Any sleeper hits you'd recommend? I downloaded Corpse Party and Liberation Maiden last night, looking forward to giving them a go. Trying to see if there are any download only games like Kokuga etc as I most of the games I played on it over the years were retail releases.

As if it couldn't be made any easier! That's crazy, will get that installed this evening. I see it was actually staring me in the face as an option on the website too.

We're going to need a bigger SD card.

Lot of RPGs on the 3DS. I'd recommend all the guild 01 games, short games that come from big name developers. Of them the two standouts are crimson shroud and attack of the friday monsters.

    The denpamen games are great.

Tokyo crash mobs is good craic.

If highly recommend Rusty's real deal baseball as well although I'm not sure how it will work now. Basically its a bunch great minigame themed around baseball. You got two of them free and then would have to haggle the price down as you played them for the next set, real world money. You could then buy them at the reduced price or continue to haggle until rusty informed you the price couldn't get any lower and then buy them.

I got them all and finished the story. You might have to get the DLC and install it as you go along with the game to play it now.

Give Pocket Card Jockey a whirl and let me know when you finally re-emerge.

Forgot about that one. I'm hoping it comes to android as it's on iOS.

It's one of those thing that was so obviously designed with the 3DS in mind that anything porting or remastering of it is just going to look a bit compromised.

Yeah but I want to play it on the bog while taking a break from work 🤣

    Yeah, I can't argue with a man's needs.

HamonKnight is another rhythm-based banger, exclusive to the 3DS as well. Also by Game Freak, as it happens — crazy what those lads get up to when they're not getting mollywhopped into putting out weirdly undercooked, yet oddly compelling Pokemon games.

Game freak always make really interesting games, I wish they weren't so occupied with Pokemon.

My cousin rented out a NES game one weekend when we were kids, must have been the very early 90s. I could never remember the name of the game, just had a foggy memory about the character being a little yellow bird and there was something to do with bird cages at the end of the levels.

Was playing about with some MiSTer arcade cores last night and stuck on The New Zealand Story.

Had one of those almost out of body experiences where an ancient memory of sitting in a room in front of the TV with a NES controller in my hand immediately pops back into my brain. Even the background tiles in the game looked really familiar, absolutely bizarre feeling.

I think what's probably most shocking about it is it means I haven't actually played The New Zealand story since the early 90s. 😅 - it's some game, hell of a lot of fun.

I read the secondline of your post and in my mind shouted, New Zealand Story! Was playing the same on MiSTer/cab the other week and a few hours went by quite quickly. Remember playing it a lot on the C64 back in the day. Good times.

It's a great game. The Americans don't seem to appreciate it but it got some great home computer conversions. I only played the Amiga version which was great.

If it was called 'The American Story', they'd be all over it

The NES version in the US is called "Kiwi Kraze"!

Gave it another whirl this evening, the character sprites really are gorgeous, and a great example of how you can make characters filled with personality with very little really. It's quite impressive in that regard.

I love the whale boss. It was mind blowing. Quite a few games copies it afterwards like Yoshi's island.

Playing through Zelda LTTP on my Pocket. I've never completed the GBA version and was due a play through.

I HATE Skull Woods so much!

Also have a Super Mario 64 play through wrapping up.

All these new games I buy and I just come back to stuff I loved in the 90s :D

So decided to finish up with knightmare and admit it's beaten me. Got to the end using the 25 loves cheat code and judicial use of save states. It's a remarkable game that still holds up despite such primitive hardware. I just had to admit defeat at stage 6 as I doubt I'd get good enough in this lifetime to beat it.

Got some funny looks off the girlfriend last night when she asked me why I was playing blackjack on my PC. I had to explain to her that I needed to win enough to send the ghosts in the casino to the afterlife and if I walked out of the casino a ghost lady would chase me.

Echo Night is a weird game.

Bravely Default and it’s pretty much the dream JRPG for those of us whose favourite part is severely over-preparing for everything. It doesn’t hurt it actually manages to be genuinely charming on top of it.

You say that now but the game unfortunately turns to **** at the halfway point.

A great half a game for sure, never even bothered playing much more beyond that.

Also: some of the most confusing nomenclature for a video game series (although Kingdom Heart still wins):

    Bravely Default

    Bravely Second

    Bravely Default II

Why can you never let me have nice things? What happens after halfway?

It's worth playing to that point but after it starts wasting your time reusing areas, it's like it's forcing you to play it twice.

This one though isn't just me being me. I think everyone that plays it has the same complaint unfortunately. It's frustrating because it's a fantastic game until that point.

So I'm meant to be playing beyond the labyrinth but every time I turned on my 3DS I end up playing pushmo. I'm totally addicted to it, to the point where I'm having Tetris effect type dreams about it. It's such a clever little puzzle game, my only complaint being how hard it gets quite quickly. Ive 30 more stages in the post game content to go and the difficulty is sky high.

Pushmo is definitely one of my favourite 3DS games, played tonnes of it when it came out. Really great use of the 3D feature.

Started playing Pocket Card Jockey today and I kinda wish I didn't, it's all I want to play now.
