Wouldn't expect much from either of them anyway. You'll have to go to Newstalk for competent journalists.

Ah cmon, culpable of what? This thread has opened my eyes to the level of solidarity in Irish society. Despite what seemed like overwhelmingly evidence to the contrary at times, this thread proves we really are a caring and selfless bunch

Check out post 10436, it's all there

That's personal. Fat shaming attempt (even though I'm pure steel). Definitely report you for personal abuse.

Tbh I would hope that the majority of the Irish electorate are a bit more discerning that voting as directed by RTE.

Mattie McGrath couldn’t run a bath.

His contributions to the committees have been nothing but grandstanding and soapboxing. A complete waste of time.

🎵Ten top talents, sitting on the scaffolding

🎵Ten top talents, sitting on the scaffolding

🎵And if one top talent, should accidentally fall

🎵There'd be nine top talents, sitting on the scaffolding

and so on it will go

Why are these talent stars leaving NK now?

I guess it's either for some sort of moral statement (but we keep getting told nothing wrong was done)

Or they also have something yet to be revealed, and think by jumping now from NK they will be saved as reborn stars?

I personally think O'Leary is the most untrustworthy of them all. I think she is lying and has been milking RTE for years with freebies and expenses. The CFO is simply incompetent. The Board chair is a figurehead and hasn't any control or oversight. The director of strategy is an arrogant sleazeball.

I'd like to hear from Forbes and Jennings the most

And Tubs is very fake and is the worst value for money of everyone in RTE.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

She was already removed from the home page, that photo will end up just being NK

I thought this was fantastic. Anthony Halpin, the judge who presides over cases involving non payment of the TV license has hit out against the culture of "elitism, god-like personalities", and "freeloaders" within RTE, all in a time when people are "crippled with the cost of living crisis". RTE reports on the responses to its own culture.

A Dublin judge presiding over the capital's TV licence prosecutions has slammed RTÉ for what he described as elitism, "god-like personalities", and "freeloaders" while defendants were "crippled with the cost of living".

Dublin District Court has a special weekly sitting for cases brought by An Post against TV owners who have not paid their €160 annual television licence fees.

Today's list featured 159 prosecutions, but before hearing the cases, Judge Anthony Halpin delivered a strongly-worded preamble about the ongoing controversy at the national public service broadcaster.

He said he was "disgusted and appalled" by the revelations.

"It is a criminal offence and on conviction, it carries a fine and a record of having committed a crime.

"The people before this court are accused of failing to pay the TV licence fee, and these people may feel a little hard done by when they see the way RTÉ has abused statutory funding which is annually provided to RTÉ."

Did anyone ever think they'd see the following passage reported by RTE:

"Shame on those who have brought that about. I will go no further than those remarks, but I must say those freeloaders in RTÉ who received a loan of cars, who received branded cars free gratis, spouses of RTÉ who were wined and dined and part-took of events at the expense of RTE, and others who were lavished with such generosity, ought to pay back to the organization the euro equivalent of the benefit they received, to help this financially strapped semi-State body.

Crucially, Halpin is factoring the revelations about RTE's culture into sentencing and won't be seeking to lay down the maximum sentence possible on those who can't or won't pay the license.

Senator Timmy Dooley exonerating not only Marty Morrissey, but Ryan Tubridy and Noel Kelly in an interview with Clare FM.

Quote from the audio interview, when talking about the secret top-Up payments from the barter account:

“That’s no fault of, in my view, of either Ryan Tubridy or Noel Kelly. As an agent, he was entitled to do the best deal for his client that he could”.

This is from 2012 - why not look at accounts then?

    Fri 10 Aug 2012 at 10:47

RYAN Tubridy made his way to and from work yesterday on his new Vespa scooter, after it was reported he’s seen his salary cut by €150,000 in four years.

Never mind Dooley. I don't think he's the smartest but he has a big mouth. Maybe they have dirt on him.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

He has to remove himself from the committee if he has reached an opinion before the meeting has taken place? Lost all objectivity.

It was always about RTE in fairness. Hiprocrocy isn't good for the image though.

I get the impression than the non talented workers in RTE are more than happy to report on this story at length because they are sick of the elite, entitled and arrogant pricks they have to work with. The work culture must have been absolutely toxic.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

If you refuse to take a paycut and demand that your boss gives you under the table payments instead so that you can claim publicly that you did take a paycut, then yes, you do have culpability as the entire exchange was a result of your actions.

It is literally in the definition of the word.

If NK was this brilliant agent getting the best for his clients, and an independent entity, the fact 3 have left him is very interesting.

They don't want to be associated with him. And they must know a lot more is going to come out about him.

RTE could never have been impartial with one agent controlling the main “talent”. They allowed themselves be beholden to that agent who at all times controlled the entire narrative concerning the “talent”. To me it has always been clear as the image I see when I look in the mirror. Have been warned by several individuals to watch what I said even if it was subtle hinting. Democracy is a delicate thing, and an over over-controlled national broadcaster and other media is counter to its healthy existence.

With his 'talent' having their pay cut, the agent's percentage also drops. Though maybe they worked out a way for the agent not to lose his percentage . . . etc etc

Exactly! I know you are horse but I would have thought you would have picked up on the sarcasm with or without smiles!

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

    Hahahahaha.

Fair enough. I hold my hands up there!

They left because they don't want to be associated with the skullduggery that went. Similar to how the shampoo people dropped Michelle Smith when she was accused.

No one wants to be linked to what went on. I'd leave NK too

I hope that Timmy came to a complete stop before he put his mouth into reverse. You can do awful damage to your tonsils if not.

The reaction from anyone who's followed the RTE debacle for the last two weeks reading the above article.

NK has a monopoly on what's on certain rte shows. Dancing with the Stars boosted the profile of so many, Marty, Doireann G, Anna Geary, a huge cunk of the country didn't know who Mullan was until this year.

The Late Late show ended up the RTE Staff canteen show. That pair of gobshites the 2 Johnnies with their teenage boy sense of humour getting radio shows and a show touring the US, nice expenses there. Personality bypass drips like Dermot Bannon having multiple Late Late appearances annually.

Indeed all Bannon's shows where he goes over budget by 100k are an insult. House of the year and that Wallace fella with his jumper around his shoulders. Doireann Garrihy was first sold to us by NK as a comedienne. Now she can chair talks in the Oireachtas! It's all rotten to the core.

Joe Duffy is probably the highest paid agony aunt in world history. Such money for zero responsibility. He doesn't even have to present a regular TV slot. And making money on books about Children of 1916 and the Troubles. The fakeness of him talking about poor little Tommy Kelly from the Falls Road who he's making money out of.

A PR release from NK. He's going nowhere for talks.
