How did you find it? Mine was very fast. And I was expecting two former HEOs/APs and instead it was PAS running it.

Top 5 for Cork. Not sure how many they have called for this batch of interviews.

Quite quick alright. I had 3 people on the 2020 zoom interview so much more laid back on this one.

I found it very straightforward. Once you read the values and have an example that can tie into each it shouldn’t be tricky - advice for anyone waiting to be called.

Hi, I’m currently a CO in civil service. My probation is due up in the coming months. I applied to the 2023 competition and have been called for an interview. Now I’m thinking will I shoot myself in the foot if I pass interview and (a) get offered job in current department- will they fail me on my probation as they will see me not committed to them seeing as I applied to the CO 2023 competition. (B) if I got offered another department do I have to start my probation all over again?

l’m actually happy in Dept I’m in so I really don’t want to screw up my probation or start all over.

I would appreciate it if someone / people could advise me should I do interview or not.

    Thanks

Just out of interest why did you apply for 2023 competition if you are happy where you are currently?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 125 ✭✭Red Honeysuckle

For this panel? Or last years?

This year's extremely doubtful they have even called the top 5 for Carlow.

Wouldnt even know if they hit 175 for last years panel.

    This years panel.

Currently Clerical Officers in AGS are not allowed leave through mobility. Many people have applied in this competition to get a door open elsewhere. No one really knows what'll happen next year when the new police bill comes in but it won't be positive for civil servants.

The law on probation changed to maximum of 6 months back in August 2022 except for PUBLIC SERVANTS which can still be 12 months. Going for another job has no bearing on your current probation, it does not relate to your current job performance. I don't know why you'd apply for this competition when you've just recently joined and are happy in your new dept. You may have knocked out someone that actually wants/needs a job.

Has anybody know how far they are with OOM in county Limerick ?

People are entitled to apply for any competition they want whether they are in an existing post or not - quite an unnecessary comment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 139 ✭✭Pamelabeasley

it won’t have any bearing on your current probation at all but if you do accept an new post through this competition you will begin probation again for your new department.

And just like that I can say the same of your comment, unnecessary and only trying to raise an argument. I'm as entitled to my opinion as anyone else, apart from Michael D.

It's been happening in competitions for as long as I can remember. Usually because passing interviews for a new panel works faster than two years service before mobility. I'd never negatively judge someone going for a new panel. Especially with the cost of living lately. Eg lived in Clonmel and worked in nenagh. Or worked in Limerick and wanted to get an office in Tipp.

Previously one interview covered both regions and whatever number came up first you accepted and we're removed from the second panel. It's changed since where now if you accept an interview for one panel you're off the second one.

Did Anyone received interview results yet

And given what I seen for the pace that mobility moves, it's a no brainer to apply for a new panel. Some zone's have moved only 1 or 2 places in 4 years. The cost of travelling one hour plus to work hits the pocket given the salary levels CO's start on.

Just wondering has anyone got a location preference for Sligo yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 125 ✭✭Red Honeysuckle

Nope. Could be waiting up to a couple of months to be fair. Saying that I've never seen a panel move as fast as this. And I mean from application to testing, never mind results has been know to take 3 months.

I was told at interview last week that results could take a few weeks but most likely it would be the end of this week or beginning of next.

My OOM is in the mid 30’s for these locations, so I’d be interested too. I’ve only reached the location preference stage.
