Thats it exactly. I'd go out of my way (most times) for a beer I was going to enjoy, I wouldn't expect 'my beer' on tap everywhere.

The vast majority will just take whats nearest, so Heineken gets 99% of the trade anyway. Maybe next time the contract is up it could be accommodated.

Yeah, that line up wouldn't blow you away. Maybe some diamonds in the rough that I don't know. Couple of good acts that were there last year, Sun Masheen, Scattered Ashes but yeah, a bit underwhelming.

A nice little piece of marketing there, yeah it would be nice to have other beers on site, (and also have the salty dog free area for beer while we are at it but with Terminus that now isnt possible either)

1 f**king hundred % this - charging bar prices for cans - i have a lot of barely suppressed rage about this ....

Slim pickings in Fishtown, thats for sure. Mik Pyro, Pale Blue Eyes and maybe one or two more pending research. Such high hopes dashed.

That's fairly underwhelming, I reckon Jerry's budget allowance gets lower every year. Having the pony girls and pole dancers as part of the lineup just looks like they're trying to fill out the lineup, when they're part of it every year anyway.

not too overwhelmed with jerry to be honest.

Mik Pyro definitely, the Oozes probably, and simple kid to give me that mid noughties feelin'

lots of repeats there as usual.

Recommend Pixie Rythm Cut Orchestra - very good , and Mik Pyro as most will know is great too

Simple Kid - havent seen before so that could be onto my list too

Jerry not as good as previous years, subject to checking out some unknowns, but will add Simple Kid and Scattered Ashes (good last year). Pontious Pilate were good fun last year so if no clash will go see again. Saw JYellowL at night and day and while not generally my cup of tea was very good.

I can see both sides of this. Heineken have always pumped a lot of cash into the festival, thus helping with the booking of major acts and with the festival’s survival in tougher year. It’s not surprising that they demand exclusivity, but some flexibility wouldn’t go amiss.

Also very frustrating, particularly for a local brewer to be locked out, and it’d be good for FR to make some small accommodation for them. In the first 2/3 years there was a small craft beer stall and an independent cider outfit. Can’t see them ever returning though. I’ll be along to Super Valu to pick up a few of his cans. A smart post, they’ll do well from it. And deservedly so.

I reckon so. My band was in negotiations to play there, and the budget wouldn't cover our fairly modest fee. We got what we were looking for on another stage without any questions.

Still I'm sure there will be some interesting acts in there which will be worth seeing.

    Ah that lineup is disappointing.

Far weaker than last year but the return of Simple Kid will be one of my highlights of the weekend. Mik Pyro always worth a look. I’d welcome some recommendations.

Simple Kid brilliant at Oxegen 2004, filled the main tent too though the drizzle undoubtedly helped.

Seen him a couple of other times too, reliably good. That first album is amongst my faves of the early 2000s.

Nothing really there for me having gone through the Spotifys, may pop into cat Dowling if there's nothing else on.

    Meh

Yeah they're pissing about with this blurred name business, what do you think, will they reveal on the 18th or whenever.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

They'll realise someone just spilt some milk on it at the graphic design place and slowly remove it.

Are you allowed tell us your band and where you will be playing, have you made our list of bands to see already !!

    Give us a hint 😉

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,089 ✭✭✭fjon

Ah, we're very low on the tier of bands and it's a relatively new project so not too well known. We're playing one of the stages that hasn't been announced yet. I'm mainly here on this thread as a fan of EP, playing there and getting free entry is just a bonus

My plan this year is to buy tickets full price so I'm not waiting to resell them like the installments.

Wait and see what all together and body and soul look like and may sell based off the initial EP lineup. I'm not thrilled about this year's lineup.

It's the 20th anniversary so maybe they'll pull out the stops.

Or I may be having a baby and then it's zero fests.
