The 3rd/most recent statement from Tubridy puts the blame all on RTE again. He's repeatedly done it since this all broke in June. No contriteness. All RTE's fault, nothing to do with me, when the reality is much different. 99% of people in RTE knew nothing about the secret tripartate deal including I'd imagine Bakhurst. So blaming RTE for that deal was never going to wash.

Tubridy will be able to mull over his mistakes for a long time. He basically wants to keep everything and for everyone to do his bidding. RTE have finally told him where to do.

Bakhurst's next move must be to hold the door ajar for a return but only if Tubridy ditches NKM, hands back the 150k, apologizes unreservedly and works for 170k.

And Bakhurst also needs to follow up in the next few days by pulling the plug once and for all on Tubridy's pay. If the door stays ajar indefinitely, Tubridy is paid and he gets to keep the 150k, this is the worst possible outcome, worse than him returning. There will be no incentive for Tubridy to hand back the 150k.

Actually there’s his next project- a collection of letters sent to me by the public telling me how great I am 😀

Yes, get another job elsewhere is a real directive that I’m in legal speak here. I’m saying nothing definitive and the door is not closed. But get another job…

Are you not just a little unsure of where you stand on this question 😛? Joking aside But you know what, I couldn’t possibly criticise even one word you’ve said there.

I dont get what all the fuss is about. The man is a contractor, his contract has been terminated. People talking about losing his job, he never had one in the first place! This is why the likes of George Lee are full time employees, they can just continue on.

And what about all the advertising Revenue that Tubs brought in ?

From memory Gaybo produced the LLS, possibly in the latter years. He had a strong say over who the guests were. Invariably many of the guests had strong personalities and were excellent raconteurs, although with an odd exception. He'd mostly let the guests do the talking and if he didn't like them, he'd ask loaded questions to get the response he wanted. Like you said he could react.

Interestingly Graham Norton has a similar style to Gaybo. He lets the guests recount funny stories. He asks loaded questions. Its a bit unpredictiable and anarchic like the original LLS was. And having all the guests on the couch at once is a great format, the original LLS was like that. Its like a pub atmosphere. You didn't get that with the LLS under Tubridy or Pat Kenny either. It became staid and predictable under them.

Anyway this now just put Ryan Tubrity's involvement to rest.

There are many in the media for some reason think he is the Messiah of the Media.

RTÉ now need to focus on content and governance.

Newstalk may want to talk to Tubs and VMTV might do a Saturday Night chat show with him, if they move quickly. But it is unlikely.

I said eloquently not elegantly. And regardless of your diverting comment his articles were very well received particularly amongst parents of children with difficulties.

So folks, what’s next for Tubridy and where? (genuinely interested in your views on this question btw)

If he made an independent production (say an Iroish documentary on west of Ireland living or other similar predicable gumphf) would RTÉ actually buy it or would they run a mile for fear of being seen to let Tubridy in a back door or something? TV3 might buy it but no one would watch it there😂

What about an EU funds sponsored show on BBCNI where Tubridy tells everyone how to “be kind”? 🤪

Im out of ideas but I just don’t see where he’d fit in right now. Just because you move stations to say Newstalk or Today, doesn’t mean your listenership will move with you- he’s been in a very overinflated bubble that was RTÉ public service broadcasting where he made private sector levels of money - he’s going to have a big wake up call .

I don't believe he spent a penny on either legal or PR. He left that to NK management. If he had spent just a few hundred quid on his own PR advisor, that statement on Wednesday would never have been released and he would be back in his job in two weeks time.

He was a fraud. Full stop.

Note the use of past tense.

He didn't The Late Late Show and Radio 1 brought in the money.

He was on 2fm for 5 years, resulting in the station requiring a license fee funding for the first time in its history.

It is unlikely that the 9 to 10 slot on Radio 1 will see a massive fall in audience according to the research, the latest set of JNRL show little to no change in his audience as with most JNRL results.

Tubs will have to prove his worth else were and that is only on Newstalk, Today FM and VMTV.

Tubridy would be "bonkers" to pursue a legal avenue here. People normally take such expensive action to clear their good name as the repercussions of not doing so are themselves hugely expensive and damaging.

There is no upside for Tubs in going this route. He will slam that slightly ajar door in his own face and ultimately will make himself all the more unpalatable for any would be employers. Maybe most of all, it will be the final nail in the coffin of what standing he has left as, 'wheeze', Ireland's most trusted man. Any sign of that 150k Ryan?

What a marked contrast Tubs fiasco has been to Marty Morrissey. Ok, Marty was in the hapenny place in comparison, but he knew enough to make a fulsome apology and didn't dress it up as "a slightly unorthodox method of transport"

Had Tubs not been so deluded, he could be looking at a return in 2 weeks.

Yeah the couch panel discussion was a major factor of some of the great LLS’s of the past- I’ve said for many years now that that way of doing a show just worked and why did they insist on shelving it . Maybe it’s because you can no longer smoke and drink whilst on TLLS😀

I think this is what happens when you type ‘rubbish’ and ‘ejaculate’ into ChatGPT.

On the actual issue, RT is a very public glimpse of a deeper systemic problem with poor governance over many years in RTÉ. However, he was complicit and not naive to the special arrangement made for him (and don’t forget nobody else got this arrangement and we have no evidence anyone else asked for one) It was done so RT kept his full take home pay and RTE could pretend all the top earners were taking a pay cut , part of a now desperate former DG’s ‘strategy’ to look like she could reign in spending while going begging to government for more public money.

He is entitled to fight for his career and restore something of a good name, he’s not entitled to revisionism and alternative facts.

Hopefully Tubs decides to blow the whistle on many others in RTE out of spite and several more get caught out. K Thomas/Marty/Geary etc. Surely loads of them have crossed the line with dodgy dealings. He is probably the kind that would too...

I never listened to his radio show or watched the LLS and I’m still alive.

I think presenting pseudo-intellectual history documentaries on TV is how Tubridy perceived his future alright. I think he'd be totally unsuited to it. There would be little overlap between his fanbase and history enthusiasts for a start. Also he has shown time and again he knows f**k all about history, and he's not prepared to put the time in to inform himself. For example, a couple of months ago on his radio show, after reading cue cards about his upcoming trip to Limerick, Tubridy, a history graduate and self-confessed Irish history nerd, said he had never heard about Patrick Sarsfield. Nobody with an interest in history could ever take him seriously.

So Ryan Tubridy did a Devon loch to his career at RTE then ? Btw Devon loch was a horse that was leading the grand National and spooked himself.

What was he thinking what that statement after the grant Thornton report ? He should’ve said nothing.

edit: corrected after a helpful tip from @Brendan Bendar.

Could open his own business and use his name..

Hot-Tubs - Spas and hot tubs

Scrub a Dub Tubs - Cleaning service

Crying with Ryan - Counciling service

Or use his name to advertise for a business like Ryanair, Tubs or Tiles or Renault.

I almost hope he goes down the legal route. He'll be laughed out of court and lose even more money and cause even more hatred towards him in RTE and make him unemployable everywhere. All the dodgy deals and tripartite arrangements will be brought up, all the statements thrashing his employer. Any judge worth his salt would throw it out and say he brought his employer tremendous disrepute. Its RTE who should be suing Tubridy for the loss of their reputation and consequent revenue, and also NK and Dee Forbes. Hopefully this happens if Tubridy decides to go down the legal route.
