All Pixels are network unlocked, always have been.

Pixels are never factory locked, Three are waffling IMO

Got myself the pro and the watch (which i'll probably shift unless it surprises me)

Worth noting you can get 3% cashback on topcashback when ordering through the google store (just change the /gb/ in the url to /ie/ after clicking through), tracked at £22

I agree that Three chat agents arent fully informed, but Pixels can be locked by Telcos, which is why I was asking the question if anyone had bought a Pixel 7 from Three in the past.

    From Googles website:

Use your Pixel phone with any mobile operator

...If you bought a phone from a mobile service provider, it could be SIM-locked for up to 2 years. If so, the phone can get mobile service only from that service provider until the seller removes the SIM-lock or the contract ends

I would be surprised if it was, however the fact it is cheaper to purchase from Three may be because it is network locked.

Virgin Media put up an ad saying pixel 8 coming in autumn and no details on ordering. Still waiting on Vodafone, live chat wouldn't give me any joy.

HN website states P8 is available from the 12th and Google order says delivered also on the 12th, so dont expect the phone to be available much before that date.

Does anyone have a studentbeans login?

Looks like they can get a 10% discount code. Not sure if it works for pixel 8 tho

I'm on to VF now, they wouldn't give me a date either only soon, I said it was disappointing that a large provider like VF are not one of the first to list and that it is listed on the UK site. I got transferred to customer care dept, first they tried to tell me its sold out and then they said it was up to management. Useless

Vodafone are beyond useless. I have gone into Vodafone stores in the past asking to buy a newly released phone. They would know nothing about it, but then when they look out the back they're already sitting there. Clueless.

I left Vodafone for that same reason. Ask a question and you get a blank stare. Usually have to ask a couple of people in the shop before you get one who knows. Never looked back.

Yeah. It also took me 3 visits to the same Vodafone store before I got someone who knew how to set up an eSIM. I can feel my blood pressure rising just thinking about it 😀

In fairness, you can set up & manage an esim without ever needing to go into a shop. Their support section on the website has a good step by step guide.

That might be the case now. It definitely wasn't then.

Its hard to comprehend what the difficultly is with VF updating a website for a pre-order??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68 ✭✭MarsyB

Very fustrating I literally only want to know bill pay pricing, Irish arms of multinationals always seem to reek of incompetence the free watch deal only lasts until I believe the 15th of Oct I wouldn't be surprised Vodafone doesn't update until after missing out on easy preorder sales.

If anyone is looking to sell their freebie Pixel watch 2 at a discount, DM me please

Went into Vodafone Grafton Street, they said usually don't get pricing into the store until day of release. :/

Use this as your opportunity to leave Bill Pay. There is no value in it, and there hasn't been for a long time.

You would save a lot of money going SIM only with someone and just buying the phone.

Company I work for make a sizeable contribution towards the bill I have always been a pay as you go man but this plays a huge factor. Somewhat sad to leave gomos 10 euro a month for life however.

I'm on the Gomo 10er for life and suits me fine, I have been offered a work phone but don't fancy using a crappy Samsung they give you that costs around 150 quid, there isnt an option for a nicer handset usually

In other news surprised to see my Pixel 5 got the latest Android update, thought that was gone after this year

I'm with Vodafone years. They offer the best coverage and they consider themselves premium. But the don't offer premium customer service. And their website is the worst.

The Friday give away is a joke compared to other carriers. And they never announce the winners. Scam

Where does it mention that Three have the promotion? I can't find it on the purchase page. Thanks.

Went to buy from Google, AIB blocking. No text to confirm purchase, so frustrating having call them to get it unblocked and then they tell its VISA not them. Then there is an interrogation followed by they want to walk me through the transaction to make sure it goes through. What century are in?

Same issue with me last night. Frustrating as I only purchased a P7 on same site at the recent bday sale a couple of weeks ago with no problem. Blaming VISA is nonsense as Ive seen other reports all with AIB.

It's the confirmation thing in the AIB app that takes maybe 20 seconds to kick in. Authorising the payment opened in a new tab on my laptop. Was able to order last night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,111 ✭✭✭wassie

I never got the notification last night. Customer Service said it got flagged and needed to be manually removed. No issues with this, but the fact there is no after hours support by AIB is rubbish, considering a lot of people shop online in their own time after work.
