Bucking the trend, Harry. Good luck. You're a braver man than me.

More of a forced decision sadly.

If I can't sell, I could still turn up on my own for part of the weekend.

Here's a question. I need my old man to drive his camper in for me (as I don't have my C1 yet) and then I'll hand over the keys to the car and he can leave. I know friends did that for ATN so I'm guessing there shouldn't be another bother for EP?

Also in Belfast Limelight 2, Dublin Button Factory and Cork Cyprus Avenue from September 7-9. I shall be at the Button Factory gig.

Spot on. I’ve only seen Skepta and Kano but both are streets ahead of this dude. However at any fest he’ll pull an enormous crowd, 29.5m monthly listeners on Spotify. What do we know?

Surprisingly @Stillill42 almost all the Boardsies crew are back for EP 2023. Still haven’t fathomed out how this has happened, possibly a last hurrah.

Ah it always turns out OK in the end, doesn't it? One way or the other, I'm sure ye'll go out with a bang.

Here’s hoping for the Marr/TCM/Astley Blossoms triumvirate. You’ll be missed.

actually, lets not be too hard on fred again... his tiny desk appearance is one of the best ever, and his 3 'actual life' albums are very good...

i had no idea who he was when the initial announcement was made (cos im not down wiv de kidz), but hes made his way onto my "wanna see" list.

you can drop one into mimi webb all you want though... :D

Saw him last year after discovering him as part of research. He was very good live and depending on clashes will be happy to go along again. Agree re mimi Webb bloody awful

Anyone heading to Forest Fest this weekend? I'm looking at a Sunday ticket, but also looking at the weather forecast.

How relaxed is it? Can i bring an umbrella? Can I bring some cans in my backpack as a day visitor?

Fred Again is one of those that I was unsure about initially, but watched him at Glastonbury, and he did a super set; really looking forward to him now.

    umberellas should be fine,

cans within the festival grounds wont be allowed.

Plenty of love for Fred Again. So there we have it, incontrovertible proof that the war has been lost. Repeatedly poor/average lineups have obliterated critical faculties. Vive la bland.

Ah now Dreamweapon. Always room for different tastes. You lean far more to the experimental than most of us. Although I'm with you on Fred.

Fred Again is a no from me. I see his point and I'm alright with it but just not my thing electronica-wise. See also Overmono, the amount of hype on eFestivals and OOF Discord Group was insane for these guys, but ultimately it was the most sinfully drrrryyyyy 4-4 two-guys house music.

And I've lived through prog house DJs dropping 5 minute breakdowns mid set.

We're heading all weekend, with no small amount of trepidation that we might be bored shitless at times.

fair enough, all opinions are valid, and you wont find me arguing against the blandness of the recent line ups....

but i will still give fred again the thumbs up and for me hes much more "see-able" than the likes of jamie xx. Im not an electronica fan really, and my experience of live DJs culminated in squat raves of hardcore acid trance techo in Haarlem and Rotterdam in the mid 90's. For me those experiences will never be beaten, and one of the reasons ive never really gotten into the EDM scene since.

However i do appreciate something that sounds good to my ear, something i can put on in the background while chilling or working, and Freds stuff since 2020 does that for me. Ive never seen him live, ive never even watched a youtube live set other than the tiny desk appearance (which i will highly recommend to anyone who hasnt seen it yet)

Im happy enough to have one more "wanna see" on list than i did when the initial announcement was made, nothing more than that. in the absence of an alternative, its a positive for me.

Ah, now that's more like it. I'd go to THAT festival.

Good stuff re Salty Dog. You'll mainly find me there this year. Interested to see how the new lead singer of TCM goes. I see Ham Sandwich are not on the Dog this year (really enjoyed them last year). Promoted to a tent, perhaps!

Very happy, can't wait to hear pet sounds in full

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 111 ✭✭duckdiggler

Aaaaaaaarrr me hearties - Some great Irish bands right there . Now to break into the site, bury loads of cans near salty dog and recover them over the weekend 😅

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,356 ✭✭✭endainoz

Lovely salty Dog lineup there, thumper will be epic in that sort of a setting. The pet sounds thing could be on the Thursday night like the way the did the salty Dog no stars performing let it bleed last year. (Which was absolutely a weekend highlight for me)

Looks good; however 6 of those have already been announced for Trailer Park:

Tan and Sober Gentlemen, Bootleg Beach Boys, White Horse Guitar Club, William the Conqueror, Darnell Cole, the Deadlians

It will happen, sometimes the bands on the smaller stages will play multiple gigs for that performers wristband, it happens at Body&Soul all the time and various other festivals.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

    absolutely delighted with saltyDog !!

'overhead the albatross' immediately jumps to my "must see" list. caught them at dolans back in january.

heres a taster of what that gig was like:

when RSAG plays hes always a must see. POWPIG and Gurriers return after great shows last year.

also delighted with the eskies, a "groove festival" fav back in those days. Jinx Lennon always worth a watch, always unique and mostly fun. Pale Blue Eyes are poppy fun in the sun type band and sprints are excellent.

L8k8ng that line up. Sprints one of my highlights from last year. Saw eskies at night and day were a bit of fun if not overly different music. Lot of crossover with trailer park ehich may help with clashes. Excitement level up a few notches.
