Clare GAA Discussion part 2
Doing non contact training all last week but wether or not it's too soon is another thing
Only good thing is we have had the extra few weeks to Come up with a plan B
Ahead of the senior game, as usual very little coming out of the camp.
I'd imagine Cleary is the only likely change from the last game. Although he hasn't yet been ruled out so you'd never know.
They could always strap up the good shoulder, to confuse those Limerick boys...
Well done to Clare minors, there's some very talented lads coming through, when ye get underage development together like 2009 onwards ye have masses of talent, from a limerick POV only consolation were they were the only team to get a win against them in this campaign.
There's no doubt that Galway had a straight forward run through Leinster and were never really challenged like yesterday, but nothing Galway can do about that. Maybe next year Leinster will be more competitive.
Galway did beat Cork in the semi final so it's not like they came outta Leinster and weren't able to deal with what came out of Munster.
Yesterday Clare were just better all round the field and more than deserving winners. Hopefully the start of more success for us.
Yeah, our full back line shutting down Niland and co. obviously a huge part of it.
I also felt that Galway struggled a lot when we pressured their short puck-outs, the goalie looked a bit jitterty the whole time and they never really sorted it out. I wonder what sort of intensity were the games in Leinster. Great work rate from the Clare lads, starting from the forwards.
we have gone from a ban on purple jumpers and any 1970s St Bernard attire on here to the cult hero status of Kieran Keating and the current county board , brilliant people and at the home coming tonight the kilbaha native led the way , tip of the hat to michael o'connor, Dierdre Chaplin , and Deirdre Murphy , leadership starts from the top
disappointing day in clones for the footballers as they exit the championship with a game remaining,
in what was a fantastic game of football from start to finish , a 69th minute goal by conor mccarthy was the difference , manus doherty , jamie malone, darragh bohannon, cathal o connor ,keelans and emmett mcmahon all excellent
1-18 is some scoring with no eoin cleary , gavin cooney, cian o dea , podge injured at half time and darren oneill only featured briefly . we have the makes of a really good team but we need to sort out the consistency , we never came out of the dressing room in the 2nd half two weeks ago and we are out tonight as a result
todays performance shows we can be there abouts with anyone we just need to produce it more often
the performances of gunning, evan price ,ronan kilroy mathew O'Halloran were Absolut top class , some of the scores from the likes of collins and obrien in the first half and the excellent james heagerty in the second were brilliant , the goal heagerty got was lucky but it was deserved luck , in fairness , the work rate in the middle 3rd in that heat today was unreal , the scores late on by harry doherty and eoin carey put the icing on the cake , the clarecastle lad is only 15 and carey from cratloe a year older , fred hegerty came on also and made some impact he is underage again next year also
the future is looking very bright indeed , i wrote off our chances today due to the brilliance of the galway forwards , but hurling is always about workrate by god did they put in some shift today
delighted fpr brian oconnell , just over 10 years ago he surrendered his clare senior captains armband in the middle of hi career to seek work in austrailia , had he stayed around a couple of more years and he could have had an all ireland in his back pocket . long over due but he has one tonight
Brilliant at denying the ball on the ground using the hurley correctly. No slapping in, just great flicks and touches to space to deny possession. Great use of subs today when they were needed.
superb team display, great composure, skill and very high work rate, Galway have 3/4 great individuals Clare are the definition of a proper team. huge kudos to every single person involved, the team are a joy to watch
Congrats lads super win today. The future is bright with some of those young lads.
Super performance today, huge congrats to those minors and the whole set-up.
Some brilliant point-taking from long range, and they looked so good at the basics.
they know the craic , 7 million has to be paid ,this game is 1.5 million , by the time the deductions are made its one million for the cork county board and their loan from the central council,
Kieran shannon lives up here and writes for them , never once spoke a word about it all week when he knows it would be organized chaos getting there
or the stupidity of building that stadium in a cul de sac 45 minutes walk from the city , i am not a fan of playing limerick at home but its better then the hassle of cork ,
The 'Cork' Examiner has been championing the cause for the Munster final to be in Cork for weeks. As soon as it looked like Cork wasn't going to feature in it they were running stories.
wasnt a fan of it at the time ,but huge logic to it now clare county board played a blinder 😉
also what better venue to stop their 5 in a row then on home soil !!!
i think most of this post is total BS , limerick were not fussy on the venue , the vote went against clare ,kerian keating put forward the proposal of playing it in limerick end of ,
Seems to be positive enough anyway regarding the decision for the Gaelic Grounds, everyone I have spoken to is happy anyway. There will always be negative people online. That’s the nature of the forums. That’s normal. Bring it on!
With any luck you might get a call up for the squad for the All Ireland quarter final..............
There has been a woeful amount of BS written here about the decision to play in Limerick. The simple fact is that Cork put huge pressure on the Munster Council not to play in Thurles because they wanted it. Limerick gave into the pressure and looked for Cork. Lohan has the balls to cut through the BS and say if it can't be in Thurles, Limerick is the only logical place to go. Munster Council were happy because Cork couldn't complain because it wasn't Thurles again. Limerick and Clare fans happy. It's going to be a brilliant day out.
If I was in the Clare panel (still waiting for the call - I think Brian must have lost my number) I'd be absolutely buzzing in training this week. Having a no nonsense manager who shows that much confidence in his players that he has no problem going into the all Ireland champions back yard to play them in a Munster final.... I'd feel 10 feet tall. I think from so many different points of view, it is a brilliant move by Lohan.
Exactly, totally agree it'll be next week when they start freeing up
breach of discipline/ team code few weeks back i believe , in the days after the donegal game
i think they only put out a few thousand tickets today , between season tickets and today your probably talking 10000 tickets in total sold , 25,000 going to clubs , the remaining 7 or 8,000 tickets going on general sale next week along with whatever is left over in the clubs
12,500 is a huge number of tickets for clubs to get , i reckon they got far less last year and more were put on general sale , its the best way to keep the stadium 50/50 on the day
I hope you're right. So many of us that have travelled to all the matches so far have ended up with nothing today. It's pretty disheartening
it will be the same as last year, release a limited amount of terrace tickets, when these are sold out announce the game is "sold out", create a frenzy, then, release the stand tickets and more terrace tickets to clubs, if stand and terrace tickets have not then sold out announce the release a "limited number of additional tickets" and create even extra hype
there will be tickets still floating around on the last couple of days before final
What are you on about!
It's officially sold out.
Ticketmaster malfunctioning/gone into meltdown again [not for the first time]
Terrace tickets gone in minutes. How the hell did that happen. Have yet to speak to any of my family or friends that secured a ticket
Anyone here anything about Keelan Sexton transferring to Na Fianna in Dublin. Would be major loss to Quilty.
Gavin Cooney gone from football panel, the wheels seem to be coming off that set up completely.
