Anyone else unable to make international calls.

Checked my account settings, nothing barred.

Yes. I've this issue. Can't make an international call and neither my wife or I could make any sort of call while abroad a few weeks ago. Data everything else worked perfectly. Ended up using whatsapp for calls.

According to Gomo chat there's a problem and they're working on it. Not confident of anything if it's been happening for a couple of weeks 🙄🙄

I'm on the original 9.99€ deal. Anyone on one of the later more expensive deals having this problem I wonder 🤔

I've been having an issue that I'm unable to accept calls from business mobiles. Gomo are investigating - just wondering has anyone else encountered this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,159 ✭✭✭wassie

I have no problem calling my Gomo number from my company issued mobile. They are not linked in anyway.

Yeah, could well be a phone issue either. But will see what I can find on that.

I had problems while roaming. Depending on what local network the phone was linked to, I would get "This number does not exist". I would switch to another network and the call would go through.

SMS are still an issue, both in Ireland and while roaming - with some people (not with all), I'd get confirmation of delivery but no message would actually reach them, irrespective of their network or mine (if roaming). They also had no blocks on receiving international calls/messages.

I'm having issues with roaming in Sweden at the moment. Worked perfectly fine yesterday and today nada. It has left me stranded, unable to activate the public transport pass I bought so had to walk ages today.

I get no data while on 3G. Is that normal?

My iPhone seems to switch to 3G when the 4g signal gets weak. I have to switch airplane mode on/off to get 4g back.

That’s not normal. I have 4G off and stay with 3G, data works.

Hi all, thinking of moving to gomo from Vodafone. Has anyone done the same and regretted it? With the latest Vodafone "inflation" increase on my bill I'm now paying €44 a month and I can't justify it anymore, and Vodafone download speeds in my area have been terrible lately.

No, that's exactly what I did, I'm sorry I didn't do it when it was a tenner🙂. I'm delighted with the service, I went to Serbia last year and was the only one who had decent coverage.

Brilliant, thanks! Delighted to hear that, just pulled the trigger 😎

Do you think roaming is as reliable as Vodafone’s?

Also isn’t 14gb roaming allowance quite low?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,549 ✭✭✭✭CoBo55

Much better than VF, yes it was quite low but once you reach the limit you can't get stung with a horrible bill when you come home.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,646 ✭✭✭Micky 32

Do they cut you off at the limit or charge extra?

Found roaming in France last year was hopeless outside Paris. Phonecalls were fine, but data, which is what we needed most was terrible at holding a stable 4G connection. May be better with 5G but I was only on the €12.99 plan so no 5G.

I always found Vodafone excellent for roaming. Just back from a road trip from Europe. France, Belgium and Amsterdam. I mostly had flawless 5G. I go to usa a lot and roaming works excellent there too.

I will be getting a VF prepay sim next time we head to the continent. We had GoMo (4G) and billpay Eir (5G) sims and they were both terrible for data connections.

I've just spent 2 weeks in Benelux and the only time I had no coverage was in a valley in Germany. The OH on 3 had patchier coverage.

Previous years never had an issue roaming in France, and was nowhere near Paris.

Hi Folks. For some reason my gomo tells me I am barred from making Outing calls. I have a Samsung phone and my settings are fine. I can recieve calls. I have put sim in and out and that's fine. Any advice?

Did your last payment go through?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 437 ✭✭Coolaboy

Thanks for your reply. Yes payment went through. I have 4 gomo sims and the three are working fine.

The other thing is to try and put that sim into another phone to see if you can make calls, or see if one of the other sims works on your phone (it could be a phone issue). Other than that, you'll have to either email them or to contact them by chat.

Was let down a second time this year by Gomo, this time in Croatia (last time was stranded in Minneapolis). Had to buy a 10euro, 10 day unlimited 3g Sim from T-Mobile, which worked a charm while I was there.

Definitely do not rely on Gomo when abroad...

Had you nothing at all? I was in Croatia on a day trip and it worked perfectly.
