If what Keating says is true, I'm still at a loss for words. Giving them home advantage?? In a Munster final? Bizarre stuff IMO.

What do you expect him to say? The truth? He has to be pc. That's his job. Not stop posting rubbish and linking me to it. Do it again now and I'll put you on ignore.

It's an absolute disgrace this Munster final is not on in Thurles. Perfectly fair home and away agreements messed up by Cork too this year because they can't get their finances sorted on their own. The whole fairness of the competition is gone to f**k.

The only person who thinks Cork was forced down Clare's throat is you.

The stadium in Cork is better now and Thurles is fit for the wrecking ball.

I think that's your real beef here.

Munster hurling finals used be played in Killarney. In 10 years we could be talking about how Munster hurling finals used be played in Thurles.

    The truth..... 🤣🤣🤣

Maybe the truth is they didnt want to pay for a hotel overnight in cork for the backroom team and squad.

Go back to the tipperary thread or the offaly thread and talk rubbish about yere preliminary quater final. You have plenty practise at talking rubbish.

Crowd will be 50/50, 15 v 15 on the pitch, don't see what the issue is. Limerick didn't exactly shoot the lights out last week in the GG. I'd be more concerned about if we have Clearly back or not than worrying about the venue as he's a pivotal player against Limerick.

If Lohan is fine with it that's good enough for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,225 ✭✭✭Henno30

Why didn't Limerick want to play Clare in Thurles?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,288 ✭✭✭keeponhurling

Hypothetically, say Clare were playing Mayo at a neutral venue.

If Mayo propose playing it in Galway, and Clare propose playing it in Kerry....then it gets played in Cusack Park ?

Or maybe Mayo are better off proposing Donegal or Sligo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,232 ✭✭✭waterwelly

At a guess I'd say when it comes to a Waterford v Clare, Clare v Cork etc. final it would be be leverage to have it rotated to Limerick.

Or it could be that Thurles is a falling down relic of the Soviet era.

It's not that they didn't, the Munster council recommended cork so they just went along with the recommended venue

A vote took place and cork won as venue, Clare board were not happy with Cork , Limerick was chosen as an alternative

To their credit Limerick have offered concessions that Clare wouldn't have got had it been on in cork

A percentage of gate receipts and options to have training sessions at the Gaelic grounds next week

I still would have preferred Cork over Limerick, regardless of how much a nightmare it can be for traffic

Gavin Cooney gone from football panel, the wheels seem to be coming off that set up completely.

Anyone here anything about Keelan Sexton transferring to Na Fianna in Dublin. Would be major loss to Quilty.

Terrace tickets gone in minutes. How the hell did that happen. Have yet to speak to any of my family or friends that secured a ticket

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 809 ✭✭✭supernova5

Ticketmaster malfunctioning/gone into meltdown again [not for the first time]

it will be the same as last year, release a limited amount of terrace tickets, when these are sold out announce the game is "sold out", create a frenzy, then, release the stand tickets and more terrace tickets to clubs, if stand and terrace tickets have not then sold out announce the release a "limited number of additional tickets" and create even extra hype

there will be tickets still floating around on the last couple of days before final

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,211 ✭✭✭opinionated3

I hope you're right. So many of us that have travelled to all the matches so far have ended up with nothing today. It's pretty disheartening

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,102 ✭✭✭windy shepard henderson

i think they only put out a few thousand tickets today , between season tickets and today your probably talking 10000 tickets in total sold , 25,000 going to clubs , the remaining 7 or 8,000 tickets going on general sale next week along with whatever is left over in the clubs

12,500 is a huge number of tickets for clubs to get , i reckon they got far less last year and more were put on general sale , its the best way to keep the stadium 50/50 on the day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,102 ✭✭✭windy shepard henderson

breach of discipline/ team code few weeks back i believe , in the days after the donegal game

There has been a woeful amount of BS written here about the decision to play in Limerick. The simple fact is that Cork put huge pressure on the Munster Council not to play in Thurles because they wanted it. Limerick gave into the pressure and looked for Cork. Lohan has the balls to cut through the BS and say if it can't be in Thurles, Limerick is the only logical place to go. Munster Council were happy because Cork couldn't complain because it wasn't Thurles again. Limerick and Clare fans happy. It's going to be a brilliant day out.

If I was in the Clare panel (still waiting for the call - I think Brian must have lost my number) I'd be absolutely buzzing in training this week. Having a no nonsense manager who shows that much confidence in his players that he has no problem going into the all Ireland champions back yard to play them in a Munster final.... I'd feel 10 feet tall. I think from so many different points of view, it is a brilliant move by Lohan.

With any luck you might get a call up for the squad for the All Ireland quarter final..............

Seems to be positive enough anyway regarding the decision for the Gaelic Grounds, everyone I have spoken to is happy anyway. There will always be negative people online. That’s the nature of the forums. That’s normal. Bring it on!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,102 ✭✭✭windy shepard henderson

i think most of this post is total BS , limerick were not fussy on the venue , the vote went against clare ,kerian keating put forward the proposal of playing it in limerick end of ,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,102 ✭✭✭windy shepard henderson

wasnt a fan of it at the time ,but huge logic to it now clare county board played a blinder 😉

also what better venue to stop their 5 in a row then on home soil !!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,284 ✭✭✭Figerty

The 'Cork' Examiner has been championing the cause for the Munster final to be in Cork for weeks. As soon as it looked like Cork wasn't going to feature in it they were running stories.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,102 ✭✭✭windy shepard henderson

they know the craic , 7 million has to be paid ,this game is 1.5 million , by the time the deductions are made its one million for the cork county board and their loan from the central council,

Kieran shannon lives up here and writes for them , never once spoke a word about it all week when he knows it would be organized chaos getting there

or the stupidity of building that stadium in a cul de sac 45 minutes walk from the city , i am not a fan of playing limerick at home but its better then the hassle of cork ,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,288 ✭✭✭keeponhurling

Super performance today, huge congrats to those minors and the whole set-up.

Some brilliant point-taking from long range, and they looked so good at the basics.
