Yeah we lost the car last year in the pissing rain and howling wind and tramped around for about 40 mins with all the gear looking for it, I was gonna give up and start a new life in that field.

    Hey all!

First time staying in Eco this year and I just have a few quick questions!

Are there any showers in the Eco campsite? Also is it similar to the normal campsite in the way it’s a free for all for a spot I’ve seen photos where it looks like they’re set up in rows! Thanks all and only 19 sleeps!

Well lads and lasses, in now for the final few weeks. I'm also backing the prodigy as the blurred act (though the have pulled out of two festivals this weekend with maxim back trouble). Quick question too, anyone any experience sleeping in the car park? Thought I had a campervan ticket but don't think so now! Was thinking of bringing a small tent to store stuff in the main campsite but retiring to the van at night. Any thoughts? Do you have to go through wristband queue every time? Will they even allow a camper in the general car park? And are the strict on not sleeping in there? Thanks in advance.

No showers, there’s a couple of cold taps/hoses for those brave enough in swim wear.

The main shower block in Hendrix ist that far away. (Green circle)

ECO for the past few years has been in the “Woodlands” site, hopefully we return here it’s a beautiful location with forest on two sides and natural hedge rows all round, eagerly awaiting the 2023 map.

If staying there are a couple of things you should know.

1: ECO isn’t pink moon where tents of the same shape are erected in perfect rows. Booking is per person not per tent, as you can imagine lots of +/- on space. If arriving Friday, you may find it difficult to get a spot.

2: Small point, there are small oak saplings dotted over the field, this can restrict space, what looks like a usable spot can be hampered, especially if you have a large tent.

3: Saved the biggest for last. The rave in the woods is next door, and will be pumping until 4:30am! My goal as always is to get into the blue area, there’s some shelter from the noise via the tree line + ensure to have soft silicone ear buds from boots.

Despite these negatives it’s a cracking location, close to everything, 24 hour security, clean, usually sound campers.

Car parks are outside of the main boundary so yes, wristband and through a security check every time.

My tent went tits up a few years ago, 2 of us ended up sleeping in the car. There are regular patrols, lads continually driving around in vans, if they see you they will move you on. We were discrete, in a car, hidden in rows, where it wasn’t easy to get to.

You might get away with a stealthy van type camper hidden in the corner, however if in a full blown camper, I’d imagine you’ll draw attention to yourself.

Why they don’t allow an additional field of campers outside the main arena I don’t know! Must be a security issue, incase they get people arriving without tickets?

Thanks for the info. So looks like we may have to go back to the tent days. And didn't even register for eco! Not tent camped since 2017, Chaplin then. Would that still be the quietest option these days?

Quite liking Clondalkin rapper SELLÓ, a good blend of trad songs and hip-hip. Interesting guy also going by the recent Irish Times interview. Another option for me.

And the Trailer Park lineup out soon? They had a fair few goodies on their stage at Latitude.

Any locals from Stradbally here? Ive accommodation booked in a place called Ballinteskin (near Aughamaddock). I was told it was a 20min walk in to Stradbally but from google maps its looking like double that. If anyone knows the area could you let me know might have some other questions.

Also, that address brings us in via the Timahoe road side - are general punters able to access the festival for that side or is only for campers/familes?

Your wristband will be for weekend camping so if you can get to the entrance opposite the yellow carpark you'll have no problem getting in.

I've never been on the Timahoe Road over the festival weekend but I'd suspect it's car only so you might not be let walk along it.

What’s the closest car park to pink moon? And if arriving early Friday how can we head that way. Kept getting diverted last year and had a really long walk.

I didn't spot Scally on the line up. That's now been added to my list.

Cheers for all the recommendations so far. Lots of listening to do!

I’ll be at all of those bar KKC who I’ve no time for. Great trad stuff at Croi (particularly Scullion & De Danann) but probably not you thing.

Powpig, Scustin, Lightning Seeds, Royal Otis, The Love Buzz and Bootleg Beach Boys all worth a look. Nia Archives sounds interesting also and Unknown Mortal Orchestra a better live band than given credit for here IMHO.

Green and you'll be parking in Red if arriving on Friday but it's not that bad as you can walk along the road to the paintball entrance.

Don't be tempted to hump your gear through the woods path to PM, use the road.

Green car park, its also the only car park open for Thursday entry, so likely to be full if arriving Friday.

If you do happen to get funnelled into red, you can minimise the hardship slightly by walking down the Abbeyleix road to the “paintball” entrance (If they let you) Vs walking down the forest path.

They have to let you as it’s the only access route to pink moon silver.

Just heard back from Johnny Ringo that Cian Finn is organising this 'Remembering De Danann' gig in memory of Alec Finn, so should be an interesting gig.

Great read of your ATN review @bodhrandude. Will never for the life of me understand how some security lack the most basic common sense at these things
