Tom Lyons is a very good independent journalist with no known axe to grind with Tubs. Even he has filleted Tubs here on Brendan O’Connor now.

    I suppose he’s being spiteful too? 🙄

Let's put a spotlight not only on RTE but also on Noel Kelly Management........

I can tell you fans on heart I’m not manning any of those.

That said, to describe someone manning one as “mentally ill” is deeply offensive and very unkind. As a Tubs fan, I am surprised you don’t follow his #BeKind messaging. Or perhaps you’re as shallow as he is?

Its hard to see how Tubs was the only one on that barter account deal which is dodgy as hell.

Very odd too that the dodgy method of payments seem to have started soon after Dee Forbes joined RTE in 2016.

Revenue should be all over this.

Whoever set this "barter" up, those who availed of it, and those who were aware of it, have displayed a staggering level of arrogance in thinking they could get away with it.

RTE needs a complete restructure of management and the salaries of the top earners if they want any measure of credibility.

Anyone who criticises Tubridy is a Troll, or/and have various descriptors like “unhinged”. All critique must be shut down by whatever devious means is available.

edit… and now the terminology of a critic extends to the descriptor of such a critic as somebody with a mental illness.

who was representing tubridy? do they represent any other of the big names in RTE - because if they do, did they demand/arrange the same for them?

If I just use the words people want to hear all this will go away …

Hey. I never suggested you were - haven’t a clue who you are tbh.

I just think it’s easy enough to suggest that if someone goes to all the effort to create Tubs, Joe Duffy, Noel Kelly “parody” accounts, gain 30 followers and spend hours doing unfunny photoshops then there probably a lot of loneliness, mental illness and probably underlying anger issues involved

From a recent news article, since the Tubridy story broke.

'Frequently referred as 'Ireland's agent to the stars', Noel Kelly looks after the biggest broadcasting names in the country. Pat Kenny, Dermot Bannon, Claire Byrne, Kathryn Thomas, and Joe Duffy are all part of the NK Management stable.'

As someone posted earlier, audits can miss stuff.

What I cant understand is how they would miss or not scrutinise an extra bank account and the related transactions for 5+ years.

After the deals/contracts were agreed, someone in RTE had to process those payments and someone had to sign them off. Strange accounting systems with very poor controls.

Once again the personal insults route bring taken by the Tubs fan club. It’s very sad that you collectively and individually always resort to this.

I disagree with many people, I don’t label them all as having a mental illness.

Perhaps some reflection on your defence on the man over the years given the recent revelations would be a better use of your time?

A lot of assumptions there, and a lot of personal insults at someone who has a differing opinion than yours. Intriguing.

They can only audit what they are shown. If these secret accounts weren’t shown to them, they can’t audit them.

An audit is essentially a sign off of existing paperwork. You can’t (fully) blame the auditors here. Whoever presented the accounts for them over the years presumably didn’t show them the secret accounts or they were hidden in a very deliberate way (perhaps spread out in much smaller numbers of accounts as different transactions) to avoid scrutiny.

How they were discovered will be very interesting. Was it humane error or did someone with some knowledge of what was going on plant a seed…..

you are clearly unemployed, if you think people with jobs are not capable of being that unfunny. i've worked with *plenty* of sense-of-humour-vacuums over the years.

"Tubridy shouldn't have his career cancelled" says the Indo..... Well I thought of Kevin Myers and George Hook who became personae non grata in Irish media circles simply for making statements which the establishment felt were unsavoury.

But Ryan Tubridy can concoct a scheme on the sly in RTE where he gets the plaudits for taking pay cuts for the purposes of offical figures but in reality he's getting tax payer funded top-ups to the tune of 100s of thousands of euro.................and he should be let continue to pontificate on radio every morning after he makes an on air apology (but keeps all the cash of course)

I don't believe in cancellation but there is no doubt Tubridy should be axed from RTE for this. In any other industry, it would be a given. Let him try to resurrect his career in the commercial sector. See if he can command €500k pa anywhere else for his..............huge talent.

I suspect though, the reality is Official Ireland will manage this carefully. Perfect and massively coincidental timing that this all comes out before the summer hiatus/silly season. His image will be rehabilitated with puff pieces from pals in the print media. Much heart string tugging will take place between now and whenever they will deem it safe for him to return. He might take an impromptu long summer holiday. Then he will come back with a carefully worded apology letter which he'll read live on air. He'll be dreadfully sorry. It will all be old news at this stage. RTE will have a new DG. Lessons will have been learned and we will need to move on. And we should remember his patriotism during Covid and how much the kiddies love him....

Normal service will resume and off we go again.

Very little effort for a creative artist type, can be done literally in one’s sleep the way a pen doodle is done during coffee. To suggest somebody who enjoys doodling has a mental illness is seriously uneducated at best.

Fair point. That sounds even more dodgy though, keeping secret accounts and hiding payments. Was the CFO and the senior finance team asleep? Totally incompetent?

Definitly think Revenue need to be sending in a team to do a deep examination of everything financial in RTE.

Tubridy will not do his radio show next week for editorial reasons.

    What does that even mean?

Are some of the staff refusing to work the show, or what?

He is the news at the moment, so he can’t be objective about it.

They can't have him on air when he's the subject of controversy. Some posted a Twitter link and the interim DG of RTR explained it in an interview on the six one news.

I did read on Twitter that his radio show crew threatened a revolt if he turned up for work on Monday.

Tubs is a bit like Putin. Totally impervious to what the little people think of him and they pose no threat to his regime whatsoever. It's the people who work with him in close quarters who are his biggest worry 😁

they do a 'what it says in the papers' section on his show (according to an article i read). they'd either have to bin this - which would mean the fuss is having an editorial/impartiaity impact - or get him to do the section, which also raises big impartiality issues.

    Agreed.

This must go much further than whether Tubs will be presenting his radio show again or not.

Secret bank accounts and burying/hiding payments from auditors is seriously dodgy.
