they paid pre price cuts, which is human nature, but totally irrelevant to current valuations.

With a new Y I don't really want to stretch to a new model 3 price as our other car, and may now end up with an ID3 or similar, as the second had teslas prices represent no value in my view.

    😎

I wouldn’t worry about getting an ID3. Very good car. Wouldn’t have sold mine for my Model 3 had the second hand market not been crazy high at the time. ID was a fun car, very refined and well screwed together..😊
